I would rather cruise then have expensive clothes, cars and houses.
Adventures are priceless! Travel creates memories that you will have for the rest of your life.
Same!!!!
Allison, you are so right. None of us know what is ahead of us or how our health will be. It is so important to live for today and not put off any dreams or aspirations you may have.
Go when you can as long as you can. We know not the future.
When I went to Naples on a cruise, i met 2 italian ladies and 2 fellow cruisers on my tour. The ladies did not speak English. After our tour, the 6 of us ate lunch together and enjoyed pizza and live music. We shared photos of our homes and I tried my best to communicate with my phone and my limited Italian. After the meal, the ladies kissed both of my cheeks as they bid us goodbye. That day seemed magical, and I smile whenever i think of this experience.
Such a nice memory to share! I was in Naples in August and hiked MT Vesuvius, visited Pompei and had lunch and wine with people we just met.
R/T cherishing special experiences: We have our travel photos as screensaver on our TV. We leave the power on at times to see the photos. It's a delight when pictures pop up in random order. Bless my husband for doing this for us.
Thank you Alison for sharing your deep and endearing thoughts and feelings with all your viewers.
My late husband and I did British Isles in 2019. We saw all the things, took all the pictures and had so much fun.. I lost him less than a year later. Always, get the pictures and see the places. I've done 8 solo cruises since I lost him and know it's what he would want.
Thank You so much for this. I am sailing the Regal on August 19th out of Southampton. This is the land of my ancestors and I am anticipating goosebumps. This is a bucket list trip for me. You have given me insights; I am looking forward to soaking up the sights and all the feels!
You will love Azamara! Out of 5 brands it is my favorite in every area. The only drawback is they are limited on the area they sail. Only 4 ships but they are definitely customer orientated totally and set their standards very high. And they are practical in that you have free self-laundry and the area is clean and large. Sure hope you enjoy it as much as we did. We cruised from Athens to Venice. We spent time in both destinations before and after. The trip was wonderful.
I loved your comments today. Such an interesting perspective about traveling. I too have felt this way at times on my journeys. Thank you for sharing and for your excellent daily information.
I've been traveling since my backpacking days (from the UK) in Europe. We had been locked down after Covid longer than other countries in Australia so I finally ventured to UK/Ireland last year to visit family and see some favourite haunts and new places. I seem to have a connection with Honolulu and just love it there.
Now there's a few more bookings made both land and cruise to visit some places I missed out on and always wanted to visit like Iceland, Eastern Canada and French Polynesia.
Gotta do this while we're still able to and have the resources :)
I think the only good thing about covid, was that it made me appreciate the freedom we have to travel...
Wonderful message today and so very true. Switzerland and Alaska speak to my heart. Thank you. ❤ Beautiful closing….
I agree.
The Beach calls my name, I don't even like swimming, and I can't really explain, but I feel so much better for those few hours I can sit on the sand, listen to the waves, smell the salt, and walk with my feet in the water. It's just part of me. 😊
In 1974 as a college student I visited Berlin with a college class. I was really shocked by seeing the Berlin wall. Last week I got back from a Gate 1 land tour and river cruise that started in Berlin. It was absolutely wonderful seeing a united Berlin and being g able to see a free eastern Europe.
Beautifully said! I experienced that in Alaska last year! I’ve never had that feeling before!
Sooo truee! Traveling is so rewarding...the memories you have are priceless...you never remember the cost! I have been traveling since 2009 ....IM AN ADDICT! I work so I can travel! I go with all different ages from 3 to 83 and plan it all! I'm so blessed and thankful to God for the opportunity ❤ The Celtic places call my name! My first trip was to Scotland...Dumbarton castle had the declaration of Arbroath posted and I was sooo moved and then we visited Loch Leven where Mary queen of Scotts was a prisoner.😔 I was changed and hooked! I love researching the history...planning...and then you have the memory 😍
I have sailed on Azamara 4 times, with #5 booked for August 22. I was convinced I was not a cruiser. Now my dream is to do B2B2B and so on, only on Azamara.
Have been on Azamara and did enjoy it very much…once on board. Pre cruise was challenging for us and even our travel agent
Hi Allison, well said. I remember being on a whale sightseeing excursion in Alaska. On this particular day in September the temperature was cool and crisp, there were whales in abundance seemingly performing for us just yards from our tour boat and Mt. McKinley was directly in the background with snow and ice all over the mountain. A more picturesque moment in time you could not imagine. To this day that moment is frozen in my memory.
I had that experience in South Africa. I can't wait to go back. I felt such a peace and joy while I was there
Thanks for your wonderful information - always informative!
Wow. How wonderful you shared your special experience in Scotland with us. I could relate. How right about that connection, how right about changing in an instant. Very powerful, Allison.
Stunning ending of the sea in mauves and pinks. WOW. Thank you. ❤
I have only explored the Highlands on a self exploration, but it has always felt like belonging. We have been back about 8 times; not the exact places, but trying to explore all of the Highlands. Heartbreakingly lovely.
I haven't tried Azamara but I tried windstar last December and will try Oceania in September. I'm intrigued by these smaller cruiselines.
Princess also sent out an email about the dining reservation issue.
Amen, Allison. We're back from a 9 day bus tour of the Highlands after a day trip 5 years ago. Scotland is a magical place. 12:52
Florence in particular and Italy in general is the place in my heart. No Italian ancestors (hubby has Sicilian grandparents) but I felt so connected. I was also changed after spending a month in Florence.
God bless you too.
Allison, your words today spoke to my heart about yearning for a place to return to. I lived in Vietnam as a young girl and had wanted to go back….I have extended family through marriage there. I was able to return in 2004 and had another trip booked for 2010 but had to cancel due to sickness in the family. I feel as though part of my heart is still there😢. Maybe one day…..😀.
Also, I have sailed on Azamara to Greece and Turkey. It was a wonderful experience with exceptional personal attention to their guests.
I’m looking forward to our Alaskan cruise…..a chance to “make the world a little better place” for my best friend as she marks this off her bucket list!!!!
For me it's each time I step on board the ship. I am so thankful and blessed knowing not everyone gets to experience what lies ahead on the ship but the itinerary that we will see.
Alaska is where the land calls my name! Been 5 times and can't wait til June 2025 for the 22 day with Princess.
God Is Good!
That is an awesome cruise! Have sooo much fun!
I am going out of Seattle 15 days to Tokyo next September 😍
For me my special place is Italy. Really everywhere there but most specifically Cinque Terre! All the villages are so amazing. I loved them all! It really does touch my heart. Thanks for this Allison! I take so many pictures and am realizing less pictures and more "in the moment" enjoyment.
Ballyfin in Ireland is that special place for me. Having been twice, I always think of returning.
Hi Allison, once we took a cruise from Rome to the Greek Islands, everything was going according to plan but suddenly I found myself on the deck of the ship watching the coast of Italy go by and that's when I got that chill that ran through my body. , I was seeing Italy, which had already come so far in my goals, my work to live this magical moment, of being on the deck of a cruise ship with Italy receding in front of me... it was magical
My special place is Vancouver Island I feel like I am home. I have been only once by cruise but 4 x on land. Since I m an East coast girl this takes planning.
This video really hit home for Cindy and myself. It’s true you don’t know how long you will be able to do what you love. The ending was great not only the sunset but that beautiful ocean sound. Nothing else like it.
We received an email from Princess about dinning yesterday. I will email you a copy.
Thank you for the extra footage of your view and the sound of the water. I lived on the side of Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver, BC, Canada many years ago and loved listening to and watching the ocean. I dearly miss it❤
Well, I was able to get through your whole cruise without crying...until now. Thank you for sharing your heart, even though it made me so sad not to have seen Scotland with you. We WILL do it.
We received an email regarding the dining. Luckily, we are in no hurry since our next cruise is September 2025. 😂
I would love a comparison of Azamara * Regent- silver seas -Oceania type ships . I wanting to try one. Thanks Code 4 Life for your videos
We would NEVER cruise with Azamara again. We booked for August this year and were given $150 each for 2 people plus $150 each for the 3 of us ( future cruise credit) We had this on our booking form and confirmed by email. When we went to book a shore excursion through our travel agent, they refused to honour the OBC saying we had “been misinformed” We cancelled the cruise and have written TWICE to Azamara requesting the return of our deposit as we booked on the strength of the OBV. We have heard nothing. It would appear we are not the only ones.
My special place is the Aurora at Chena Hot Springs. We walked from our room, up the hill to a small warming building.
Being in the snow, literally surrounded by the Aurora Borealis, was amazing. We saw and felt this amazing phenomenon. There were so few people up in the wee hours of the morning that it felt like we were the only ones there. Darkness aglow with the amazing Aurora Borealis dancing over and around us in the quiet of a frigid, snowy wonderland with the amazing sight, sound and feeling of the Aurora Borealis. It is one of those times I felt the wonder of God, His amazing creation and the love of my husband as we shared a once in a lifetime experience.
I’ve been so blessed to travel and see so much of God’s beautiful creation! There has been many moments I felt what you described, I must say the most intense time was when I entered Mother Mary’s house at Ephesus! I totally felt the Holy Spirit and what a Devine feeling I had ❤
Thank You Allison For Sharing And Reminding Us On The Importance Of Experiencing Travel, Adventure and Self Growth.
very well said! I've had experiences like that. Very recently as well, in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado with a spectacular area of rugged mountainous with a quiet lake surrounded by magnificent wild flowers just starting to bloom. I've been in the same area, not exactly same location, but in Colorado. I felt strong memories of a wonderful time we had once with family and friends many, many years ago. Don't put off the special times and travels, you don't know what the future holds, you're so right.
I hope that we will be able to book a table with guests (table of 8 new friends) as we did in the past. Just request early or late dining. The best part of our Princess experience in the past.
I will do my first Azamara Cruise in October (7 nights Istanbul to Athens). I am looking forward to the small ship experience (670 passengers). One nice thing about Azamara is if you follow their sales and promotions they often have some great deals show up. My 7 night cruise as a solo traveler in an oceanview cabin came to $2014. Since there is free laundry, gratuities are included, as well as most drinks, this alone would be a great price for a solo traveler. No extra daily charges required unless you want internet. However, I booked during a $1000 onboard credit promotion so I have really great shore excursions in every port that were covered by this credit. I can't wait to go on this cruise and I will report back. To add to my experience I scheduled a 13 day land tour of Turkey with Gate I travel just before the cruise.
Rest and be thankful was a beautiful place. I can understand how it got its name.
The water looks pink! So lovely! Thanks for your video, Allison! ❤😊
Thank you Alison
I felt that way about the Coliseum in Rome and the Effel Tower
Hey Alison A quick tip for P&O UK holiday makers If you book a balcony cabin before July 15, 2024, for a 2026 cruise on a selective cruise, you can get £500. on board credit.,😅
Very interesting information about Azamara. They have been more a dream because of price, but thinking of the points you made- your experience will be valuable information to many.
Alaska speaks to my heart. Rome is also a favorite of mine.
Travelling on Sun in October. Booked assigned dining on my App. I did this a while ago.
Loved the talk about experiences. I know how you feel.
Exactly you can't duplicate first time experiences.
What a beautiful sunset.❤
Fyi: Sister is on Viking Cruise from Iceland > Greenland > Newfoundland > NS > NY - no Blue Lagoon, no ports in Greenland no stop in L’Anse aux Meadows due to ice - 5 days at sea only 😢
I have had two moments like that Iceland and Tallin. I do have.northern European ancestry so maybe that is why.
Also, the Menger Hotel in San Antonio Texas does that to me. Always feel like I’m coming home when I go to that hotel.
Glad you've been enjoying the cruise!
On cruises we do not have a lot of time at port stops, so it is still new each time.
Allison don’t rule out the MSC Yacht club. Especially their loyalty match benefits.
Got the email from Princess about the delay in dining reservations
Hi, what type of rooms do you stay in?
We have always stayed in a balcony stateroom with only one or two exceptions. It’s our standard goto.
Does your cruise have to be paid off to book dining?
Yes, unless you are Platinum or Elite.
Not surprised when I got the email yesterday of the postponement of the dining timeline. Typical Princess.
Wonderful message today and so very true. Switzerland and Alaska speak to my heart. Thank you. ❤ Beautiful closing….
