I'm 33 and I've been doing tai chi for about 4 years. When I started I was 319 lbs. I decided to give it a try because I always admired the martial arts and I wanted to find an exercise I liked and could physically do. I train in a kung fu school and am the youngest tai chi student but the benefits have been wonderful for me. I have lost 100 lbs and my mental health has greatly improved as well. My balance has improved and it certainly eases my stress because I'm so focused on the movements and my breathing (qi gong) that whatever was stressing me out is quickly forgotten. Because I feel better about myself I am motivated to eat healthier and try other exercises. My tai chi class is spiritual for me and my fellow students are so supportive. It's like a family.
@@gtslikemike4649 That's awesome! Well little update (new account) but I'm 41 and still practicing tai chi. I've lost and maintained a 130 LBS weight-loss and I'm currently going for my black belt. Starting tai chi was and still is one of the best things I've ever embarked on for myself. So I hope you enjoy it and stick with it because, imho, it just keeps getting better and better the further you get into tai chi. : )
If you wanna find a place to pratice qi gong in CA, definitely go to Taijimen Qigong Academy. They are the most professional people that I've never met on qi gong!

I tried tai chi but it makes me nervous bored and frustrated.
Dancing works for me much better.
