Yep, me2 Pioneer Inn in Nederland w/ wickedly hot green chili. :) we were all pretty, well "high on this mountain" to semi quote a famous lyric from a musician that lived near there. Woke up in some strange places.
I was a young hippy dude and I got a job delivering all the cedar lumber used to build the studio. I loaded up the lumber in Louisville and then drove it up Boulder Canyon to the ranch. I remember Jim Guercio being a really nice guy showing me all his gold records for producing Chicago.
I was in Seattle at the Aquarius Tavern (or Parker's) when a band called Wakefield played there. I think it was with either Tower of Power or Heart. But the Wakefield band was trying to make it big with a Chicago type horn section (and they played some Chicago). They said they recorded at Caribou. I never heard anymore about them. This must have been in the mid70s.
Very sad to see it all sold in parts. They made it seem like the whole ranch burned down but it was only the large recording studio. I think the owner lost interest and the money was not coming in so why rebuild?
@@mrrusswright I got the chance to work on Dude Ranches in that area during my college days. They all seemed to be owned by rich retired business guys and they were always money losers. How do you make money on a 6 million dollar ranch and have maximum 100 guests at a time for and also only open for 3 months in the summer season.
