Wont. Ever . Happen. Tune into the New Jerseys You Tube and youll find a video about that very subject. The closest they will ever get is the Iowa being used as the Los Angeles covid command center.
The video gives no justice to how impressive she is.. look face to face with her.. you really see how wide them ships are.. I was a teenager when I first visited her.. and an aircraft carrier is something else as well.. just huge
USS Wisconsin (BB-64) AKA "USS Wisky" part of the hull was damaged in WWII and the USS Kentucky was in production but never completed because WWII had ended. The Navy, took part of the USS Kentucky to repair the damaged section of the USS Wisconsin and thats how the nickname USS Wisky came about.
How did you get permission to fly a drone around her and around that area since its so close to NAS Oceana and the naval port? I just toured her last weekend and loved it. I had my mavic 2 pro but figured there would be no way I'd get clearance to fly around there.
Please bring her back! She is the newest of the Iowa Battleships and has a lot of life in her. She brings another factor to a battle group, and her presence is a big up factor where ever she would go. 🙂👍
@@sky194 yes. It's a year newer. BUT. BB-62 NJ is the most up to date battle ship it was the last one to get decommissioned. Do your research dude it's a Google search or a video away.. *face in palm*
@@mdtransmissionspecialties If you count after recommissioning, then the Missouri would be a better candidate. Last decommissioned September of 1995. The New Jersey was last decommissioned in February 1991. So the Missouri would be the best bet. It also hit the open ocean for for a while (not under own power) in 2011/2012 to film the movie Battleship.
@@aOldRustyTruck Land-locked battleship-wise. The Wisconsin can’t reach Lake Superior to get to the state of Wisconsin. She is currently docked at and taken care of in Norfolk, Virginia, home of the largest naval base in the world.
@@vkqtran4721 First thing you have to know, the Wisconsin is too long to fit through the St. Lawrence locks at 900 feet, the locks are only about 700 feet long.
Reasons this is Wisconsin: 1: The big “64” on the side that is visible. 2: The NJ is on a river with no docks or anything, the Wisconsin is in an actual dock (seen here) 3: NJ is further from the shore, with one walkway out to it, branching into 2, the Wisconsin is closer to shore and has 2 separate walkways.
Bro this is not the Wisconsin it's the New Jersey!!!! Because Wisconsin has Interceptors but the Jersey has not and in this ship there are no Interceptors!
USS Iowa
USS new Jersey
USS Missouri
USS Wisconsin
My favorite battleships
You could just say all of the Iowa classes but I guess it doesn’t really matter.
I like battlecruisers. Speed and guns
@@averagewikipediaenthusiast3088 but weaker guns and less armor then bbs
Don't forget USS Montana. The ship was approved for constitution but was never launch
@@sssbb-floatingfortress8222 Imagine a modernized Montana with railguns, CIWS, trophy systems, etc, and name it the USS BoatyMcBoatface
The ship is in such good shape.
I think the best shape compared to the other ioaws
I like how she is nicely tucked away just in case need break glass, we can still use her power.

Our museum ships alone would be the second largest navy globally
Yeah that channel is informative and really destroys the fantasy of these coming back to life. These were never designed to last forever...
Her engines would need to be replaced.

Been there...Awesome ship!
they should bring U.S.S Wisconsin to her state Wisconsin
It'd be pretty cool, but her home port is Norfolk
Impossible, Welland canal locks are to small. 730’ long locks and the Wisconsin is around 900.
@@mrs.dairycow62 That thought crossed my mind!
New Jersey is the only Iowa class battleship located in her name state. Iowa is in California, and Missouri is in Hawaii

Nick Garthwaite one question how do you plan on getting a ship of that size to a landlocked state
Lake Superior and Lake Michigan exist, WI is not landlocked
