Back again to reiterate. Everyone and their moms can hate on this movie all they want. Tell me a more original idea in the past 10years and I'll listen to your complaints. If not then absolutely fuck off and go watch sponge Bob or something

Made more meaningful by the revelation that in order for that future to happen the author must die. It is not about his success or fame but inspiring others long after he’s gone.

Don't understand the hate for this movie. It's very poetic. It's one of those few movies where the score is absolutely vital, and works hand in hand with the script and dialogue.

Shyamalan always puts himself in his movies, but this is definitely the most pronounced role that he's given himself. The character of Vick is more than a cameo. “Oh he made himself a genius writer in his own movie, how pretentious.” Shyamalan is one of the least pretentious directors in Hollywood, this is not his ego coming out. That's not what it's about at all. In this role he's communicating to his fans why he makes movies and what he hopes to accomplish with them.
It's the dream of every writer or artist to move someone, tap into a shared emotion, and communicate a message to them through their artwork. Can you imagine if you were a writer and your work inspired a boy to become a world leader? Your words reverberating though history because of that one time you decided to focus on the beauty of your craft? M Night isn't patting himself on the back and saying that's what this movie will do, he's simply relaying to everyone what his dreams are. It takes a lot of work and detail to put something like this together and you have to motivate yourself by thinking that there's some importance to it. This dream is the best motivation anyone could have to put a ton of effort into writing a good story.
