  • Anyone shearing llamas and alpacas will know that sand and grit in the fleece blunts the shears in seconds. Blow-cleaning with a leaf blower, prior to shearing, removes a LOT of the dirt. There will always be some grit left to mess up your shears, but a few seconds blowing before hand will save a lot of wear and tear on the machinery or hand shears.
WARNING - the air jet can damage ear drums and eyes, so don't try and clean the head and upper neck area! Other than their tails and legs, without exception, all of our animals really enjoy it.
Most leaf blowers have variable speed. We only use the lowest setting and this is more than enough. ...and of course, this is the same leaf blower we use for cleaning the fiber in the Tumbler after shearing. (see our videos on the best way to clean llama fiber)
