Sorry my Scottish accent wasn't as good as Liam's! He kinda has me beat as HE'S SCOTTISH. Oh well, one day my Scottish accent will sound more like Shrek and less like a posh guy. Thanks for watching. :) - Навчання та стиль
Im Scottish and I got most of them. Also who else thinks that Liam looks like a very young David Tennant or is it just me and the funny thing David Tennant is Scottish ☺
Susan Harris That was what I was thinking, too :3
Lol woo I'm not the only one ☺
Susan Harris Oh, God, haven't you seen "The truth about David Tennant"? That's Liam Dryden at his best! :D
OMG that was the first thing I noticed! And the glasses really helped
Saiansha I will have a look at that. Canni wait to see it. ☺
Am I the only one who thinks Liam looks a bit like David Tennant (Doctor #10)?
YES
YES
omg YES
+JosephGallagher YES
Everyone that typed yes, reread the comment.. "am i the only one who thinks" you say No to signal that he is not the only one and you agree with him, if you say yes, it means he is the only one that thinks that. c:
I just added captions to this video for those that might not be able to pick up on every word! :)
'Amy Pond get in my TARDIS' you got me with that. One more subscriber.

I'm Scottish and I couldn't get half of these
Scotland's so huge! So many different areas and different slangs!
Evan Edinger ...Scotland is tiny but yes theres about 5 or 6 different accents.
Jason Apple Robertson Correction about 500-600 accents XD
this is really old but I still wanted to tell you.
oh my god befriend u, i wany to learn Scottish accent
Jun Kazama I want to *
David Tennant's doing UA-cam videos now?
Doctor Who didn't pan out
The title says "HOW TO SPEAK SCOTTISH ACCENT" not "Learn Scottish slang"
Please correct the title.
My long-overdue collab with Liam Dryden is finally live! Time to learn some Scottish slang! How'd I do?
I love the Scottish accent
droidcube of course I know that there is not just ONE Schottish accent... ALL accents and dialects vary with location and also from person to person. Still there are some characteristics that most Scottish accents share and there is also a standardised version of Scottish English. So the term Scottish Accent can very well function as an umbrella term for the different accents of the English Language that are used in Scotland.
Writing "the" Scottish Accent does not mean I imply that I am not very well aware of he concept of Language and its multiple forms.
And you know what pisses me off? People like you who get rude for no reason. You could have just informed me that you think it might be more approptiate to use the plural instead of the singular from "the accent". Have a nice day.
droidcube seriously? I just explained why I my comment was not ignorant and I even made the effort to further explain why in order to make my intention, which was not the slightest bit ignorant, clear.
Saying "the Scottish accent" might be a bit of a vague term for some (hence my second comment with an explanation) but it is in no way insulting or ignorant.
Clearly you seem to be the one running out of arguments here, with your sophisticated remark telling me to "git tae fuck".
droidcube wow your comments seem to be progressively getting more and more intelligent I am flabbergasted
droidcube same goes for you.
'we don't have greetings in scotland' - don't lie aye we dae.
we do have them
but they're could also be seen as offensive, for example, "alright bawbag?"
Eclectic. Dinnae lie
"awrite"?
Didn't know Harry potter was from Scotland
Cuties. I mean, handsome manly fellows.
We filmed this video right after we finished chopping some firewood and shaving our super manly beards. Thank you!
Evan Edinger Dear Lord you shaved your beard? What kind of Scotsmen are you!?
Okay, you guys are awesome with your humor and fandom references. SUBSCRIBED!
Anyone from Glasgow?
🙋🏽🙋🏽
Yea
Me. I'm from Glasgow 😄
Nah but I am Scottish
HEEELLLLOOO
Edinburgh is probably the least scottish place in Scotland...
Says folk from Glasgow, and Inverness. Still don't know why folk from these places have to overcompensate, jealous of something?
Why? I always hear this from folk, usually from the south west with a blatant bias. Edinburgh is no more, or no less Scottish than anywhere else..
Im from Edinburgh .-.
Amy Downs As somebody from Edinburgh then, what do you consider to be Scottish? What is Edinburgh lacking? Bar most people speaking Scots, just like the rest of Scotland, and the obvious modern aspects, Edinburgh hasn't changed enough over the centuries, to warrant it the title "the least scottish place in Scotland".
***** true but Glasgow is the more known of citys because of the games, it's sad when my home is know first by a "myth" second by the games and 3 because of kilts, and yet it has so much history and medical advancements, oh and because of the move brave heart. He'll most people don't get the difference between highlanders and lowlanders now.
OMG he's the double of David Tennant :o
ur videos leave me with a happy warmth in my heart thx evan
Aww thank you Ramona :)))
both of you are so Entertaining!! LOL! Love it!
Bairn sounds like "barn" (child) in Norwegian. It's probs bc of vikings and stuff. Yup. k bye.
Yeah! Interesting how so many languages have so many little similarities :)
Yeah, they both come from the same root (via Middle English for Scots).
best language video I have seen.
Cheers mate! Most radge comment I have seen.
I can't help but smile every time that Chris and/or PJ are mentioned in your videos because they're two of my favorite UA-camrs, and they really deserve more credit than they get. :)
It's fun to watch you two!! :D
He is like a small 10th doctor
The Doctor Who reference 😍😘👌
I love whenever you do one of these accent videos; they're amazing! Haha
i guessed the gutter one and i already knew bairn, for some reason. but that was about it. loved the hp and lotr references. i'm a fan!
You forgot 'Baltic'
No way you're joking me on ~ I thought the whole world used Baltic not just is scottish people ??
meeeeeeeyoooouuuu a very common word 😂
I'm Scottish. Should i be offended or proud?
Prouffended
ditto for me too Epic Studios.
Can I ask for the actual definition of the word Haver? I thought it meant to lie... What does it actually mean? THANK YOU!!!
I'm a little bit of both to be truthful with ya
Mr.SpicyToothpaste both
Funny and good to learn new words to have fun with. Thanks guys.
Love your video, funny. I just came back from Edinburg yesterday. Great city, nice people, and beutiful accent!! I love Schottish accent
Liam reminds me of David Tennant o_0 he's scottish too! Love him
Just a warning, radge does NOT mean cool where i am from. It means someone dirty/manky. For example when someone does something disgusting we would say 'Gads ya wee radge!'. It's an insult, like jakey or mockit. Don't walk up to someone and say 'Hey radge' like you would with the word dude, because you will get punched in the face! XD
Kimberley Marshall radge means idiot in Edinburgh
Kimberley Marshall where I'm from it basically means raging/angry
where im from a radge is someone whos like mental, like doesnt follow rules/does crazy things or whatever
Yeah, I'de say radge means mental.
Holy crap I just found this. I watched this with my mom like two years ago because we were having a random conversation about scortish accents and we found this, so this was the first of your videos that I ever saw, long before I knew who you were. I had no idea it was you when an AskEvan popped up in my recommendations several months ago, and I've been watching so many videos for like 5 months now. But anyway, total de ja vu moment.
This might be one of my favourite videos on the youtubez. Radge! -Sarah x
He looks like David Tennant.
Any other Scottish person cringing at his answers? Just me? Okay 😂
You guys are amazing :)
I just watched the vid for the first time and omg I got soo grrr at Evan
I'd love to hear you try to recite the Address to a Haggis sometime soon. After all, Burns Night's coming up in a couple of weeks.
Is that a letter written to a sheep stomach because what
Evan Edinger Pretty much.
Evan Edinger For all intents and purposes... yes.
Evan Edinger Basically, but it's really long and it involves polishing a knife on your sleeve and then stabbing the haggis open. (flashbacks to P7 Burn's Supper *shudder*)
He looks like David Tennant???? Does anyone agree, or?
"Wabbit" is also an amazing word, meaning "exhausted" or "unwell".
Came here because of Liam but now I love you as well! Another subscriber here!💕
Evan is ravenclaw and Liam is gryffindor..
True!
I liked shrek & crabstikz lmfaoo
There should definitely be a Scottish word for Crabstickz
Thank you for helping me with my Scottish accent I'm part Scottish ad I've been working on my accent
I currently live in Newcastle in the north of England and people here also say 'bairn' when talking about their child, in the part of Ireland that I'm from we say 'wein' for the same thing, it's like the words 'wee-one' (little one) mushed together
Satisfyingly humiliating.
Wow he has a very posh Scottish accent , I live in Glasgow and our accent is nothing like that lol
Miss Millie My boyfriend is from Glasgow as well and he has a much thicker accent, I have to ask him to repeat himself a lot lol
stoned_nature nah it’s just refined and controllable
I need this for my Crowley cospaly . Helped a lot
I knew haver from 500 miles :) and numpty from idk where. Maybe Harry Potter?
Surprise not hear anything like 'ken' or even 'wain'
+S i l d r i g I spell it "wein"
A dinny Ken what ye mean.
Omg. I just looked up Scottish accent for MacBeth and found this. I can't believe I never saw this Evan video
If ye had the chance to change yer fate is my favourite line from Brave! I just really love the movie 👍🏽
Lol he looks like Harry potter
Not really?
I'm from Glasgow and even I didn't know some of they words 😕
Olivia Duff I’m from Edinburgh knew all of them except one
As a Scottish person who loves Evan I love this video
I'm Scottish and I had no idea what some of these meant! Haha. Just discovered you after you followed me on Pinterest and I absolutely love your videos!
Aww what exactly is your pinterest? Wanna make sure I repin more stuff from you! I've really been loving pinterest lately!
We are all dwarves.
It's true!
Aye I'm a 6'4" dwarf
Well that's a first :)
Haha I'm from paisley that's next to Glasgow, all the males my family are tall😂
Haha, tall scots are shorter than people from other places that are tall.
you called a girl a "bevvy", cause you're thirsty!! **patamp-pamp** haha #itried
BOOOO
I LOVE IT
Except those few words you didn't help my huge research much, but you gave me laughs! (and taught me those few words, obvioulsly...)
Good going guys! I will certainly come back to view your guidance again... ;D
Go Balin & Malfoy's gang!
Here's tae us, wha's like us?
Damned few an' they're a' deid
babby bairn? Bobby Burns?
He does look a bit like 10 though, doesn't he? Spiked up hair and glasses?
I love the different fandom references and jokes in this video.
Very funny! ahahah. I'm worried about scottish accent because I'm going to move in Edinburgh and I have to make a lot of practice to improve my listening skill. Thanks for this video! thumb up!
this is scotland
No this is Sparta
No ! This is PATRICK !!!
Why does scottisch sounds so hot xD ♥
He doesn't even have one.
It's honestly not 😂
+Aisha 卌 There's not one Scottish accent that can be lumped into a neat little basket and labelled as hot or not.....Some are very hot, some not
Can't remember if you've done an Irish one of these, but please do one if you haven't! These are hilarious!
That was my last one! (check my channel)
Oh gosh! I was literally dying laughing with this video! Ahaha it was hilarious I love you guys! :)
Hahahaa! Go to Edinburgh and see some castles. Don't forget to go to that really famous cemetery and take a tour of the catacombs or whatever they call them. AND FILM IT ALL!
Btw, I actually knew what "guttered" meant. I've heard it used over here. But on all the others, even my far flung guesses were wrong.
Wow that was actually really refreshing. I was originally just trying to learn to control my own accent, by trying to learn others. But to hear someone else not sound stereotypical and even look embarrassed by the stereotypical accent, made me feel better about mine.
He always makes me laugh
Bairn comes from barn wich means child in Sweden
This is absolutely hilarious! Great video guys, Handsome fellows! :)
:3333
You got me with the Doctor Who and Dad jokes. XD Loved the vid, bro!
Ta!
Evan you made my day with the Shrek/ Merida accent.
Nae doot the funniest Scottish thing I have seen. Wee bit sad for myself that I didn't know some of them, given I live in Scotland ha.
Liam is so CUTE!!
Radge comes from the word rage there for it means angry, plus I'm Scottish so in not just using basic logic, I know for a fact
ProGamingTiger 04 same gotta say I’ve never used it in a positive meaning 😂😂
Just discovered this video! Excellent such a fan! You're not a Scotsman yet though!
im American and i knew all of these. i love Scotland.
I got most of them right but it depends where about in Scotland you're from, every city/town has different accents and dialects, like I understand the people in my city, but if I were to go to Glasgow, I don't pick up everything they say as easily as I would in my home town. It kind of depends how broad your accent as well, some Scots you can understand clearly others not so much.
But it's nice to see something Scottish for a change because Britain is always associated with just England, even though Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland are all British as well.
When Liam said Haver (memory gone blank not sure if that's even the word and im not my tablet) was a part of the 100 miles song by The Proclaimers I started singing to hear the contents of it. XD
I've only ever heard that song like 3 times!
I'm from scotland I love it here
Hey, I lived in Glasgow, ne'er 'eard 'alf of these!
The Doctor Who reference though . These two are my new favorite people.
That was fun :D
I'm from North England and I recognised/knew a lot of these words :)
I'm Scottish and didn't know what haver was! Hahaha!
There's so many belters you could have used! Like steamin, skunnered and a personal favourite "as-la-aht"
HOW TO SPEAK ANT BRITISH DIALECT!
Any word ending in “Ed” means drunk. It’s pretty accurate if you think about it.
This is really funny and I was just laughing so hard while I was watching the video xD
But here's something, I really love the proclaimers' song 500 miles, and I was always like WTF whenever I heard the word haver, but thanks to you guys now I know what's the meaning of it!
Being northern Irish I got a few cause we speak Scottish/Irish/English here. We're all farmers from the derg with our cattle, no one outside knows what we're saying at all even though we're speaker English😂
You need more subs... Your hilarious :)
Can I say that in Falkirk which is almost slap bang in the middle of Central Scotland a "bevvy" does not simply mean a drink, the word "bevvy" is normally used in the following context,"Im going for a bevvy" which mean going to the pub to drink lots of alcohol.
Also "Radge" in Falkirk means "angry" as is "He was going Radge"
I do understand there are regional variations to all these words! Keep up the good work though,It was enjoyable to watch!
You guys are funny !!!
What about Ken or aye which are constantly used in Scotland
we say crabit in donegal in ireland
You guys are hilarious! A real Hoot! I always said if I could have any accent in the world...it'd be Scottish or Cockney, in that order. As it is, I have no accent. Booooring!!! hehehe Keep up the great word, Evan and friends....I'm gonna watch more of your vids ...since they're so fun. Thanks for the lessons and laughs!!! :D
Most of the words are used in northern England
I have just saw this haha, knew most of them
I choked. Great video! Now I know many new words!
radge bevvy... yeah I'm gonna use bevvy for "chick" from now on. Scots'll think I'm crazy
I happen to love Liam.. ☺ ♥
