    THE most comprehensive comparison of the two cameras! Thank you Maarten! Sadly, I only discovered these videos after I purchased the X-T200 (which will arrive tomorrow). Now, I'm second guessing whether I should return the X-T200 in favor of the X-T30. There is a 210 USD price difference (in Denmark, Europe) - can't figure out if that premium matches the differences.. I Could use the discount for a XC 35 mm F2 lens if I kept the X-T200. This is my first "Real" camera - will most shoot family, friends, etc. - nothing fancy. Probably will shoot on auto mode most of the time (my wife definitely will) until I get more into the various settings and only jpegs as I wont be doing any post processing.. Oh the hard choices we are faced with in life... Thanks again Maarten for your detailed review!

    For a complete beginner, the X-T200 is perfect. It's simple to use, yet it alowes for fully manual operation and it has ''that Fujifilm feel''. You can learn digital photography with this camera, while you can still use automated functions to take pictures when you want to make things simple. The LCD is also touch screen and alowes for smartphone like experience. Lastly the X-T200 makes beautiful JPEG picutres with many of the popular Fujifilm film simulations and other features. You can also shoot in RAW and edit stuff later. I shoot JPEG+RAW.

    “[The x-trans sensor] should give the X-T30 the edge in color purity...” what does that mean? If the sensor in the X-T30 is anything like the on in the X-T2 (which is what I own), then it’s colors are probably worse than the X-T200. I base that of my knowledge of the X-T100 which I also own. Here is the thing that makes me say that: Color definition on smaller details are worse on the x-trans sensors I’ve used. They look more washed out and have a tint of the surrounding colors to them.
    The X-T100 produces much better results in this regard.
    I hope that did not sound too confrontational or something. I was just something that stuck out to me. I really like this video and how in depth you go. :)

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  3 роки тому +1

      It means that the pixel configuration of the X-Trans sensor has the potential to capture colour more accurately. I'm surprised by your comments, but of course, everyone's perception and appreciation of colour and colour accuracy is different.

    Hello, thanks for the awesome video. I'm thinking of getting my first ever camera and I love taking photos. Where I live photography is quite expensive. The X-T200 comes with a 15-45mm lens kit and it mostly suits my budget. However aside from casual photos of nature, buildings, and stuff, I really like taking portrait shots. Should I get this kit? Or do I absolutely need the 55mm F2 lens for portraits and that background blur?

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  3 роки тому +3

      The X-T200 is my least favourite Fujifilm model (I thought that was clear in this video). If you must have Fujifilm and want an inexpensive purchase, look for a used X-T20 - which would be a better choice. Same for the lens, it is a cheap plastic substitute for a real lens.
      Check the used camera market - lots of people buy entry level Canon cameras and never use them. (there are 3 numbers in the name). Again, the cheap kit lens isn't worth owning, but their 50mm primes are good as well as inexpensive. They should be able to take excellent portraits.

      If I may ask further, would you mind recommending something else in the compact (below 1000 USD) category? Would it be better to invest in the X-T30 for an extra 400? I hope to get one of those (or a comparable Nikon) as a main camera sometime next year.

      Unless you are abnormally careless, accident prone or headed to sone inhospitable climate, I wouldn't give "weather sealing" a second thought.
      Any camera is weather-proof enough to withstand a day at the beach and a sprinkling of rain. No camera is weather proof enough under severe conditions unless extra precautions are taken.
      There is an industry standard for weather sealing (the IP - ingression protection -standard) No camera provides sufficient weather proofing to even be rated.
