  • Hungary has some excellent Wine, and one region in particular is famous for it's Red Wine: Villány. This unique region in Hungary offers great adventures for wine enthusiasts as a weekend getaway from Budapest!
    In this video we'll dive deep into Hungarian Wine and spend a weekend in Villány among the many beautiful vineyards! During this weekend the widely popular Red Wine Festival was held, but during the year there are many different kinds of Festivals held in Villány. You can check the progams out here:

    We stayed in nearby Kisharsány village in the Bocor Fogadó Guest house.
    Here is their official site, but you can also find them on Booking(dot)com

    I know the red wines from the Villány region very well. If you want to taste the best that this region has to offer, you must see the wine price. It is always true that the most expensive are also the best. Probably the best winemaker is Gere Attila and his premium wine Attila cuvée. It is a Bordeaux blend (Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon). Price 0.75 ml. bottle /100 Eur. The Attila cuvée rating usually ranges from 92 to 97/100. It always depends on the quality of the vintage.

      Gere Attila's wines are some of my favorite from the region, and their restaurant in Villány is also very nice, although we didn't visit during this stay, but if I really can't decide for a wine on a menu at a restaurant but some Gere product is listed, I never go wrong by choosing them 😊

    That Kopar that Gere Atilla is serving is very good! And it can ages for ... ages! I think Villany is the region that works best for the Cabernet Franc grape. So if you love this style from Bordeaux try it from Hungary next time. Would love to try the Merlot Solus from Gere, haven't found it yet.

    A great video! Thank you for taking the time and effort to show Villany. I believe it is one of the most underated areas in Hungary 🇭🇺 Looking forward to your next video already. Cheers!

    Correction: Tal means Valley, not hills. Jammertal roughly translates to Wailing Valley.

      Thanks, I got confused since most places there are called Vineyards which to me is more like a hill, but I could've checked on google translate :)

    After watching your videos, I always get the feeling that I should find some way to move to Hungary when I've finished my master's degree. Do you have peatlands there? I study peatlands.

      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  7 місяців тому

      Hehhe, thanks! :) There are some peatlands in Hungary, if I'm not wrong there is a nice one in Szőce, in the Őrség region on the western end of Hungary. There's also a famous one in neighbouring Romania 😊

      @@mandyb11 In Hungary proper, not too many. But you can set it as your base since it is right in the middle of five countries with a lot of peat bogs: Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Slovenia.
