Thankyou Mark. That explains my fascination with stories & the desire I sometimes feel to convert my experiences as an unwanted, oft' battered child into fairytale terms. 'The Cruel Wicked Witch hid herself inside the skin of an apparently respectable school teacher, so she could frighten more children than just her own, because the cries of hurt children magically made her feel so big, powerful & important, & even, for a moment, alive, but inside, her frozen heart remained hollow, cold & empty. It seemed there was no love to fill it.'
This is so wonderful, I can't wait to try this on some of my clients that really are too familiar with the usual "therapy voodoo" as they like to call it.
I’m a painter and story and metaphor are also powerful in art. Thanks for setting this out so clearly Mark, it’s very useful and motivating.
