In this episode Nick hikes 6 miles into the Jersey Pine Barrens to do a solo camping trip. The campsite is located 6 miles in Wharton State Forest along the Mullica River.
Nice video but dude, who thinks that rain hitting tarp is annoying? That is like white noise for me, it makes me fall asleep right away in a couple of minutes. So relaxing.
Haha every single time we go in the woods there’s something creepy. I once found a jail cell with a stool and bucket of water in the middle of the woods in Chatsworth lol
One time I went camping at spruce run and at night there was a heavy thunderstorm that would light up the forest whenever lightning struck. I would see figures looking at me from behind the trees whenever the forest lit up but it was probably the acid and shrooms
I just Sub'd. Cool straightforward video, although some Pickerel fishing while cooking a muskrat over an open fire would would have added some Piney flair.
First of all amazing dude. Have some questions though, first you hauled that tarp, an ax a steak two pans in your backpack, was it super heavy? Second, did you feel unsafe at any time? How cold was it, what bag do you use? I'm going in January.
Thank you I appreciate that. No unfortunately its illegal to camp in the Pine Barrens without a permit for a designated site. The most "backcountry" camping you will get in Wharton is hiking the mullica river wilderness which is about a 6 mile hike in from atsion and then another 4 miles out to batsto. The mullica provides well water to drink. You can also hike lower forge which is the most primitive. There is no water source there so you will need purifiers or filters. FYI none of the wilderness sites are open nor do they have a plan together to reopen them. Only thing open here by us in wharton will be atsion family campground.
Oh wow, I knew that place looked familiar, I live in Egg Harbor City haha. I went to that same camp site last summer to go rope swinging in the deep Woods
@@reelsouthjerseyboys6643 No problem, I’m subbing! I love Batsto village. Although, I haven’t been to the exact location itself in 5 years even though it’s 15 minutes away from me haha
@@railroadskater2896 I know. I looked at the website and it looks like the only thing that will be open down here this spring is Atsion Family Campground. Other than that its all private campgrounds for RV's. It is what it is i guess.

The size of that steak! 😄
Why pitch that tarp over the tent like that? It's gonna fill with water or snow and collapse inward onto the tent.
You have a really organized campsite and I am looking for good channels to get pointers from so I have subscribed to you. Very nice tent
I liked this video, also. Cozy and all that. I post a lot of similar content in The Pines, on my channel. Would be cool to do a colab sometime.
I've been in these woods countless times, also camped in them as well. Have you ever experienced anything creepy while camping in the Pine Barrens?
Haha every single time we go in the woods there’s something creepy. I once found a jail cell with a stool and bucket of water in the middle of the woods in Chatsworth lol
The creepiest things in the Pine Barrens are the off-road vehicle jackasses who are destroying the native flora and fauna.
I saw the jersey devil once

Did you find a Russian guy walking around with half of his head hanging off?
Yeah actually I did. I called Chrissy and Pauly and they said they’d take care of it.

Thanks man. Subbed right back! We are doing a camping trip next weekend. I will def try to do some muskrat haha

One time we got stuck wheeling out there and my friend saw the Jersey devil.
Looking to cross over from delaware next moth to do some winter camping. Thanks for sharing be safe
Dude I love this
Thanks for watching!
I'm going out there this month! Looks like a blast!
Hey! Love the video, I know this was asked recently, but is backcountry camping allowed in the pine barrens? Specifically Wharton SF?

@@reelsouthjerseyboys6643 it's like a desert with trees ;-)
That steak looked delicious!!
Thnx for the video !
Thanks for watching!
How good do the pine logs burn?
Meh depends. If it’s been rainy then they’ll never burn.
Oh wow, I knew that place looked familiar, I live in Egg Harbor City haha. I went to that same camp site last summer to go rope swinging in the deep Woods
Haha yup! There’s another rope over across the street from batsto village where we pull the canoes out. Thanks for watching

It’s a great place, really takes you back in time. Thanks for the support!
Nice video dude. How long did it take you took cook that steak?
Not long...
Beautiful solo camping trip, snow n mist perfect. Contemplation
Compilation?
Thanks for watching!
You couldn’t find the jersey devil
I’ve seen him from time to time.
Well next time you see him tell him he owes me $20
Haha will do.
Do you need a permit for this spot?
Yes. They shut it down as soon as covid hit and still haven't reopened it yet unfortunately.
@@reelsouthjerseyboys6643 I'm shocked they shut down non-cabin camping too. I thought there was tent and RV camping over summer.

I live in the Pinelands but during the winter I camp in Florida
Instead of snow I deal with bugs and wind :)
