    I can't thank you enough for these videos. I am just a starter of the perfumery world and living so far from all the sources of materials, but I have learnt a lot from your videos. Your knowledge and the way you share information is easy to understand and learn, step by step. Don't know when I will be able to create my own perfume, but I am glad since I could find an 'online teacher' like you. You are young, talented, hard-working and very dedicated, I hope you will be able to achieve your own goals and keep sharing things free for ppl like me on Internet. It's kind and cool.
    I am planning to order your perfumes next months, so can't wait.
    Once again, thank you so much for all of these information, and pls keep on doing this!
    All the best!

      @@sammacer Also, if I could ask you another question..
      How many designer fragrances do you think use actual essential oils, or are aromachemicals, fragrance oils used more often?

    • @sammacer
      @sammacer  3 роки тому +1

      @@danlightened Essential oils are used, but usually at a smaller percentage than aromachemicals because they often make the perfume smell harsh. Fragrance oils are not used at all for designer fragrances - they are for things like candles instead.

      Thank you! The book with the aroma chemical breakdowns is 'Scent and Chemistry: The Molecular World of Odors'. I think the price has gone up massively recently because all the stock has been bought and they haven't yet done a re-print unfortunately.

    Hello and thanks for all the great information you provide on the channel. It is very informative and gives excellent tips andgives a roadmap as to how to methodically build your knowledge in what can seem like a very daunting undertaking.
    With respect to citrus oils in particular, I was curious what your thoughts on lime and blood orange oils are. Based on smelling the grated zest of each, blood orange seems quite similar to grapefruit if perhaps more bitter, pleasantly musty, and herbacious. Lime seems like something between lemon and orange with a slightly floral quality. Could you share your impressions of these and how you might use them in your own perfumes?
    Again, thanks for the excellent channel and I hope your online store and launch of your own perfume lines goes amazingly.

    • @sammacer
      @sammacer  Рік тому +1

      Thank you!! To me, blood orange is similar to sweet orange but more juicy. Grapefruit is the addition of tropical elements. Lemon is defined by Citral and lime is perhaps the most unrelated of them all, completely different.

    Hey Sam. I ordered some of the materials from plush folly. Having watched this video again I realized I probably didn't need to get separate D'limonene and Citral as I have the essential oils of grapefruit, lemon and bergamot! Hopefully they are still useful

    • @sammacer
      @sammacer  3 роки тому +1

      I think it's actually a good thing - Now you can compare the single molecule synthetics to the naturals containing them. This means you can see what the effect of all of the other molecules is in the natural beyond that major constituent. If you smell the limonene on a strip to make your nose tired to it then go back to smelling the naturals straight away, you will effectively smell what all of the other molecules in the natural smell like without the limonene. You can repeat this for citral.

    • @juelraj3901
      @juelraj3901 3 роки тому

      @@sammacer I didn't think of it like that. Will be able to see how each component smells on their own. I also have seen that they can help the natural citrus last a bit longer. I am looking to make a men's fragrance with top notes of grapefruit and pineapple. Just waiting for the stuff to all arrive! Did you ever try buying from plush folly?

    I had a question as well. Aren't all citric oils phototoxic? I think you mention only a couple of them being photo toxic.
    I'm trying to create natural perfumes with essential oils. People usually say, for application on skin essential oils in total should be 2-3% at max and rest carrier oils. But then, they say for perfumes, it should be 12-20%. I don't understand how that can be safe. 🤔

    • @sammacer
      @sammacer  3 роки тому +1

      Theres a lot of conflicting information out there but not so many trustworthy sources. If you want reliable information, look up the oils you're interested in on the IFRA library: ifrafragrance.org/safe-use/library
