How much fun and you make it look so easy. As a bookworm it seems an alien concept to fold and or cut a book BUT there are so many unused books out there. If someone gave me one as a gift I would be thrilled. SO many ideas are now flowing (daughter has already started hiding her book collection)
I get mine given to me for free or I buy from charity shops books that have millions of print runs like harry potter etc one or two wont make a dent in it, most books unsold go to the land fill so in a way its saving the planet a bit.

You can make some pocket money and sell them when you have made you book art projects. Try charity shops for cheap books and ask your family and friends for any unwanted books they might have.
Allison I made your carousel about a year ago & put in my local consignment craft shop...the owner has told me several times how many positive comments she gets about it. I've also made the doll...neither has sold but that's OK, the good feedback is just as upbuilding as a sale. I love all your videos & plan to do more of your inspiring pieces! Your instructions are great and you make it look so easy. I tried this, the book fell apart half way through so had to add more pages from another book and glue them in. I decorated to hide mistakes lol. New to book folding from Scotland x

What about book lovers? If the book was damaged, you can understand that this is how it got a second life, but this one is quite new and in a neat binding. Do not destroy good books, only damaged ones.

Try get him to part with books with white pages if you can. The paper is better quality and folds amazingly well. These usually tend to be famous peoples auto biographys and refrence books, dictionarys too.

I am going through my books hopefully i have 600 page books that aren't my collectable books! Have a old set of encyclopedias, somewhere I know that is what I'm going to have to use!
Thats what I used I had collected 2 of each so I use them for big projects these books make the cack book fold I did amazing. A dont throw away unused bundles as you can cut them in half to make shorter items like the fairy house.

I thought that the dolly would be very complex. You explain everything so carefully that I can't wait to get started now.

I tried this and I got a book with thinner pages. next time I will check the weight of the paper, but it turned out good. just fascinating. thanks GG

most books will work (not really old yellow paged books they tend to be too dry and tear a lot.
