- Recorded in Cork, at the Opera House.
The crops are all in and the peaches are gathered
Oranges packed in their creosote bins
They re flying them back to the Mexican border
Twill take all their money to get back again
So farewell to my friends goodbye Roselita
Adios mis amigos, Jesus y Maria
You won't have a name when you fly the big aeroplane
All they will call you will be deportees
The skyplane caught fire over Los Gatos Canyon
The fire ball lit- up and struck the hills round
Oh who were those friends who were scanered like dry leaves
The radio said they were just deportees
So farewell to my friends goodbye Roselita
Adios mis amigos, Jesus y Maria
You won't have a name when you fly the big aeroplane
All they will call you will be deportees
Is this the best way for to plough our good orchards?
Is this the best way to grow our good fruit
To lie on the ground and to rot on the topsoil
And never know no name except deportees
So farewell to my friends goodbye Roselita
Adios mis amigos, Jesus y Maria
You won't have a name when you fly the big aeroplane
All they will call you will be deportees
Some of us are illegal, and some are not wanted,
Our work contract's finished wev'e got to move on
It's Six hundred miles to the Mexican border,
They chase us like rustlers, like outlaws, like thieves.
So farewell to my friends goodbye Roselita
Adios mis amigos, Jesus y Maria
You won't have a name when you fly the big aeroplane
all they will call you will be deportees
As the great Kris Kristofferson says "It's important to remember the names of the people we kill". Those deportees names are: Miguel Negrete Álvarez. Tomás Aviña de Gracia. Francisco Llamas Durán. Santiago García Elizondo. Rosalio Padilla Estrada. Tomás Padilla Márquez. Bernabé López Garcia. Salvador Sandoval Hernández. Severo Medina Lára. Elías Trujillo Macias. José Rodriguez Macias. Luis López Medina. Manuel Calderón Merino. Luis Cuevas Miranda. Martin Razo Navarro. Ignacio Pérez Navarro. Román Ochoa Ochoa. Ramón Paredes Gonzalez. Guadalupe Ramírez Lára. Apolonio Ramírez Placencia. Alberto Carlos Raygoza. Guadalupe Hernández Rodríguez. Maria Santana Rodríguez. Juan Valenzuela Ruiz. Wenceslao Flores Ruiz. José Valdívia Sánchez. Jesús Meza Santos. Baldomero Marcas Torres.
The fact that the media depersonalised such a horrific event made it all the more tragic when we learn about what happened that day. Ive been listening to this song for about 30 years but reading the actual names of those who perished have made me reflect so much more.. Thank you for posting the names of those unfortunate victims.
How very respectful and thoughtful. Rest in Peace.
Rest in peace
Who is we...? I didn't kill anyone b***ch!
Thank You for taking the time to humanize this song. My heart goes out to the families of all those who perished 🙏
When Paddy was a young man he was my Dad's assistant at Swiftbrook Paper Mills in Saggart. He was always a very down to earth person as were his family. God bless you Paddy. I love your music..
Hello how are you doing?😊
A lovely singer and a lovely man, I used to deliver Paddy's heating oil in Rathcoole and to his Son only a few doors up from his house.A very down to earth person and a lovely person and I still listen to his songs in 2019 thanks Paddy for all the pleasure you gave me over the years in your lovely music and songs. I hope your keeping well.

Very important song: a stone against the wall of a blond haired "innocent" Duck...
Written by the unique Woodie Guthrie, after announcement of a plane crash over Los Gatos, Mexican border. Victims were seasonal workers coming back home.
And the radio said "They were just deportees" . Of course all Irish might be sensitive to this ! Thank you Paddy ! Good Bye Roselita !

Yes very sad i rememeber my dad showing me one evening from where we sat and drank where the boats would leave and never come back
Paddy is a 💎....met him many times. Class act, through and through......fair play Paddy.
Hope president trumb and biden give this a listen
My father immigrated here in 1950’s. We are a country built on immigration
It is the height of hypocrisy to call anyone illegal,.no one is illegal in the eyes of their maker. The Irish haved paid dearly for their whistle and are still called illegal in their own land! Take care ADonovan43

Love this song by paddy. This must be the best version and cant wait to see him live again. God bless u PR
You have a great name but it’s LOUGHLIN
And more than forty years since this song was written nothing has changed, got worse. Oh the world of the lords, rich, big business is great. And we are supposed to teach our children that democracy is great, hard to see how it differs from dictatorship or indeed communism.
As we say: 'Same s**t, different uniform,' nothing really changes.
John---it doesn't.
You really need to educate yourself. America is not against immigration. Just illegal immigration. What you don't seem to get is this country is in extreme debt and there is no way it can last while giving free stuff to people who broke the law coming into this country. We can't support the entire world. And please don't say they all come in for jobs. It just isn't true. We are giving them the benefits that most of us worked hard for, for years. The people who work can't possibly continue indefinitely to support the 49% who don't even pay income tax, This is the greatest country in the world, not the worst as many try to make us think. Why do you think everyone wants to come here. I guess it will take this country turning completely into a Socialist Marxist country before some will get it. It has never worked in the history of man and it never will. I won't live to see the final results of what Obama is doing to this country and I can tell you have no idea how deep he is going to 'fundamentally' change the country but my children and grandchildren and probably you will pay the consequences. Maybe then, you will start to appreciate the country that was and wish you had it back.
I accept your chastisement.
And we will still listen to songs, singers poets who will keep us thinking.
I Love You, Paddy Reilly
brings tears to your eyes
In memory of Jean
I just love his voice
What a singer
how long before we are treated the same 800 years of bloood shed
the man
one of our finest balladeer's of all time ...
is the best
Just a bit of Irony, illegal Irish were sent back 'THE FEW'. And spoke great English so not confused about breaking the laws. And we didn't use the crops for toilet paper!
another great song ..... from the S.O.L....
Grandads song❤❤ R.I.P ❤❤
🙏❤
Beautiful,💚
Trump would love this ,.i don't think
should be played outside the whitehouse written by a anti fascist very true to what america is then and what it is now the mexicans have a left wing socialist in now and trumps crumbled to him already
Woody hated Fred Trump. Would have loved to hear what the Fred's son would have inspired Woody to write...
Brilliant singer
One of my musical idols!
A true God
Of sound and stone ☘️🕊️
How timely in this political climate of hate and intolerance.
Barb Comstock. This song was written years before immigration became a planned, uncontrolled deluge. Written about Mexicans crossing the US bordor in relatively small numbers. Paddy Reilly great man!
bandr No it isn't. People have a right to safe borders, and controlled immigration. Also an absence of rape gangs preying on young girls, and taking advantage of their vulnerability and ethnicity. Why should criminals be allowed free access to a country to further their criminal activities? Liberal tyranny, perhaps?
bandr. It sounds to me like you are the intolerant, it's you talking about sending them all back not me. When you hear a different opinion, do you always try to demonise that person. What would you do with Asian rape gangs, or deadly gangs dealing drugs in the inner city? Sing a song about deportees, and sweep it under the carpet , leave it for another generation to deal with?
@Peter Grossett sad to see right wing racist comments on this video of all places ffs. Shame on you
Still in Ireland we have no name
Wow ! Fantastic Paddy! Just bfs, rockbrook
love this song ,wud bring tear to a stone...
Beautiful song love the lyrics
Love it ❤
❤what a brilliant song xx
He sings it way better than Woody Guthrie did.
Woody wrote it on his deathbed, wracked by Huntington's, and unable to sing at all. It was only set to music after his death. So yes, he sings it way better than someone who never sang it at all.
You certainly haven't ever heard a recording of Woody Guthrie singing it, so exactly what smart-ass point do you think you're making here?
Beautiful!
Hello how are you doing..?
Roselata 👍
