Love the fact that you don’t just put parts together. You tinker, fabricate, design and construct parts, all while showing us what you are doing. Your willingness to do things without fear is so encouraging. Thank you.
Stay alert. Protect your head and especially your hair. These gears and engine parts can grab your hair and cause a major accident. Greetings from Brazil!
Yes! I was thinking that too! 😱 A helmet is an essential safety precaution especially seeing as things like the steering etc can fail! ⛑ Take care and stay safe Sarah! 🙂
Just before the outbreak of WWII, the Veronica Lake hairstyle became _the_ thing in women’s hairstyles. But when women began to work in machine shops for the war, that hair became a major hazard, and women’s hairstyles went short.
so true i also have long hair and whatever i build, i have to put my hair in a tight roll & every time when i use power tools i do it also because its can hurt a lot & its can pull all the skins and flesh to the bones or do more damage & when i drive i wear proper protection hood so the hair gets under coveralls or jacket & always if you use lathe-drill bench or what ever power tools don't wear a long sleeved shirt or jewelry or a watch because they are the most common reasons that someone has had a bad accident
I love how much of a unique engineering adventure this ended up being. I mean, on one hand it sucks to have had to replace *so* much of the original go-kart, but in doing so, you've learned a ton about them, _and_ had the opportunity to improve the thing way beyond the original.
I really like the way you get details just the way you want them. I would like to chime in on the meaning of the word "faster"! You're accurate in saying "faster accelerating to the limit speed." From my racing experience (mostly armature) - motorcycles (AMA licensed) and cars (SCCA licensed) both, I want to add - Faster Lap Times! If you have a go-kart road circuit nearby, I'm sure the work you did on it will (would - 1-year-old video) give you faster lap speeds (lower times). Cheers, TG.
Two years ago i followed + watched Sarah-n-Tuned for kicks n giggles and Beauty, today i realize I'm subscribed to the most fun, unique and happening channel in the Entire Universe! Ok, true, never seen the Entire Universe but come on our girl is Fire. 👍
This brings back memories! I used to drive racing go karts in the '60s. Most were powered by McCulloch chain saw 2 stroke engines with direct drive. They'd do around 60 mph. Some owners had exotic Italian engines that were faster when they could keep them running. Have a blast with this, Sara. Karting is so much fun!!
I have to admit that I’d like to play with one too. Although I have such fond memories of driving down a dirt road, my arm stretched over the back of the kart and adjusting the needle valve, while blood ran off my neck because of that damn barbed wire fence... 😵
I still have that childhood dream unforfilled..having an MR2 SW20 is kinda close to it, but it still needs to be done, main problem I wouldn't fit into child sized carts anymore. And it would need something in the line of 1l engine...
Go-kart turned out amazing Sarah! You definitely look more comfortable in the newly positioned seat. Your overall attention to detail is spot on. I'm really impressed!
I’m really happy for you. It looks like you’re living life to its finest, doing projects you like (and making YT money at it I assume), and more importantly, having fun doing it. We’re all finite, so you might as well have as much fun as possible along the way. Many work in jobs they hate for ~ 40 years or so, retire, and sit in front of the TV which is a waste of life. Keep going and best of luck!
Really cool go kart. Great job. Your mini-bolster wiggle was awesome. Your speed indicator/ponytail didn't stick straight out the back suggesting you didn't have the pedal to the metal or maybe the wind was at your back. Lots of fun watching you have fun.
I must say; this has been a fantastic go cart journey! I congratulate everyone involved in this build including Fred and Jefff the dog! Thanks, Sara! I always enjoy the knowledge and comedy you provide in all your videos! You guys rock!!!!
FYI if ever you mess with fiberglass and get itchy use a 3M lint roller the (sticky tape kind )and roll it all over your skin. It pulls all the fibers out with ease. It was a life saver when I was replacing my floor in my boat.
Possibly the most entertaining part of this series has been seeing you use that super nice Bendpak lift to hold up a go cart in various stages of disassembly and assembly.
Tip from a pro fabricator. When you are trying to locate positions for holes for a threaded portion like your rivnuts and you are having troubles. Take a bolt that threads into the rivnut or whatever you are trying to find a hole for. Cut the head off and sharpen the top of the what is now just a threaded rod and sharpen it to a sharp point/tip. Thread those into your pieces, mount your seat, grab a hammer and hit where you think the pointy bolts are. They will create a center punch into the seat. Remove seat, drill holes. Works perfectly every time. I use this method all the time when trying to find blind holes. Once your done, remove the pointy studs and save them for the next project. I have a few that I keep on hand. Also a drill and a sanding disk works great for sharpening them. Same method I use for sharpening my tungsten for the TIG. Hope this helps.
I think this is the first go-cart full rebuild I have ever seen on the internet. The effort you put in is astounding and inspiring. I don't think I have seen anyone so dedicated to getting a go-cart rebuilt and running again. Thank you for sharing this experience - I am inspired to try this on my own.
Hi Sarah, just started watching your channel recently enough and im super impressed, love your ideas and quirky dorkyness, I hope you get millions of viewers .
Glad this is not the last video on the go kart. It’s so much fun watching the incremental improvements. Maybe do the final video like a regular car review, with bean scores and penguin scores?
My heart sank when you said at the beginning this was going to be the last go kart vid, but hay hallelujah ⛅️ at the end when you said there would be more.
The cart looks great! I think one of the main reasons I really enjoy your videos is....”That Big Smile On Your Face” when you are driving most anything! 😁 Thanks!
You have done a great job on the go cart, it looks awesome. You have upped your game on the quality of your videos. Using time lapse is nice and it was edited so that a 3hr 26min chunk of work showed clearly what you did in 17sec. I have really enjoyed the go cart videos and look forward to the next installment.
Solutions for your problem with steering wheel coming loose. 1) Milling 2 pieces of round material that fit on each side of the bracket(red) that is used to hold the steering wheel. Then add 4 washers, 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom. If you use brass it would prevent any squeaky noises. 2) The nut that you tighten 12:40 could be welded to a milled piece of round rod. This rod should be long enough to protrude out the bracket where the bearing sits. A bolt head could be welded on to the rod. The head should of cause be large enoug that it could not be pull through the bracket(blue).
Keep “...the little something different” coming, Sarah! I enjoy your OCD and the mix of things you do. The go-kart series has been very refreshing, like a cold 12 oz can of whatever on a late afternoon in July.
Hi Sarah, I thoroughly enjoyed that video, talk about, 'in the room' and invested in every moment, yup it's a go-kart and not a car but the whole video was a joy 'cos you appeared to be enjoying the work you were doing. Great flow to the video too, which means great editing and that can make a film (or break it). All round this video is a success, shows you off in all sorts of ways and levels, a shiny gem in a brilliant video collection. Thanks for the fun.
Sarah, I love it!!!! A great video. you worked so hard and put so much time in to the cart. You are truly my hero. It was showing everyone what determination accomplishes, Really you are one special lady. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!Dave in Ohio
Thanks Sarah, that was fun and your Go-Kart turned out beautiful. Glad to hear there's more coming and a project but.... Don't forget your poor old TT...
Sarah, go stand in front of the cart and look at the sideways angle of the steering axle. You need a heim/rose joint as the lower bearing. Any other axial bearing will bind.

I love your personality and sense of humor. You're great Sarah!!
Your amusement driving it is priceless.
You make me smile 😊
I love how you rebuilt it, Great job! 👍😀
Love your attention to detail and, as I keep finding with my own projects, if something can go wrong, it will... unbelievably so at times!
Love the cart content. Just Sara living life and enjoying it!
Hello, I'm a person on the internet and I quite enjoyed this go kart rebuild series. 👍👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
All these go cart videos make me want to build one now. This time much better than the death traps I built as a kid.

Hey Sarah. Just a thought. Maybe put an oversized washer and a thrust bearing on the end of the driveshaft to keep it from pulling through.

Check with Speedway Motors about replacement "Rod End Bearings" they should have one that fits the tube and steering shaft

Sarah Sarah Sarah! My day is now so much better. ❤️☘️
You are always a breath of fresh air!
i love the random crazyness in your videos almost as much as the car content. the "no f*cks given" attitude is nice to see.
I love the color design on the cart! It looks like a track cart not just a beater but purpose built but that is how Sarah rolls!😎

That go-kart is just plain awesome! 👌
you have DAS now! (this makes no sense if you didn't follow F1 last season)
I got excited when I saw Billet Aluminum being used on this go-kart!
You need a cotter pin on that steering column

How about a helmet?
did you do the right thing?

Thanks Sarah, that was fun and your Go-Kart turned out beautiful.
Glad to hear there's more coming and a project but.... Don't forget your poor old TT...
Haha!! You freakin crack me up!
Nice! All you need is a stop collar (2 piece) under the orange squeaky part on the steering shaft....
I'M suprised UA-cam allowed You to Show Your TT's on Camera
There is a groove in the housing that holds the steering bearing in . It is for the snap ring that will hold the bearing in place.
I don’t know why, but the term “janky-ass” amuses me.
Comes up in IT all the time. I think I used it 30 times last year. And yeah, hella amusing.
That's a cool looking kart. Its too had you have the steering problems. I hope you get it repaired soon. Cheers!

Totally fun build series. I enjoy your humor and that you picked a build that all of us “enthusiasts” would overlook.
Careful your long hair can get caught on the engine shaft and it will be a bad day. Be safe wear a helmet also 👍👊
Sarah, go stand in front of the cart and look at the sideways angle of the steering axle.
You need a heim/rose joint as the lower bearing.

You could add clamp spacers either side of the top steering bush on the steering shaft to keep the lower bearing in place in the frame. Steve.
