Thanks for all of the great info. Your videos convinced me to purchase a R7 and the 100-400 lens. I’ve had it for about three weeks now. It’s been lots of fun and a huge challenge , what a great hobby! I was born in Alaska ,currently living in Ohio. But Alaska is in my blood, So your videos have had a large impact on how I have proceeded in this fascinating path I have just begun. Thanks again
Thanks for all the highlighted issues, given i am kinda using 200D MK2, which is the exact same body and dials with EP17 battery, i am kinda used to the issues, so as i am thinking of switching to R10, i feel these are a non-issue for a hobby photographer like me. All your inputs on R10 have been great throughout the series , in fact the entire R series details you have shared is intensive and helpful. Good to see the R10 made it to a close friend and it will be a fine asset for him/her. Keep warm and have amazing light.. cheers!
I am still using the Canon Rebel SL3 (250D) with optical viewfinder and more than 1000 photos with the same EP-17 battery. I tested the RP, R7, R8 but back to SL3 again. 😊
You do what you have to do, no explanations needed, sheep looked magnificent (what is it’s main predator). Lookin forward to next vid maybe you’ll have your backup to the backup.
Great vid , I like your style. Bona Fide reasons for selling, that’s the thing , everyone has different needs from their gear. For me i never shoot video so its kind of ideal. Couple of spare batteries and we’re off! Also i feel the R7ii or similar will arrive sooner rather than later and the R10 will bridge the gap. Jeeez it never stops does it lol 😂
I’m a beginner, really enjoying the R10 but my hands are SO cramped on the body. I have very long fingers/tall hands. Also the rolling shutter is starting to annoy me a little. Wondering if I should upgrade to the R7 right now or if I should wait for the mark 2 whenever that comes out. What do you think? Cheers.
Its a fun and good camera. Just saw a way to help a buddy out and do a move on gear i have been wanting to do for a few months. Video incoming on that one very soon.
Valid reasons, it is what it is and I am still finding out the best way to use mine, managed to get 3 batteries (UK user)and don’t video much so it suits me. Just wish I had it with the 18-150 zoom instead of 18-45 zoom. Bought second hand 18-135 but it’s darn heavy when walking rough ground! Pleased with results having upgraded from Sony bridge camera.
I am a new subscriber, only recently saw your channel. Just wanted to say it’s a great channel and I like your style. I am a wildlife photographer in UK
I am a beginner and I just bought the r10. I have noticed that the r10 does not have Ibis. Is that a deal breaker in your opinion? Can it be compensated by using lenses with IS instead?
IBIS is not a deal breaker. It helps more with the photographer shake than anything and super low shutter speeds. With wildlife we shoot higher shutter speeds for stop anyway and our lenses has IS in them (long lenses). So if you see motion blur or its not as sharp as you like then up your shutter speed
You don't need ibis at all. Most of the lenses out now have IS in them. And you don't really want to run both at the same time. The r7 has issues running both at the same time.
Theres only one reason anyone would choose an R10(I own one). Budget. I think pics in this video was with the R5? Anyone watching this video will immediately spot the difference between this and the pics shot with the R10, the one with the moose fight. The colors here are more even, images are sharper, lesser noise... . Being brutally honest, R10 is great as an entry level camera for beginner photographers learning the art. But as soon as that beginner tag has worn off, its immediately time to upgrade, or move it to backup. The vid is just awesome btw.
EVERY image and video of the wildlife was with the R10. The camera was bought as a backup camera and a studio broll camera. And I shot several video using ONLY the R10. Knowing how to shoot and process can work wonders with any camera.
Ya not even remotely what I was talking about. I explained why the camera didn't fit in where I hope it would in my workflow, but it was still a good camera. Talked extensively where the value was in this camera. And the other 7 videos or so where I used the camera and talked about its value.
hope the R10 went to a good home. Better auto focus than the new overpriced slow sensor low fps too much pixel Sony A7r5.
Yes and he is having a lot of fun with the camera.

Wolves, coyotes, bears, wolverines and lynx prey on sheep, and eagles also prey on lambs.

Great video! So nice to get information 1st hand from actual user. BTW, my R7 will FINALLY be delivered tomorrow after waiting almost 5 months.
Grats and Thanks!
I am not surprised, you gave it a good run! I am surprised In Body IS did not make the list! Hmmm.

oh IS didn't make list due to all my lenses are IS and worked fine.

Agree with everything you said. Look around for a RF 100-400 if you want a light wildlife affordable lens.

Welcome aboard! and thanks
Did the lack of waterproofing put you off at all?
nope.

Can I ask what you used to film this video? r7? Which lens?
It looks great but most r7 vlogs I’ve seen suffer from ibis wobble with a wide angle lens.
RF 14-35 lens
@@WILDALASKA Thanks for replying and keep up the good work

I didn't see you in a R10 to start 🤣🤣🤣
I might keep one to use on a slippery log with a kit lens.
lol
@WildAlaska - do you still have the smallrig cage or did it go with the camera?
I didn't have a cage for the R10, just the R7
I see this video on the day i ordered the r10 😅
🥺
Imagine trying to compare a budget cam to more exspensive cameras 🤦♂️
