Bit late but 2 great vids Colin,Thank you for sharing. I'm going to try a bit of Astrophotography over the winter,I've a Sony A6400 and a samyan?,f2 12mm lens,I know the basics and will trial and error between now and the end of March when I plan go Tenerife, Can I ask regarding getting to locations, are the parking spots all along the road or do you basically just pull off the road, park and hike to a spot. Thanks again, loked and subed.
Thanks for the kinds words! So both spots in this video are accessible by car, I basically parked along the road where possible and made the photos. The spot in the other video was a 20-ish min (flat ground) hike from the parking lot. Hope this helps! Enjoy Tenerife!
Hi, great shots, really enjoyed it 😊 I'll go to Tenerife in two weeks - and because I'm dependent on another person, I cannot ask them to spend the whole night with me - so I plan to start taking some pictures around 4:30AM. The time is tight (I've read it's ideal for milky way to shot between midnight and 5AM - is that right?), so I'm wondering if it would be too much to request a google maps location for this specific spot? 😀 I'm afraid I'll loose time by looking for an ideal spot. 😬
Thanks for watching :) If visiting in May, you could start a bit earlier and have nice shots of the Milky Way Core rising above the horizon, which is around 02.30 AM - 03.00 AM. Around 05.00 AM the Milky Way Core is a bit higher in the sky, leaning towards the left, very nice for vertical photos in which you can capture a lot of sky. I'll share the locations, but the Milky Way is positioned differently when you're there so you'll probably still have to walk around a bit. anyways Just copy and paste these coordinates into google maps. Location 1: 28.334912, -16.491278 Location 2: 28.305196, -16.501885 Location 3 (from part 1): 28.231774, -16.638792 Good luck :)
Hello there, awesome video and beautiful images! You have a new subscriber ;) I came across this because I will also visit Tenerife in about two months. Are the roads up there all free to drive at night, or is there something to be aware of? Greetings from Germany :)
Hey David, thanks for the compliments! All main roads are open at night so you can go wherever you like. All you have to be aware of is to drive safely ;) I believe only the small road towards the cable car station is closed (with all the parking spots) and the private roads close to the telescopes at the observatory, but these won’t hinder you in getting around. Have fun on your trip!
Happy new year and the best in 2022 Colin! Great images you got and I bet you feel great about it! Very nice area for milky way photography. Would you say its bottle 2 or 1? My big ambition for this year is camping and getting incredible shots with Huawei p50pro smartphone and doing professional astrophotography with Huawei p40pro on a tripod. I've taken shots with it in bottle 6 skies and wow it looked amazing and Andromeda M31 came out so good only using tripod. Soon I'm going to bottle 1 and 2 skies with phone and tripod and can't wait to see what it really can do. I've seen shots with Huawei p40pro milky way shots and they look awesome. Did you visit the observatory? Would be great for you taking visit. You know much about the observatory? Stay safe and clear skies throughout 2022!!!
Happy new year :) Yeah it’s definitely Bortle 1, depending on the humidity it might go up to Bortle 2 due to refraction by the water in the air slightly increasing the brightness of the sky. Sadly the observatory was closed for visitors due to COVID, but I’ll definitely go there once it’s possible. Sounds like you got some solid plans for this year! Good luck and clear skies!
Nice video!! ✌😀 Like the Time-lapses!!
Fantastic, heading to tenerife tomorrow for a week. Very much looking forward to some astrophotography
Thanks! Enjoy the dark skies!
Prachtig!
Bedankt!
