The year is 1978, these 3 ladies were hired by Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo to continue the legacy where Cheryl Mason-Jacks, Gwendolyn Oliver and Cassandra "Ann" Wooten were forced to leave off their journey as The Ritchie Family.
They just had recorded an album entitled American Generation, the groups fifth album but their debut record as The Ritchie Family.
During this concert Dodie, Ednah and Jacqui start with singing the hits made famous worldwide by their predecessors.
Recorded in France for A 2, 1978, broadcasted September 3, 1980.
Special thanks to Ruud Dirkzwager for the brilliant restoration of the audio sound!
REQUEST: There exist another Live Concert from Japan 1980, I'd love to upload that as well for the fans, so if someone has that and likes to share that. Pls. contact me: hansr63@hotmail.com
This is fucking amazing!!! I really didnt know ??? I feel like a jackass now!! Their music and group was amazing way b4 I knew!!!!!! Whooo!!! I love it!
Le Palace Disco in Paris. The true European version of New-York's unique Studio54, along with the Limelight in Montreal (Canada), these clubs were my favourite dance floors. Missing those days !
Tearing the floor up with maybe my all-time favorite anthem 'American Generation' The show hardly 'Light Fantastic' ...and the paying public weren't exactly 'Jumpin' ', but these Classy Disco Ladies were on * Fire * and lit everything up just the same!...
Great concert.
J adore
AWESOME! Thanks for posting this.
How the hell did they dance like that and sing on key???? Amazing! I didn't know they was from Philly too!!
Not the original dance
Ironically, but the new formation of the group sounds exactly the same as an original vocalists when singing the early repertoire. That's great!
this is great!!!
wow that just blew me a way !
Jezus wat zijn ze goed
❤️❤️❤️
American Generation Tour 1978
the then "freshly" reformed Ritchie family, with all of them doing live vocalsv.Their vocals are on point, a proof that these girls coul really sing. I luv this period and this appearance of the Ritchie Family, sexy, sassy with nice costumes and a dynamite disco pop music. Especially the last song, "I feel disco good", is for me one of the best disco songs ever! In this formation they should have been huge, and not just famous. But does anyone know why the producers decided to change the formation completely? Up to today noone, neither the producers, nor the ladies of the first formation has revealed the reason. But for me, a good choice

Mucho mejor las originales ,Cassandra,Gwendolyn y Cheryl

N as in Nice? You were great here, Ednah!
this is ridicolous ..the new formation is ''singing ' what they didnt even record ,over the original s group vocals ...at least thay could have given a try with their own vocals !!
But they do song the hits of the old formation live, and apparently so good, that you didn't even notice it, you thought they lip synced. Well, not dear, not on this concert
no. They actually sing. But they sing UPON the original ones (including some of the leads! In African Queen, for instance). Good old Jaques didnt' even supply the instrumental tracks, lol..
Nice and all but I rather enjoyed the original girls better.
It was a pity that Ednah Holt left the group. She´s is a better singer than Vera Brown who replaced her later.
That's a question of taste, Ednah is a fine vocalist but Vera Brown also has a great strong voice and changed the group's sound to a higher level.
I think vera had good stage presence
Ednah is cute
The line-up with Vera is my favourite. She had such a powerful voice
