My God this is how you make a UA-cam tutorial. It was clear. To the point. And you didn't say one single word. Bravo sir

I did not need to take both covers off on my 2007 Vstar 650, just the one that covers the switch. Just 2 screw's and that's it. The cover comes right off and nestles right back in. Will save a little time and effort.

I’m stuck. I can’t get the rear fastener in. The contact is spring loaded and won’t allow me to thread in. I tried shifting into a different gear. No luck. Need help please.

I have no idea which fastener you're talking about. There's no spring loaded contact that needs to be removed.

@@HeffTheElder Thanks. I got it. The part I ordered was the wrong size and just a hair too large. Frustrating!

My son changed it so I didn’t get to see but now when I start the bike I lean up to go it turns off. Any ideas what happened?

There are three switches that prevent the bike launching forward when the engine is started. One is on the clutch lever assembly. The second is operated by the kickstand. The third is the neutral switch. These three switches work together. I'd say the one that's causing your problem is the kickstand one. If your Son removed the kickstand as I did, the engine will stop when you try to engage gear.
