    Nice video! Probably worth mentioning that if you use this method, you actually need to measure ½ the amount you want to trim. In your example, if you measure 2”, you’ll be trimming 4” off with the fold.
    Also, for those with a zipper foot, use a zipper foot instead to get closer to the original hem; and in the absence of a hump jumper, folded fabric under the back of the presser foot works just as well (so you don’t have to raise the presser foot and lose thread tension).
    Keep ‘em coming!

    • @StylishDTailors
      @StylishDTailors  2 роки тому +8

      Yup, that's why I mentioned that the factory hem was a half inch, meaning I would have only taken off an inch and a half if I measured from the bottom.

    • @Mike_Thompson
      @Mike_Thompson 2 роки тому +36

      @@StylishDTailors huh? No, he was talking about the fold not the factory hem. If you take off 2 in of folded fabric you're actually taking off 4 in from the total length of your jeans. Anyways, thanks for the video.

    Terrific tutorial! I am only 5ft. tall and must hem every pair of pants that I buy even if they say ‘petite’. I have a very old sewing machine which doesn’t have the piece that’s removable, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to sew them on the machine. So I sewed them by hand, which did not take very long and they came out perfectly! Wish I had seen this video sooner, then all of my other jeans would look so much better. TY!

    Happy Memorial Day, SD! I tailored some joggers that were too long and wide in the inside seam following your 'sweatpants to jogger' and 'how to hem jeans' tutorials. Found you way back in 2020. Thankful I was finally able to put your teachings to use. This project took less than an hour. I'd rate my final results 7/10. Your video gives me the confidence to hem jeans. I am very, very new to sewing. Hubby gave me a sewing machine for my birthday so I could hem his jeans. Really liked the close up shots. Especially the shot showing you pulling the pins out as you sew - duhhhhh I was sticking myself as I was feeding the material. Now I know to remove the pins as I sew the seam. I'll be back for more videos. Thanks.

    Maybe I messed up but what I did 3”, I put it up to the other leg that was still long it was like 6” shorter. I moved to it -“1.5” and it was bout 3” from the other leg.

    • @StylishDTailors
      @StylishDTailors  Місяць тому +1

      You did it right, it doubles, so when you held the altered leg next to the unaltered one thats why you got those measurements. If you wanted to take off 1 inch for instance you would measure 1/2 and inch instead of 1 inch since it doubles. I hope that makes sense !

    Don't know how to thank you. In India, if it looks like that one before, people from middle class society start assuming you're backward. But this method changed all my ugly jeans

    Gonna try that myself, instead of using machine that I don't have. Gonna use needle and thread and my fingers

    The number of people who look at 0:04 and genuinely think the Before looks better😂. Personally I’d go slightly longer than your After, but to wear the Before and think that’s styling is just ...lol

    I made mine too long. Any way to fix that?(there would be three layers now right? Already cut it off). Ps. Did 3 jeans and 3 tee shirts because of you, first time!!! Love your work bro, keep it up and the haters can keep wearing potato sacks bahah

      No worries, if its too long you can just follow the same process. Ultimately you will end up cutting off what you already altered. Hope that makes sense.

    As a 25 year denim designer myself. Guys don’t like the hem riding the shin as they walk, socks on display like a suit lol. A little creasing length helps this shit

    Damn that's a super-close-up zoom, I can see the individual atoms within the Demin. Just a thought, given that you are earning millions of dollars from YT and need to process your taxes for efficiently etc, you are probably classed in the same tax-bracket as Tom Cruise now, you can re-claim expenses on manicures along with moisturiser hand cream. Will beauty care be a new second channel ?
