@@augustdrums1247 nah... many drummers could have sounded like him. He's good but not amazing. There's literally 16 year old girls on youtube that can play Hot For Teacher perfectly 😃
People don’t truly understand how great this song is…it’s got so much going on. Hell every Van Halen song does, but 1984 is so good and this is on of the GEMS!
Always like this song and House of Pain at the end of 1984 always thought they were the two best songs on the album especially for drumming. This guy nailed it.
Literally my first Rock and Roll album I bought as a kid. I was 11. My Mom was appalled at the smoking baby on the front cover. How innocent was that compared to today? Still one of my all time favorite albums for songs like this that you never hear. RIP Eddy. Miss him. BTW. Going to see Sammy and company tomorrow night in Dallas with my 16 year old son who is a rocker. CAN’T WAIT!!!!!
This rocks! One of my favorite VH songs. Feels like it could've been a Led Zeppelin song. The energy, instrumentation, vocal lines, dynamics and overall vibe has always reminded me of The Song Remains The Same
I know for a fact I would have played the ride with two hands until I didn’t have to. This was crushing it. This is a killer cover with attention to detail. 🤘
I've worn out three cassette tapes a couple of vinyl records and some CDs listening to this 1984 album And let me tell u this song is in my blood and in my DNA so much so that my great grand children will hear this song and be instantly in love w it & won't know why That's how good of a cover this is. Every single beat of it was spot on Bravo!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
And that is how you drum that freaking song!!! Thanks for the fantastic drum journey throughout that entire song . You nailed it! As they say back stage after a show "great job" 👊🏼.
This guy is awesome being able to do one of the best powerhouse jazz drummers of all time that used the whole kit brilliantly, in a world that only gave Eddie notoriety.
I have painted 2002’s also. Incredible sounding cymbals . Awesome playing. Listened to this band growing up in the 80’s made me an inspired drummer. Thanks Van Halen. Memories continue to stay in my soul 🥁
I'm a drummer and have rototoms and Simmons drums and Pauste cymbsls because of Alex Van Halen. I have played that song many times and seen many covers of it on UA-cam. That's the best I've ever seen it played. Most people do the ride cymbal pattern with two hands. However, you did it the way it was supposed to be done with one hand, but you also did it with power and finesse which is about impossible to do. You nailed it. I've got a feeling you could even do better. Keep working on it and maybe get some roto toms and see if you can outdo yourself. I mean you've already climbed Mount Everest but maybe see if you can jump up and catch a star. You know what I mean? It's one thing to possess the skills to play the song, but it's another to have the groove and feel and power that it takes to really play this correctly. You reached a whole new level to do that. If Wolfgang ever decided to do a tribute to his father you should seriously be the drummer. Alex is done and doesn't want to play anymore without Ed anyway.
Holy F***'ing S**t! That was absolutely amazing! I always loved that song, a fav of 1984, but never realized how complex it was on the drumming side. I was always focused on EVH. Thanks for a killer drum cover! Inspiring!
Dude killed it!! Awesome tune on the album along with Drop dead legs and House of pain. Eddy and Dave were cute up front while Alex was working his ass off along with Michael on bass
WADE!! Very impressive!! Well done! I saw this show live in NY and NJ I think if I remember correctly and what a great show. the 1984 Album was so awesome and every track. Man the memories. Seeing you play it I can now imagine Alex trying to play it now at 65-70 years old because I can see you getting a little winded!! LOL Listen to the amazing backing vocals from Mikey. Man this show was so good.
Spot on. Nice snare, Alex's snare drum always best in my book. Great song, house of pain one of my favorite too. I didn't realize the double bass section during the lead. Really good man!
Just an incredible job. That is not an easy one and seeing it from different angles shows how complex it is and also reaffirms how tired I was after watching you crank that out!
Hey thank you! I got pretty close! Paiste cymbals help. I basically just kept the batter heads and tight and the snare strainer a little loose. I’ve always thought he had such a distinct snare sound. Anyway, thank you!
This is one of those sleeper tracks from 1984. It’s got all the swing of classic VH.
WHAT?!?!?! It’s one of the BEST tunes on the album.
@@mikeb598 Right! "Sleeper", as in it didn't get enough exposure and went under the radar, not "sleeper" as in boring.....
@@hawkeyeted great save. You have redeemed urself. 😃
Forgot about that song! JAAAAAM!!

😂
Van Halen’s best song ever. Nicely done.
It's such a tough choice but yeah I think you might be right bro
Yes, my opinion as well. Their best song. I probably have heard it 5000 times and it never gets boring.
Peak Van Halen right there
My fav Eddie riff. Absolutely killer. This and House Of Pain give 1984 the heavy.
Though I love this track, it's not there best, my opinion
Fav VH song. Alex VH must be praised for coming up with this drumming. Such a seminal drummer.
Alex is one of most underrated drummers.
Overshadowed by his younger brother unfortunately.
Wow. Never realized how complex Alex’s parts were. Mostly focused on the guitar. Great playing.
What's complex 😂😂
Alex is just as important to the VH sound as Eddie is. With out Alex the band wouldn't sound like VH
Thank you!

Well done with the infamous Alex chokes! Bad ass!
I’ve always liked this song. Drumming is spot-on. But holy shyte, this guy gave me a newfound respect for Alex Van Halen
Possibly AVH best performance. It’s absolutely awesome.
Me too! Alex was an excellent drummer! Wade is great and I can’t figure out why he doesn’t have more subscribers
If you look up Ray Luzier and Mike Portnoy playing on Alex’s 2015 kit and breaking down some of the VH songs you’ll probably find even more respect!
AVH!
DAMN!! AWESOME DUDE!!!!!!!!

Such a cool Van Halen “Hidden Gem” and your playing is really powerful. Fun to watch 🤘

One of Van Halen‘s best tunes in my opinion. You totally killed the cover and your drums were tuned perfect for this song. 🤘🏼

Nice, right down to the drum tones and 2002s! You have chops, brother!
In 81 I saw Van Halen perform this song. They were at the top of their game. This cover is every bit as good as that. Well done!
This wasn’t released until 1984
They may have had it for awhile, but yeah it was on ‘84
@@surfcollector They used to jam this song a lot live. I've heard them do it well before 1984 on bootlegs.
