Once a year at work we have a "Safety Day" where reps from different companies show up with their tools and we have a bbq. The only tool rep is Milwaukee and it's fun to get our hands on some tools that we've only seen on yt. The one thing that I find embarrassing for them is, they only know about the tools on their table. A couple years ago I was asking when the M18 Hatchet Chainsaw was coming out. They told me that there's no such thing, only the M12 exists. Just recently at HD a rep had their new M12 flat batteries for their coats. I asked him what the amp hour was. He said it doesn't have one because it's not a battery. I was confused and asked him if you hook a battery up to it and he goes "No no. It's got a battery inside." Long story short, Milwaukee puts a lot of reps out their but their knowledge is very limited.
I think that if you're in both the Dewalt and Milwaukee line you really can't go too wrong. I often times own the same tool from each manufacturer and I pick my favorites. Currently my favorite drill is the current compact Dewalt and my favorite impact driver is still the gen 3 Milwaukee. I really like my fuel Sawzall and I prefer my Dewalt string trimmer over the Milwaukee. The 60v Dewalt grinder to me is my favorite grinder. I used to be a Dewalt only guy, but even though it annoys my OCD sometimes, it's nice to be invested in both platforms.
I like your thinking. I appreciate the slightly more compact size and reduced weight over the full bore DeWalt or Flex offerings. Older I get the less absolute power and speed I look for. It has to get the job done of course but I have to enjoy using the tool. So my personal all round favourites are Milwaukee and Metabo HPT/Hikoki. Terrific all rounders across their ranges with the Milwaukee range head and shoulders ahead with the size of their range and availability.
I have been watching your videos for the past week and i must say, Nice content. I enjoyed and learned a lot from the videos about impacts vs combi drills, I’ve always thought Bosch made great bits but couldn’t have guessed it’s this good.
@@JenkinsMowing86 I got the fuel hackzall for $87. And the fuel vacuum for $220 with a free 8 amp hour battery. I specifically was shopping the vacuum against ryobi. At the time, the ryobi was $200 without a battery.
I have around 25-30 cordless tools. I'm 55 % dewalt and 25 % milwaukee, 15 % hikoki and 5 bosch. I have both m12 and m18. Used to be almost only dewalt, but I like access to specific tools that i like.
The Hole Hawg is the tool that got me to buy Milwaukee tools. I liked it better than the other options, and then the rest of the tools are more than good enough for what I need, so it made sense to just stay with the same batteries, although I don't use the same size battery on every tool.
I'm not saying Milwaukee is the best, but I used to use their tools professionally, and now that I'm retired, I still purchase them. Also, Milwaukee is located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. I graduated from Brookfield East HS. If that makes me a fan boy, I'm sorry.
I think the Fuel name plus the tool being on Home Depot front of the store plus a Red color brand make it easier. Now is being more than a decade that I’m in the field of construction, repairs installation etc. I own mainly Milwaukee and never had a problem with their tools or the batteries (batteries will eventually age like any other brand and I agree that the 12.0 batteries can be an issue sometimes) Edit: I should review more Milwaukee tools on my YT and share my thoughts
Very well said my friend!! I may be more of a fanboy of Milwaukee because of their M12 line but I’m a tool addict above everything and my wallet hates me for it…lol!
you should give the retailer Agreement contract that Milwaukee makes every one sign and also the fact they lease the space in stores and stores only get a percentage of sales I have only glanced at the contract but according to my Nephew that sis my Area rep its a one hell of a contract
Thanks for the video, nice to see a perspective that looks at other factors. Do you have any thoughts on Makita (Japan market) vs Makita (US market)? I've come across a couple videos that seem to imply the internals and performance are different from the Japanese market vs US.
I like ridgid. Lifetime warranty made by the same manufacturer that makes milwaukee. Some models look almost identical with parts interchangeable. Never had to use the Lifetime warranty but its there and ridgid cost less.
Versatility is the reason I buy Milwaukee. If I need a tool for a big job that doesn’t require lugging around gas jugs and a clunky power source, they might have it. Their impact driver and drill are very meh. But other brands aren’t keeping up with their tool line up.
We run 4 different battery platforms. The nice thing about that is we get to pick the best performance/value between the brands, and it's almost never Milwaukee. That said if we were to trim down to one it would probably be Milwaukee. Their tools are consistently good, but rarely great. Other brands might have great tools, but they have some garbage stuff mixed in. DeWalts nailers? Total trash, Bosch can't seem to make a decent impact driver to save their life. Loved every Flex tool so far, but their lineup is still pretty limited. So Milwaukee is a great Goldilocks brand. I haven't been blown away by any of their tools since the first Gen Fuel stuff, but I've also not been disappointed.
Milwaukee lost my business when I had a 14 month old 6" braking grinder of theirs fail and they wouldnt warranty it. I was to send it in, then $162 to diagnose it and then parts and labor was to be additional to repair it. Flex is all I look to now.
Milwaukee introduced their 12v platform and it got guys buying something else besides Dewalt. Then they upsold them on the 18v Fuel line then locked them in with the job boxes. Classic sales funnel.
I would put the average Milwaukee tool slightly ahead of the average Dewalt tool. Flex is about to pull out front but still too early to make a decision. I did just sell my m18 compact drill on marketplace though because that thing SUCKS
I find it interesting you say there’s no serious competition to the M12 Milwaukee line and I totally understand why you say that. What about the DeWalt Atomic/compact range with the 1.7ah Powerstack? I know it’s different but I’ve bought into it and I don’t see why anyone would bother anymore with 12v tools? I get it’s a Milwaukee strength but has DeWalt found a way to counter it albeit differently?
@ToolswithSoAlz they aren't though. Battery technology has 12v tools in a league they never were before. I think it all depends on your definition of "better". I have a both 18v ans 12v, the 12v get used more oven than the 18v now.
@@minhdaubu2363 yes and no to your comment. Since Home Depot is always running some type of deal like special of the day or buy a tool and get free battery which you can hack (by returning the battery) and getting the tool at discounted price(up to 45% off)
Milwaukee is like the iPhone, while dewalt is the android. iPhone is easy on the eyes and is simple to use for simple minded people. Android is just the overall better phone and that is what Milwaukee and DeWalt debate are for trade people
I am battery locked to dewalt, not complaining, have had no issues, and my tools are great. That said though stack has nothing on packout :)
Milwaukee has a simpler naming scheme that is easier to understand than dewalt's. It makes the brand more approachable for people new to power tools.
I agree

I can't afford Milwaukee if a cheap brands can do the same work.
With all the deals HD has, it’s barely more expensive than Ryobi brushless.
For many deals, it’s cheaper than Ryobi.

Millwaukee has a crop ton of industry specific tools that I don't see Dewalt have. Like Electrical Lineman crimpers, and pipe cutting etc.
I will admit milwakee has hands down one of the best m12 line ups compared to makita, dewalt exc..
Very clever video.
Milwaukee is usually my go to. What's your thoughts on Bosch?
Bosch is really good for tools people seemingly have stopped buying
Great video! I think the bright red of Milwaukee attracts the eye, they look Great too.
That is certainly part of the attraction

Right now, the Metabo HPT Triple Hammer Bolt is easily my favorite. As far as the fastest, Flex
