I have the same problem and though the video is easy to follow it does not show a file that is already password protected to show the process. Please help
If your Word document is encrypted with a password and you’ve forgotten it, the process to remove the encryption is much more complicated, as Microsoft Word uses AES-128 or AES-256 encryption. There are online tools that can potentially help, but I have not used any of them.
Your video for a layman as myself was so effectively useful (if that's actually an expression) it made me feel like a hacker😃(but in a positive way Lol)...this was very well explained and well executed thank you so much
This process only works for removing editing restrictions (read-only, formatting restrictions), not for encrypted files. If the document was encrypted with a password, recovering it without the password is not straightforward and may require specialized tools.
It only works for editing restricted only. I lost password. I saved the documents in word. When I try to save it to rich text format. It asked me password. The save us is inactive.

What about documents that are password protected so that they cannot be opened at all without the password?

How about a password to even OPEN the document?
