This was made in 10 days from concept of the arrangement to execution, live in Valentineos Bar in Brighton UK Ren was home for Christmas with Kai Lacey from Ren's team and Scarlett Fae and Silvia Mwenze who are Singers based in Brighton
When Ren does a retake he usually takes the music and adds on his own lyrics as in Bittersweet Symphony, Losing It, and his Nas Retake. Here he keeps the lyrics from the original songs Back on 74 and Message in a Bottle and reworks and combines the melodies then adds in his own rap break. So the rap break is the only lyrically original part here. One of my absolute favorites isn't is in the same structure of a retake but is actually a combination of several different songs. The Fred Again mash up takes several different songs from Fred Again who is an edm producer/artist and combines them. It really displays Rens ability to rework the style and composition of songs while showing off his skills both vocally and instrumental with his guitar playing.
If you're up for it, I'd suggest reacting next to the original Back on 74 by Jungle for two reasons. First, it's a really fun piece, also produced in one shot like most of Ren's work. Second, the original is so different stylistically that you'll really get a feel for his capabilities, given where he starts and the end result.
I love how Ren often takes the higher notes when he's singing with women. He has commented that his voice and Sting's have very similar registers, which makes Police/Sting music fun for him to sing.
Not quite. It refers to Jungle music genre from back in the day. Those of us who were into it raving were called the "Junglist massive". Ren flips that to "Massive like Jungle"
The part of his ‘naughty bars’ rap where he says ‘Nas shout out with an awkward pause’.. bc not too long after this, he released his ‘Nod to Nas’ rap song, which you might enjoy at some point too. This retake was done in 10 days.. right after Ren finished Money Game 3 (you’ll recognize his outfit when you do that reaction)!! Thank-you - great reaction!
Agreed. Preferably the live busking performance titled "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop." A great day of music by the Big Push. "War Pigs" is awesome too.
That outfit of Ren's is from Money Game 3. Ren silk n honey. Thank you! Going request Fred Again Mashup. 5 Fred Again songs built into one. FRED AGAIN is an edm artst the is a favorite of Ren.
I have no doubt that everything I would say has already been said but , yes, Ren is a very generous artist and human being. He often uses the phrase “ A Rising Tide Lifts All Ships” as his “ mission statement “ , for lack of a better term- which is especially great because it’s a phrase that was originally coined to describe trickle down economics and Ren has literally turned it around and uses it as a way to lift others up through his own successes ; iow, using the success of his work to elevate the work of others. ❤
I love this one, it was a bit of fun from him (they made it in 10 days from arrangement to filming the video, he put a bts on Patreon). Scarlett Fae has her own music and poetry on here. She's incredible too. (They all are!)
"A pot full of soul with an undertone of silky smooth and a soupcon of oooohhhhh..." indeed. Your word choice suits your name, and is a very good match with Ren reactions.
Back on 74 is by a band called Jungle, it's worth checking out the original. The Rap is pure Ren Message in a bottle is The Police. The Big Push do a great version of Alien in New York.
You are absolutely right, sir, that middle singer is hypnotizing. There is simply something about her. :o) (And REN is again utterly stellar.) Thank you! 💙
You can always expect the unexpected from ren, even from covers of other songs he puts his own little ren spice on it and makes it even more fabulous 😊 (he even does acoustic live covers of a few of his own rap songs which are insanely cool) 😁💜 sting and the police are definitely big influences on ren, among many others that youll be able to point out when you hear it 😊
Great reaction. and I agree, the middle singer , Scarlett Fae, is stunning, effortless, elegant and very talented. She just draws you in doesn’t she 🥰 New sub 🙌🏼🤩😊
That Ren bump gonna run you up past 10k bro so no worries there! I swear dude has at least 100 different singing voices, rap flows, and styles. Enjoy the rabbit hole!
Multitalented and full of surprises, eh? 😅 The rabbit hole is deep and wide 😂 This was another brilliant ReNtake. Just Ren doing Ren things. Crazy runs and harmonies, filthy bars to remind us that he is also still a cheeky boi, and that voice that’s perfect for Sting/The Police songs. Ren has music in his soul and pours so much soul into everything he does. We’re just lucky to witness it 🐰🕳️
❤ your reactions to this. Surprised me when you pointed out the part where 1 gal was holding the tune and the other 2 were weaving in and out of it. Only reactor to. Watch that. Btw your SCULPTURE is Amazeballs. It's incredible. For a first time at that! Great great. I'm a gal from ND and I have always been mesmerized by the middle gal singer also she does have a very beautiful calm unique presence.
Thanks for the compliment on the sculpture. I am obviously not the only one to have noticed the middle singer. Lots of comments have mentioned that as well that she stood out to them.
He does switch from lead to backup vocals pretty obviously, just after you mentioned he might. Glad you noticed, I like that he does that, too! Did you know Ren was in a band called The Big Push? They are amazing! All the members are incredibly talented, & together just so much fun!
Her eyes seem to have their own smiles that shine even in a room full of stunning beauty. I jokingly wonder how Ren found them: "Ad - Wanted: Angelic voices and goddess-level beauty. :)" Thanks again for the delightful reaction. The editor's notes are clever and add a conversational touch that is much appreciated. Seeing your joy in detailing the skill and art, I’m confident you’ll have a blast exploring his oeuvre. Everything he creates is turned up to 11. Prepare to be continually impressed.
Want your mind blown? 'I shot the sherrif' the version with the red suspenders by his band the big push is a huuuge success ❤😊 oh and 'bongo bong' by them too
Loved your reaction!! Got to admit this is just beautiful happy music. Such a vibe. I love Kai on the bass. He reminds me of Barretta the old 70s tv show. Every detail in this is perfection
Great reaction, love your added text comments as well. I think you'll also enjoy his nods to Stevie Wonder in other songs. Some more upbeat songs to add to your list for whenever you get to them: "Love Music" parts 1 to 4. Not a story, don't need to be done together, more variations on a theme; it's okay to space them out a bit. LM1 was one of the earliest songs he wrote professionally, around 2010, back in the days of his college band Trick The Fox (before he got sick). LM2 was written 2015-ish, LM3 in 2020, and LM4 in 2022. Who knows if we'll see an LM5 on his upcoming album? 😂 anyway, they're fun songs that are a nice break from some of his heavier fare. Thanks for the Ren journey, enjoying the ride!
Once again- a great reaction and commentary. I like the editing commentary as well. Glad you enjoyed. I really liked how he slipped in the Message in a Bottle riff starting the 2nd time through the Back on 74 lyrics when he comes in with his chest voice. Thought it was a very clever spot to put it and combine the two songs like the backup singers did at the end to reference the 1st portion.
I have metal rods going up my spine from scoliosis correction surgery so I will ALWAYS have excellent posture. I get compliments on it and anyone who hears the compliment instinctively improves their posture. 😂
There is so very much diversity in Ren's catalog. He has just as many fun songs as he does those with powerful messages. You really need to check out, "How To Be Me," "Power," and "Hunger" to see some of his other abilities.
Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla one take video is a great one to. The ocarina line was also about the video game Zelda - The Ocarina Of Time. The Ale sculpture looks awesome now.
Crikey, posture positive reaction right here. I'm a tall chef and have spent a ridiculous percentage of my life nose down and hunched. My back was twisted in my 30's, my neck gave up in my 40's and now my lower back and hips are opting out. Chest out, shoulders back, stand up strong and confident. Best advice ever.
Yes, another great one of his. Think I will head on over to another one of his with his band The Big Push that I haven't heard in awhile (a really sweet video)---called Precious. Great reaction.
This is what he calls a "Retake". Meaning, his interptetations of another's song or songs. This is one if my favorite of that type. Although, his Fred Again Mashup is a close 2nd. He takes 5 (I think) EDM songs and does an acoustic version. Pretty incredible. I am really enjoying your format and point of view. Also, LOVE your sculpture. You have one AMAZING day. ❤🤗❤
Loving the reactions (watched all 3 back to back!). Think you might dig Ren and Chinchilla 'chalk outlines' live. Simple guitar, but what they do with the vocals and reverb is next level.
Love your perceptiveness and musicality! As a woman who was always told I carry myself well, yes...posture is key to looking confident. Also, this is one of my favorite Ren video's/songs. Shows his amazing versatilty. Love his awkward...pause too. The guy always adds his uniqueness to his art. Great harmonies on this for sure!
Fun watching you enjoy this very nice offering...so sweet. Supporting an earlier comment below...and as he often emphasizes with the "retake" titles... Ren and his collaborators consistently present fresh and unique "covers" that truly stand on their own.... tasty treats all along the path....looking forward to watching your continuing journey....
I would recommend checking out his work while with his band "The Big Push" some amazing live street performances.. I shot the sheriff/road to zion (red braces version) and warpigs from the same day (we call it Busking in the UK)
Glad to +1 on your road to 10K if you're going down the Ren rabbit hole. A very diverse discography. Love Ren when he has that islandy influence, and "Message in a Bottle" is perfect. His songs with Eden Nash are sorta in that lane, "Ocean" and "Humble" are fun listens.
This is one of my favs, but if you get toThe Big Push, Rens band, you have to see them do Englishman in New York and I shot the Sheriff i think you'll enjoy those, just make sure that Shot the Sheriff is the one where he wears red suspenders, they are both brilliant, great reaction too ❤ from the UK
Fantastic reaction! Intelligent and with a great musical ear; You don't miss details. I've seen Ren make really good electric guitar riffs. Thanks for your reaction
I really enjoy your reactions. You focus on all of the performance, the set, the sound, the backup singers, the bassist, the blending of the voices and songs, and the amazing talents!! I think you're right about the blending of his voice with their voices. He lays back to allow them to shine.
I really enjoyed the sh*t out of it too...and your reaction! Still love your sense of humor. I also like the typed comments in your reactions that pop up. The only other reactor that I've seen do that on a regular basis did it in a thought bubble but I like the way you do it better. Scarlett Fae (lady in the middle) is very feminine and has such smooth delicate moves. Both beautiful ladies with so much talent. May I suggest reacting to Ren's "ONE MILLION SUBSCRIBERS - Defining success". It will give you some more insight to what a beautiful human he is. It's only a 5 minute video. Thanks!
New to your Channel Sir, but I have to admit the format of the 'occassional comment ' with textual thoughts is SO welcomed.FANTASTIC.You have earned my subscription 💯
I think you would enjoy the busking sessions of Ren and his band, The Big Push. Although they do have original songs, when performing on the streets, they often did covers or interesting mashups of covers where one song smoothly flows into the next. I like the Wade in the Water/Nina Simone video, but their most popular is probably the i shot the sheriff/road to zion/hiphop mashup. But chose äny Big Push video, original or cover, and you'll be struck by the talent and the chemistry immediaely.
Thank you for continuing to react to my favourite artist ever love your reactions the rabbit hole is the best more Ren also Ren has many talented friends he has collab with and his band the big push are amazing ❤❤❤
Fantastic sculpture! As soon as I saw it I said to myself, "Wow, where did he buy that from?" Great job. And incredible reactions to Ren so far. I love all Ren's music, from his rap to his singing. I hope you continue deep down the rabbit hole, my friend.
If you haven't seen it already, I just posted my sculpture video with all three versions of Ale. I will be going deep down this rabbit hole and am really looking forward to what I discover there.
Really enjoying your videos covering Ren. You really do add a lot and I’ve seen many reactions to his songs. He’s a great talent and it’s great to see you enjoying it and I appreciate your expert take. You’re only just scratching the surface so far with Ren. He crosses many genres and skills. Enjoy the journey my friend. Subbed 👍
The woman you said looked “elegant” is Scarlett Fae. She also had her own solo music and the voice of an angel. Check out her one take video of “atwj”. Breathtaking
The lady in black (Scarlett Fae) is a great artist in her own right and is definitely worth checking out (e.g. ua-cam.com/video/cKb-84SeZRA/v-deo.html )
Watch the video of the band Jungle performing his at the Brit Awards. It was fantastic. This version was a Ren version, he did his own thing, shortened it for a quick retake on the original song.

Big push (his old band) would be a another great flavour of Ren. Check out his busking (street performance) videos 😊
I'm new to your channel like your calming voice 😁 I love this funky vibe Ren always seem to adjust his voice or other musical talents to make others shine and I love that about him totally selfless... He probably doesn't think us Renegades notice that but we do..the backing singers are made the stars and rightfully so.. Beautiful harmonies 😘👌 love when Ren sings he's so unique in everything he does.. 👍❤️
11:40 i was about to say something but i guess you got it. Ren went dirty^^ what impresses me the most is the mix. Postrecord stuff is done very well. And afaik it was Ren. Man, i adore this Guy
I'm not going to read all comments here to make sure I'm not repeating what others have already said, but to truly appreciate the diverse talent of Ren, I highly recommend checking out his collaborations with other artists (Chinchilla for a good start) as well as the band The Big Push he was in. Looking forward to more of your easy to listen to thorough Ren reactions.
Love your sculpture of Ale, a queen of bass ... also like your reactions very much 😊 - i'm a massve fan of the warning (pao on those hardhats), ren, big push, eden nash blah blah, glad i found you 😂
If you liked this one, check out the cover of Sting's Englishman in New York by Ren's band The BigPush.
Big time good call. Way to enter The Big Push!
Yes, fantastic one to enter TBP rabbit hole 👏👏
Yes please!
I love that one❤❤❤
War pigs or Bongo bong or actual sort by viewing figures and go deep dive Big Push

Scarlett Fae has some solo stuff on UA-cam, well worth a look.

Omg Fred Again Mashup is in my Ren top 3. It touches my soul!! Good suggestion it's way under reacted too.

I was coming here to say just that.
I love how Ren often takes the higher notes when he's singing with women.
He has commented that his voice and Sting's have very similar registers, which makes Police/Sting music fun for him to sing.
Scarlett Fae just dropped a new tune yesterday - "til the wheels". Delicious!
“Massive like Jungle” was a call out to Jungle, the British Band, who released “Back on 74” in 2023.
Not quite. It refers to Jungle music genre from back in the day. Those of us who were into it raving were called the "Junglist massive". Ren flips that to "Massive like Jungle"
Knowing Ren, it’s probably both meanings 😂🫶🏻

Great reaction. The subtitles usually can't keep up with Ren stuff and mess up pretty bad. This one is one of those. :(
Yeah, I went and looked up the real lyrics afterward.
Great reaction! Looking forward to Money Games. 😊🙏😊
The lady in black (Scarlett Fae) is a great artist in her own right and is definitely worth checking out (e.g. ua-cam.com/video/cKb-84SeZRA/v-deo.html )
Subed for much more Ren!
He already played the Message in the Bottle riff during the Back on 74 part all along unless at the chorus
They are all amazing...thanks great reaction appreciate you👍👍👍👍
He’s amazing. Absolutely amazing. Great reaction. 😉❤️
11:40 i was about to say something but i guess you got it. Ren went dirty^^
what impresses me the most is the mix. Postrecord stuff is done very well. And afaik it was Ren. Man, i adore this Guy
Happy to subscribe; I've really been enjoying your Ren reactions!

I really enjoy watching your reactions! Keep em coming!
Love your sculpture of Ale, a queen of bass ... also like your reactions very much 😊 - i'm a massve fan of the warning (pao on those hardhats), ren, big push, eden nash blah blah, glad i found you 😂
Use me - by Bill Withers. Yes, he combines the best from everybody... 😌👌🏼the harmonies in this track are otherworldly - velvet for our ears
It is worth you reacting to the original Back on 74 by Jungle. Only about a year old. Great song with great dance choreography.💕👍🦇
Wahoo! He’s back!
Great reaction video , Thanks
Speaking of Bill Withers a guy called Teddy Swims does an awesome cover of Use Me, you should check it out sometime :)
I'll check it out!
