  • A few weeks ago Connor and I took a trip to one of my favorite rivers. This video takes a look at a few of the highlights chasing rainbows with euro nymphing, sight fishing, and dry fly approaches.
You can find the videos I mentioned about leaders and fish fighting at the links below.

I really appreciate that you provide instruction or refer back to previous videos while catching some really nice fish. On a side note, but not meant as a slight, Connor has such a diabolical laugh!

Amazing stream and a great day. I think every fly fisherman has one of those spots you just cherish.

Connor's maniacal laugh - let's just say he's planning on taking over the world, or at least the fly fishing world.

How come your rivers have so many more fish than my rivers? 🤣
That said I have learned a lot from your videos. Side pressure, bring them upstream, slide into the net worked this morning on a nice rainbow. And retrieved my flies, 3 for 3, from trees! Caught a 2.5 inch fallfish too, definitely fought above his weight! 🤣 I figure if I am getting the point of noticing a take from 2.5 inch fish, maybe I'm getting somewhere!
Oh, some of your sighter wax showed up yesterday - very cool stuff! Really works.
    Thanks for all the videos.

Great video, as usual. I have two suggestions for future videos:
    1. Neon Wax. I may have suggested this previously. If so, I apologize for repeating myself. As a viewer it would be helpful if you waxed your sighter before filming. It would enhance the viewer’s ability to follow the drift.
    2. Riparian Cover. Here in the California Sierra where I live there is a lot of water with 70%-90% riparian cover. Most of your videos are made in pretty open water. Maybe you could do a video with tips for Euro Nymphing in heavy cover.
Thanks again for the great work.

      Gary,
      1. We actually applied the wax quite often throughout the day specifically to help with it showing on the camera. When you have a wax sighter on 6x or 7x, it simply doesn't show on the camera well unless you have bright sun on the sighter and the water behind being dark or in shade.
      2. We have made videos on casting under trees and getting your flies out of trees. Part of the reason we don't have a lot of riparian scenes in our videos is simply the challenges of filming around it. For stability, filming on the bank is best so that's hard to do in a setting with a riparian wall.

OK. Thanks. Guess the only answer is to CGI a really thick, bright sighter. Lol!

@@tacticalflyfisher3817 This is the model I want to buy,
Does it get good feel on small 10" fish?
I am looking for a versatile rod that gives a good feeling I mainly fish small fish but I hesitate between 10'#2 and 10'9 #3.
Can you fish big rivers with the 10'2? And 20" fish?
