Glad to have you back. I always used your videos to lab characters in tekken 7. Can you do a punishment guide on the new characters Jun and Reina - they are quite complicated.
Your guides are amazing man, let me say that first. Now, as as Drag main, this info can be used in reverse to make drags stronger. I feel obliged to do an anti- anti punish guide lol, because there's still a couple of your punishes that can get a little exploited imo... Our weaknesses are pretty well known already, but some stuff here that can still wreck this guide (but the main one being don't get predictable). 121 is indeed -14... Unless we use it as a final into heat dash, then we're plus frames and can probably wreck a few veterans by surprise here. A lot of Drags really only use this move on twitch confirm, so they've made a mistake otherwise if you're presented with a punish opportunity. 1,3 string we have our cancel mixes into block or another move - 1,3 21+2 (cancel) qcb2 is probably going to tornado your punish. If a Dragunov is good and mixes his options, I wouldn't press here. 2,1 3 or 4 extension enders, timing can be mixed (we can delay frames quite a bit here to screw up these proposed punishes), again, if a Dragunov is mixing his timing/ not finishing the string / doing 2,1 sneak 3+4 instead, your punish is getting stuffed. 312 ender, reminder we can heavily delay last hit to mess up these punishes again. Dragunov can also mix with 31 into sneak. I'll skip the strings part, most Drags shouldn't be throwing those out, unless you stop the string short on most to just two hits. If a Drag is using too many strings, he's playing the character wrrong. Many are living off df1 and 1 jab mainly and our pressure moves on block to force mistakes, plus movement and whiff punish. Special mention for the db2,1,2 string. It's heavily delayable on all sections, and yeah, the db2,1 is punishable in theory at -10. Unless they complete the full string, I wouldn't press into this though unless you want to risk being ch launched. B42 into sneak block 'may' be a nice way of provoking people into pressing something highly punishable if they think it's the start of tackle animation, so again, if you're choosing to try to launch me thinking I'm doing tackle, you better be damn sure it's not sneak block I'm trying, as you're just gifting me a free punish. Qcf4 has more tracking than I gave it credit for, sidewalk on reaction is difficult... If I'm mixing my options, this is difficult in a real match, but hey, it's just one of our best new moves. You're on point with a lot of stuff, especially the hopkick on the unbreakable tackles, and it's a great guide, not too many holes I could find with it. I'm not sure how practical your ten frame interrupts are in a match outside of feng players who twitch that b1 stuff daily, but it's good to know. Great job, a happy new subscriber here.
Hey, I really appreciate the write-up. Thanks for pointing out alot of this stuff and creating a discussion about Dragunov. On the 121, the punish won't come out if they heat dash cancel thankfully, and all heat dashes are universally +5. I showed the SNK cancels on 3,1. 2,1 etc. You are absolutely right that Dragunovs can and will mix that up. QCF4 is nuts yeah, I don't step that on reaction at all, it's more of if you get the timing tempo of your opponent. it's very difficult to deal with. I show alot of options to show people what is possible, but often it's difficult in real matches to perfectly intercept an opponent's offense. Especially if they are cycling their options like you mentioned. Thank you again for your support and comment. I appreciated reading your insights.
I will definitely get around to it! These take quite a while to get the footage for and edit and time is sometimes hard to come by due to life stuff, so it'll be a bit. Thank you for your patience.

So his launch sweep that he can cancel into a grab. What are you supposed to do if your character doesn't have a hop kick? I try to up forward with Azucena but he still clips my legs if I don't do the attack as soon as he starts his sweep. Also, you hop kicked that grab but you didn't hop kick the low.+ Edit: Never mind. Figured out a counter play.
I played him a bit in 7, he's definitely eating good in this game. I might be a weirdo but I actually like fighting Dragunov. Much less annoying than Kunimitsu or Zafina were in 7 imho
Really nice video! Very much needed both because people fall for the dumbest of Drag pressure and because we Drag mains need to evolve and we can only do that if our opponents force us to think outside the box. Do you think Drag is a gimmicky character that will be "weak" if countered correctly/consistently? I am of the mind that he's a heavy mental stack character that can break more or less anyone unless you stay on offense vs him
I don't think Dragunov is very gimmicky or becomes weak if opponents know how to fight him. His strength isn't derived much from his strings. Alot of what makes Dragunov oppressive is single hitting moves that are + on block or enable him to dictate the pace of the match. His damage and wall carry are also quite high. I think he's an excellent character and great fundamentals will only push him further. I appreciate your support and the wonderful point of saying that Drag players will only get stronger and evolve the better their opposition becomes.
yes u4 will beat both the low and the throw. However, since u4 is 20f, you'll have to recognize the move quickly, It may not be as possible on reaction as a traditional 15f hopkick as you have 5 less frames to work with.
Thanks for this, Drag is a menace in Tekken 8 and Feng is my main. Perfect!
Bro my buddy mains feng and I main Drag and it’s a battle!
Glad you're back! Your videos were super helpful when I first started T7

Used to main drag back in 7. T8 drag is terrorising everyone.

@@PencilTekken hmmm. But why did they give him qcf4 tho. Why is it +OB crouch jailing, and a heat engager
Really nice video!

Can I do devil Jin’s u4 to beat this @3:49 ?
