Turbo M42 BMW E21 320i on the Dyno! | E85 Turbo BMW Dyno Tuning

Prior to track day for my E21 track rat I needed to refine the tune on the E85 powered M42 (1983 BMW 320i). Ran 14lbs of boost on Octane 93 first few runs then switched over to e85. Check out the results and some on track action at the end!
More specs on the drivetrain:
- Stock E30 M42
- 0.60a/r turbine & 0.48a/r compressor ceramic ball bearing turbo
- MS2 Extra
- Deatschwerks high flow e85 pump
- Racehead lightweight flywheel (M42/M20 hybrid)
- SPEC stage 2 M20 clutch

Is it obd 1, if so what do you use to tune and if not where can I get a new ECU for the in 42

Hey man - it is running MS2extra megasquirt on in a "KDFi" package that's designed to mount up to the original E30 Motronic harness. I added a MAP/Flex Fuel/Wideband input to do what I wanted with my setup...next step eventually is to add launch control :)

What's the trim on the turbo??

0.60 turbine with a 0.50 a/r compressor. Had a 0.48 on there when I first did turboed in 2012 (before E85) but seemed choked off at high RPM.

What made you choose the M42 for a power plant?

They were available for very cheap back in 2008 when I did the swap and ANYTHING is an upgrade over the M10 CIS system. Since then the E30's and M42's have gone up in price. Good powerplant to start with though and forged internals. Has been VERY strong even at over 130k miles. If you can find one for cheap, do it!
