I loved that antique store, saw so many good things!
I saw so many things I'd love to have in your shopping areas! I just LOVE shopping for antiques!!❤ I always keep an eye out for skeleton keys, so neat. One of my favorite things to collect is really old art and ornate frames.. portraits are one that i love most! Victorian women were gorgeous, the men were handsome and the babies so beautiful! So I love the piece you bought, and an awesome price!! Old lamps..i hoard them😄 Montgomery Ward opened in late 1800's and closed in early 2000's. They were popular in my childhood years! Books are great to collect, great styling pieces. I collect old bibles, hymnals and music books too. I also use pictures from books, and hymnals too, to frame and decorate with. I use one of my open shelves in the kitchen to keep old oil and vinegar bottles, the pretty ones😊 and a mirrored tray on the dresser for vintage perfume bottles. Lol I just love to collect all the old goodness😄 My Husband & I own a thrift store, we gets tons of donations from estate sales.. so i love all the above😊 as do most of us that collect i think. I do 'try' to budget each time i go.🫣 Thanks for sharing, love all your finds😊

I have the best luck at thrift stores and yard sales. The prices are great, too. I absolutely love your new dress, and it looks so cute on you. I think the wine decanter, lampshade, and kitchen towels are my next favorites. Thank you so much for sharing.

That wrapping paper, both newsprint and fish is cool. It took me back to my childhood.. my mom had a newsprint wall paper in one of our bathrooms.. funny.. i used to just stare and read the ads.. 😊.., Walmart is totally upping their clothing game!! Cute 👗 dress!! I think i prefer thrift stores the most.. i remember being dragged around for hours w my grandma to estate sales, huge community sales.. it was overwhelming, not a positive experience, plus i dk but to me personally.. i always think of a vulture at an estate sale .. it feels invasive to me.. but I know good things can be found.. i do appreciate a good antique mall but i can never afford anything although they always curate everything so beautifully.. I really enjoy the visual merchandising and the smell of old books, and ink and dust... I know .. weird!! I have to be in the mood because i can get lost for hours and w a thrift store i can move in and out fairly quickly.
I agree... with the Antique/Estate Sales, there is so much history, and memories, and personal vibe...where a Thrift Store is just more Grab and Go! for me anyways!
Yes, they are each so different. I do know that families that are trying to clean up their deceased family member's estate are happy to see things going to good homes.

I prefer shopping in antique stores. It’s very relaxing for me even if I do not purchase anything. If I am dropping off clothes, I will check the thrift store but that is usually a waste of my time and often frustrating. I have only been to a few estate sales but those were fabulous! I should try to locate more estate sales. Thank you for highlighting and comparing these 3 types of shopping opportunities.

I felt weirdly excited that I think I've been to all these places perhaps? Sumner for the antiquing (the first place you went to is my favorite!), South hill goodwill, and the estate sale down the street from the Goodwill?
All three are my favorites! Half the fun is looking I think. I especially like to explore antique stores but I'm a little taken aback when I see things I grew up with, that my mom used. Does that make me an antique also? It's so fun to spot these treasures that bring back memories!

Merino brand used to be at Target. Those frames look just like some I have. I took put a set of cross-stitch I did in them. I like to go to all thrifty, antique, estate sales. I have found lately that garage sales are just not selling much I am interested in, probably due to Craiglist, OfferUp and Facebook marketplace. This was fun, thanks for taking us along with you!

Yes, it is interesting, isn't it!
Merino was the Target brand - maybe they sold that division to Walmart. They're all so incestous. I think the Christmas balls and basket were a steal! You can never have enough of those or the picture frames. Also, one time I hit the jackpot at an estate sale. They were selling this 12 foot long sofa upholstered in white damask and a trestle table with 2 leaves and corresponding pads that will sit 12 both for $200 each. Most of the time when I go thrifting, I fall in love with stuff, buy it because it's sooo inexpensive even though I have no use for it and then donate it back to a thrift store the following year because it's taking up space. It's a good racket those thrift stores have got going on. It's not like you buy it - it's more like renting.
Oh gosh, sometimes I give things right back to the thrift stores, too.
Your estate sale finds were great…especially free items. I like to use pretty paper for drawer liners as well. 😊

I live in a community near a military base. Most of the estate sales are for retired military. Their homes may be modest but there can be treasures from around the world!

Wow, you got some great deals! I was especially impressed with the thrift store, it was very upscale compared to the ones near me. And the other things you got at the estate sale were wonderful. I don’t think anything is ever free at estate sales around here. Great shopping! I like all three avenues to acquire treasures.

Walmart has had some good clothing lines for well over a decade. Everyone has the assumption that Target has better quality items, but I have a very nice maxi dress I bought at Walmart ten years ago. I can’t say the same for any clothing item I have from target.
I am finding that Ross Dress for Less (States) has a lot for me lately, and the prices are super decent!

I think you’re right about the dress being from Target. I have the same dress (or one that’s almost identical), and it’s the (I believe) discontinued brand Merona. I bought it in 2012.

The best part of estate sales is the picking…and showing up last day and expecting to find anything good is silly.
Sometimes you can still find things, but I prefer day one of a sale, for sure.
the Holiday Time Ornaments are not actually vintage as they ...are a Walmart brand... although they are not Vintage...they do have that old world charm and feel... very pretty!

There are many different kinds of sales and I did not show the full sale, so you will have to trust me on this one.;)
