Been about 10 years for me too. This is the only sports game I've played that I spend more time practicing than playing. Hitting a MLB baseball is definitely the hardest thing in sports.
This is the first sports game I've played since 1998, and I'm really having fun. I'm not even a baseball fan, per se. However, here is another tidbit for noobs like myself: I was having a really hard time at the plate. I got tired of striking out and hitting the ball 200 feet. So I said screw it and changed the sliders to hit farther, harder, and more easily. I started crushing the ball. However, I saw where it doesn't give experience unless it's at 50%/default. So I changed it back. I was hitting waaaaaay better than before I started tinkering with the sliders. I don't know it it just allowed me to dial in or what, but I had the sliders moved for like 40 min then switched back and am now 200% better at the plate.
The tip about tapping contact / power swing button to time pitches was life changing! Since incorporating that, my hitters feedback has either been good or perfect 7/10 at bats. Thanks so much !
Has anyone noticed that the contact of the bat hitting the ball sounds way crappier this year ? Like every hit sounds the same, even the perfect contact hits don't really sound too much different. Compared to last year when there was a solid "crack" of the bat. I'm playing on the PS4 so maybe its different on the PS5 ? What are your guys thoughts, anyone else have this issue ?
If you're on xbox, get an adapter so that you can use a PS controller, cuz the left stick position on an Xbox controller is absolutely terrible for this game. It puts my thumb at an odd natural angle and I have a tough time covering the entire zone, as my thumb is almost fully extended while just touching the stick. It works well for shooters, but not this game
Man I swear I almost deleted the game. Dead serious. I just couldn’t handle the cpu throwing no hitters on me. But instead I spent hours in practice mode just batting, nothing else. Finally getting better at batting. At least I’m not giving up no hitters anymore 😂
I been playing for years been top 50 a couple times used to be able to make WS pretty easy but these last 2 years have been killing me I used to be so good at getting guys on putting balls in the gap taking pitches the other way and that now it's pretty much hr or nothing I can make good contact the whole game and hit it right too fielders I got a saying "don't even move bro I got you" I been feeling like Benny trying to give smalls some confidence hitting right into his glove. Lol 19 made the most sense and was the most consistent. Also what they've done to throw canceling is unforgivable baserunning cheese needed to stay in the past!!!
It’s impossible to look at your PCI and the ball at the same time because humans don’t have eyes like amphibians or reptiles that can focus on two things at once I use zone hitting. But turn my PCI to 20 percent so I can’t even see it. Barely. So 95 percent of my focus is on the ball Works for me
I have 99 Chipper, David Justice, Trout, etc. etc...and still hit under .235 in PvP! Did not know you could custom the practice pitches. Will give it a shot. Great video, maybe I can raise my b avg. .20 or more
When you’re using zone left stick and analog right stick is there a way to go contact swing and power or it really just depends on when and where you swing? My batting stance is on stride. PLZ HELP

Actually, after someone hits a HR, there is exactly 100% chance that the next batter doesn't hit into a double play. I know I'm being particular but yeah. Lol

I’m not sure if it’s a bug or what but sometimes my fielder dives/jumps on his on as a move the left analog stick to track down/ run towards the ball which then leads to the sure hit becoming a hit and extra bases. Super annoying! Any help would be much appreciated.

Sinker throw is broken in analog stick pitching mode - blue registration cog at top freezes when you pass it on move to the right instead of move back to the top and penalize you as for "too fast" movement - this bug occures alomost every time but some times you can accidentaly go trough this cog and return to it normaly.
What type of swings should I use in what spots like with every power hitter should I be using power swings and batters 7-9 contact swings normal swings ?
The lack of decent tutorials within the game itself is a legit problem considering this just came out for a console with a userbase that has hardly ever played these games... Been at this for hours and I'm really glad I picked this up on Game Pass over dropping $79.99 CAD on it. Doubt I'm ever touching this series again after seeing how insanely difficult/simulation-focused it is.

I was wondering about the guess pitch function. itches below the zone are hard for me to pick up so I started using the Guess Pitch R2 function and guessing down everytime and then it alerts me if the pitch indeed will be down. Then I also know to place my PCI not down. Is this a bad strategy? I've only just played my buddy online for 10 games or so so not sure if this works online as I would have thought I would see it mentioned. Thanks!
In mlb the show 16 my rtts is the best. I always get hits when I'm up to bat. I got this game for my Xbox. I made the same player like from scratch and he is struggling. Well I am. I hope I can get him to be amazing from mlb the show 16.

I was doing just fine till I made the big club. Then motherf they'd throw 3 straight offspeed or breaking pitches in a row. Who guess that? Everything well hit right at someone. Literally became a mental game from a video game. Sent back to AAA now. I'm Crash Davis at the moment.

Yeah, pitching is easy as hell . I use analog, cuz I don't wanna bother with pinpoint. There's some really weird motions you guys do for some pitches

i can hit fine just every time i do it’s a pop fly or right in the infield and i get out 9 times out of 10
I seriously don’t think I have laid off of one slider yet...I’m in triple a...
the ai throws the slider inside like 80% of the time in my experience

Switched from strike zone to 15 easier for me to read pitches. I was swinging to early in SZ
I find strikezone 2 is a perfect medium between the two. I've never hit so many perfect swings

You gotta hit the corresponding buttons before the pitch. If you want power hit square/X contact circle/B

Change your settings. Go to settings batting and then batting type to zone.

My hitting setting is on full stride analog with no PCI. I just could not figure out how to hit with the PCI on and full stride.
