***** “America, at its best, is a problem-solving nation. And our continued commitment to renovating and defending the GLOBAL ORDER will determine whether we build a future of peace, progress and prosperity in which people everywhere have the opportunity to live up to their God-given potential,” Hillary Clinton
It came from her mouth. Not from someone else misquoting her. She said that she "takes umbrage at anyone" that would want to change the definition of marriage. Umbrage defined: offense or annoyance. She was "offended and annoyed" at anyone fighting for marriage equality and gay rights. SHE said it. No one misquoted her.
This bugs me to no end. Yes, you're allowed to "evolve" on issues, as Obama put it. But when you're in your 40's or your 50's, you SHOULD have your basic ground values concerning human rights established. Especially if these policy issues are part of your job as a politician. You're not some 19-year-old kid who has just been introduced to independent thought. You're an adult, and has been one for decades. You should be clear with which ideals make up your fundamental morality, and then you can re-shape and evolve on the details. But I can't respect someone in their 40's or 50's whose fundamental values are still finicky. But of course her words are just a reflection of public opinion, and that's also impossible to respect.
bleunt how old was sheikh hussein when he said he was against gay marriage (3 years ago, to get elected)? Yet you voted for him, and you will vote for Killary.
PillCosby I did not vote for Obama, nor will I vote for Hillary. And even if I did, you can't expect that the person you vote for is 100% in sync with your own values. That's an extremely childish notion to have.
bleunt Yeah your last sentence is the truth. Politicians are mostly just reflections of public opinion. Even the best of them try to sway social movements to give them their vote by echoing their ideals back at them.
When presented with a choice between someone who consistantly has done what is right and someone who consistantly changes her view in favor of the popular opinion I believe the choice is quite clear. Bernie Sanders for President!
ck9292 Could it be that she changed her opinion on this issue because of new information, or interacting with better arguments, or just reconsidering her position? There was a similar flip flop with abortion in the 1980s to the 1990s. Sometimes it is the winds of popular opinion, but sometimes people change their views on things because of increasing their understanding of that issue.
nextabe New information??? WTF does that mean? That's bullshit on the issue of gay marriage and you know it. Stop trying to make excuses for Hillary. She was wrong on this. Period. Why vote for her when someone like Bernie Sanders had so many "unpopular" positions back then that are now mainstream? Vote for the consistantly moral one not the one that flips on issues to win. She is calculating and fake.
nextabe Sure, it's possible she changed her mind, it does happen. BUT show me a transcript or video of her actively retracting her anti-gay marriage statements and then I'll believe it. I'd love to see her say (prior to her current presidential run) that she was actually wrong and admit her mistake and then move forward with the fight for equality. But until that happens I'm gonna take it she was just another typical politician swaying whichever way is going to get her votes.
Terence Weldon The thing is it's not just gay marriage. Look at her Iraq war vote. The way she treats wallstreet and the banks makes her a corportist. I want someone to explain to me how she is anything more than a Republican in Democrats clothing.
What about Huma? At one time she and Hillary were so tight that the only way Bill Clinton could see or speak to Hillary was through Huma. I guess all of that changed after all of those emails were discovered on Weiner's computer filed under "Insurance."

Why does the clip cut off? To hide she is fighting the anti-gay Federal Marriage Amendment! She goes on to state they should have banned divorce if they were serious about protecting marriage.
Oh dear, Killery. I hate it when people drag out that nasty ole evidence of what a flip-flopper you are, don't you? I mean, can't this stuff just be obliterated like your emails were so everybody can forget it ever happened? The low-information voters would never be the wiser because they don't pay attention to anything that doesn't have check attached to it - and they really don't give a flying flip anyway.
Thing with Trump is, 1.) He doesn't talk about it enough for libs (24/7 seems to be a requirement). 2.) hes a republican and to them its "Internment camps for gayss omg!"
A random clip out of context. 1. This was the speech that she gave in the Senate before voting AGAINST the federal marriage amendment. Her vote among votes of others ensured that there wouldn't be a constitutional ban on gay marriage on a federal level, which if if had happened wouldn't have let the progress that was made via obergerfall v Hodges or US V Windsor be possible. 2.Bill Clinton in 1992 campaigned for gay soldiers in the military and the DADT was a compromise between the military which at the time opposed gay people in military and the Clinton administration. 3. Hillary supported civil unions when she ran for the Senate in 2000. The same year Vermont became the first state to allow it (civil unions). Everyone from the governor to the new mayor in Burlington supported it and were vocal about it, with the exception of then congressman Sanders. 4. Senator Sanders refused to support marriage equality in 2006 when he campaigned for the Senate seat from Vermont. He did so for the first time in 2009 - incidentally the same year as Bill Clinton. 5. Secy Clinton in the state dept changed the way the state dept viewed domestic partners and treated them as spouse equivalents. while in the state dept, she didn't engage in any domestic issues - incl. marriage equality which she then addressed the year she was out of the state dept. 6. she was the first sitting first lady of the united States to march in a pride parade and she asked for the repeal of DADT the first time she ran for office - an issue that senator Sanders has been consistent on as well. 7. As Secy of state she fine tuned the PEPFAR and in capacity of one of the board members of CHAI, she made an enormous contribution to the combat HIV and AIDS impacting many many millions. So yes, if you want to paint her a demon, you're welcome to. Just employ facts in the future.
+Chandrasekar Athreya THANK YOU!! The fact she USED her traditional marriage value to argue in a way that went AGAINST it is so much more admirable than if she simply went against popular opinion at the time and said no this isn't right.

Enjoy sheeping it out with the US of A😇
Hillary like many politicians changes her views based purely upon who she speaking to at the time. In San Fran only minimal days later, you can bet she said something entirely different.
Because Hillary Clinton is such a GREAT spokesperson for marriage. "I believe marriage is a union between a man and a woman and a woman and a woman and a woman and a..."
ductwork z Yes, because of course the person who IS a criminal, which is confirmed by WikiLeaks and Veritas should be in the office, while the person who often speaks politically incorrect things and and sometimes talks dirty but on the other hand has some stone position and doesn't want wars and there hasn't been any proof of his guiltiness should not be in the office. I have told this many times: set your priorities right.
Look I'm not denying that HIllary Clinton has done some sketchy things in her past, and if it was almost any other person I probably wouldn't vote for clinton. But Trump has proven himself to be too much of a wild card, too unreliable and I just do not trust him in charge of the most powerful country. There is also the fact this election also basically decides the supreme court pick, and I think Hillary would pick a more liberal and acceptable judge. And that decision is arguable the most important of this election cause it affects more than just the next 8 years
While Bernie has my vote, I would like to say this was over 10 years. My view on gay marriage was against it when I first heard about. Once I understood the issue better, I still feel uncomfortable about it but realize that it is a form of one's freedom of expression.
BRBallin1 Their gayness leaves the bedroom all the time, just look around you. You hear about this shit all the time. Gay pride, never fucking ends with these people. It goes far beyond their sick gay sex dungeons.
Canada. Your knowledge about the world seems limited. Last time I checked it was Legal in USA too thanks to your black president. Hope you like the democratic SOCIALIST that will hopefully get in! ahhaa shit like this used to happen to republicans and hillbillies in their dreams
Ugh k this really NAGL obviously, but the context is important: she's fighting against a constitutional amendment from the GOP that would have enshrined marriage between a man and a woman in the constitution, and made it much harder to bring along the eventual marriage equality in individual states. SO in the context of the debate and the time, she was on the pro-LGBT side.
"So I take umbrage at anyone who might suggest that those of us who worry about amending the Constitution are less committed to the sanctity of marriage." For anyone who appreciates context, this is the most important part of her speech and it's a crime that this can't be stressed ENOUGH.
She supported leaving the issue of same-sex marriage to the states in her 2008 campaign and supported civil unions. She announced her support for same-sex marriage in 2013.
The part that was CUT OFF, btw.....“Marriage has got historic, religious and moral content that goes back to the beginning of time, and I think a marriage is as a marriage has always been, between a man and a woman,” the First Lady said in White Plains. “But I also believe that people in committed gay marriages, as they believe them to be, should be given rights under the law that recognize and respect their relationship.”
Bernie Sanders said he thought marriage rights were a states rights issue at a time when almost no states allowed any legal protections for gay relationships. Hillary Clinton supported civil unions and domestic partnerships just not calling it "marriage". Almost 70% of Americans thought the same thing back then. A majority were strongly against same sex marriage in 2004 and that number was rising not falling. The culture started changing attitudes towards it just after that era and the number of Americans opposed to same-sex marriage started coming down. Trying to claim Hillary Clinton was a bigot is not fair at all though. No federal agency did more for LGBT rights than the State Department under Hillary Clinton.
She's the same as Obama: Didn't support gay marriage per se but supported full equality under the law. It's a matter of terminology and politics. I don't believe she is against LGBT people at all and if you research what she has said through the years, she has always been on the side of LGBT people. Don't let quotes taken out of context let you believe otherwise.
she didn't say that she banned same sex marriage! i'm gay and i believe in marriage between man and woman too and so does marriage between man and man or woman and woman.
Remember: She didn't "flip-flop". She "evolved". A TRUE leader would say "Although I believe [insert opinion], I am a servant of the people... and the people have spoken." THAT'S how you tell a true leader versus someone who just PRETENDS your beliefs matter - just to get your vote. And that's pretty insulting.
+Karmic Resonance Bernie Sanders was always supportive for gay marriage rights since the early 1970s whereas Hillary Clinton Goldman Sachs became supportive for gay marriage rights since about three years ago.
Why isn't Bernie running an ad with this?? It's not negative to show clips of people's quotes. Obviously people evolve but for her to say the "fundamental bedrock of [marraige] is that it is between a man and a woman" should disqualify her from the democratic nomination in 2016
It was 2004. Very few politicians publicly supported same-sex marriage. Furthermore, consider the context of this speech: Republicans were proposing a constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage. Putting the ban in the constitution would make it more or less impossible for LGBT couples to ever marry. She was arguing against the constitutional amendment, and perhaps this speech was an effort to sway opinions of other senators to do the same. She had our backs. Times can be blinding, but this was the right thing to do at the time.
no a REAL supporter like bernie snaders would have fought for gays and marriage like he has done for so long ..doesnt matter what year it is...he was active during the 60s against the segregation. thats a real leader..shillarys just a flip flop fake and does /says anything to get votes
***** Because he hasn't resiled from it, and his boasting about sexually assaulting a woman isn't the first time by a mile, and it's hardly in the same category as Clinton wanting all Americans to have equal rights to marry. Moreover Trump lied when he said he hadn't apologised to his wife fpr the "pussy grabbing" braggadocio, when there is video of her saying "Donald apologised to me". Either the man is a wanton liar, or he has such an atrocious memory he can't remember from day to day what he said the day, the week or the month before. It is important when the current version is opposite to the older version. There are roughly 500 documented lies told by Trump on public record, which an easy Google will quickly yield should you wish to go looking.
***** Please cite the date and time that Barack Obama gave millions of American dollars to terrorists. The amount, and when Congress approved it please. Please bear in mind that the Congress was Republican throughout the second Obama presidential term and that blocked everything he presented to them to the point of shutting down the government over healthcare.
***** Please research your facts before posting. The REPUBLICAN Congress approved the Palestinian funding in budget years 2015 and 2016. The funding is to be used for humanitarian aid in the West Bank and Gaza, to support political and security reforms as well as help prepare for good governance and the rule of law in a future Palestinian state.
Here she is, in her truest form. I can't say that I'm glad Trump is our president. However, I am gleeful that this phony, fair-weather friend was denied her dream.
Ironic, considering that she claims Trump hates them... And that Trump gets in trouble for a joke from 2005, while nobody mentions what she said one year earlier.
Yes, that's right. Not only has Bernie supported gay rights since the beginning of his career, he has continuously supported positions to better the majority of U.S. citizens with out flip flops or scandals.
Not only this... but her husband signed the DOMA (Destruction of Marriage Act) that kept loving couples apart for YEARS... Some of these couples, many tens of thousands of them, lived in different countries, and were separated because of this.
This thinly veiled Republican has never had a single principle or conviction that she wasn't willing to betray in her pursuit of power. How she could give this impassioned rebuke of gay rights as a defense of the "bedrock" of civilization and then later to claim that her view had "evolved" is beyond my comprehension. Prejudice and hate like that doesn't change. It's in a person's core.
Hey its cool guys now that she could not stop gay marriage, she is all for it. Its ok if you try to do something do not succeed you can always jump on the winning side and say yeah I am with you.

And that decision is arguable the most important of this election cause it affects more than just the next 8 years
ductwork z So your decision is electing a criminal after all, ok.

Hillary Clinton for Republican presidential nominee 2016!
Did the fundamental bedrock of civilization change between 2004 and 2012?
A the DemTownHall Hillary says she was on the "forefront of homophobic inequality" ?????? Plzzzzz
back when Hillary clinton at least pretended to be based
Nah. Nothing "based" about discrimination.
And THAT'S why you vote for Bernie.
#feelthebern
#notforhillary
I agree with Hillary when she says this. So why did gays still support her in 2016? This is her real belief on gays.
While Bernie has my vote, I would like to say this was over 10 years. My view on gay marriage was against it when I first heard about. Once I understood the issue better, I still feel uncomfortable about it but realize that it is a form of one's freedom of expression.
+BRBallin1 Its expressionism for two men to get their dicks covered in fecal matter? how much more did you need to understand? Hillary 2004!
Obviously that aspect is repulsive to us, but what people do in their beds are none of our concern.
BRBallin1 Their gayness leaves the bedroom all the time, just look around you. You hear about this shit all the time. Gay pride, never fucking ends with these people. It goes far beyond their sick gay sex dungeons.
+1994CPK funny how colours make you so scared...
Canada. Your knowledge about the world seems limited.
Last time I checked it was Legal in USA too thanks to your black president.
Hope you like the democratic SOCIALIST that will hopefully get in!
ahhaa shit like this used to happen to republicans and hillbillies in their dreams
This video needs to be mirrored, it wouldn't surprise me if *they* somehow got this video removed from YT soon.
0:50 she looks like she is listening to an earpiece lol. Ah, good ol Shilary.
I wonder how long it'll take for this video to be censored and removed from everywhere...
***** Never
Ugh k this really NAGL obviously, but the context is important: she's fighting against a constitutional amendment from the GOP that would have enshrined marriage between a man and a woman in the constitution, and made it much harder to bring along the eventual marriage equality in individual states.
SO in the context of the debate and the time, she was on the pro-LGBT side.
"So I take umbrage at anyone who might suggest that those of us who worry about amending the Constitution are less committed to the sanctity of marriage."
For anyone who appreciates context, this is the most important part of her speech and it's a crime that this can't be stressed ENOUGH.
1,007 people disliked this? Is this all Correct The Record can afford?
I think people are disliking because they don't agree with her.
no they disliked because of lying crooked hillary
Uncanny! She uttered the exact same CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN talking points we heard last year. Almost word for word.
the human rights campaign is one of the biggest jokes on earth.
She supported leaving the issue of same-sex marriage to the states in her 2008 campaign and supported civil unions. She announced her support for same-sex marriage in 2013.
Low energy! She seemed tired already back in 2004!!! She's fucking exhausted now!
Its between a man and a woman . I can agree .
And Human Rights Campaign just endorsed her. #BreakEmUp #FeeltheBern #SandersWarren20q6
"I believe... whatever I have to say I believe in order to be president..."
I only upvoted in hopes that this video will be seen by more Hillary drones.
Listening to her trying to emphasize her "belief," even she doesn't believe it.
And to think the Human Rights Campaign just endorsed her for fucking president. The fuck is this world coming too?
She's the same as Obama: Didn't support gay marriage per se but supported full equality under the law. It's a matter of terminology and politics. I don't believe she is against LGBT people at all and if you research what she has said through the years, she has always been on the side of LGBT people. Don't let quotes taken out of context let you believe otherwise.
Flippity flop...like a fish out of water.
she didn't say that she banned same sex marriage! i'm gay and i believe in marriage between man and woman too and so does marriage between man and man or woman and woman.
BERNIE SANDERS IS NUMBER ONE!
Marriage should be between men and women. The others just go be with whoever you want to. It doesn’t have to be discussed.
vote BERNIE SANDERS!!! #FeelTheBern
This video is being blocked on Facebook. Please feel free to share it!
Flip flop
she didn't really say anything about gay marriage, she just said she believes that we should defend marriage between a man and a woman.
potato potato
Remember: She didn't "flip-flop". She "evolved". A TRUE leader would say "Although I believe [insert opinion], I am a servant of the people... and the people have spoken." THAT'S how you tell a true leader versus someone who just PRETENDS your beliefs matter - just to get your vote. And that's pretty insulting.
+Karmic Resonance Bernie Sanders was always supportive for gay marriage rights since the early 1970s whereas Hillary Clinton Goldman Sachs became supportive for gay marriage rights since about three years ago.
A million views and I legit cant find this vid even when searched word for word. Wtf UA-cam
David Koch publicly supported gay marriage in 2003. Spain passed the law in 2004. Etc
Full speech is 17 minutes of the most tortured word salad I may have ever heard.
This was 2004. We are now in 2016. She changed her mind, as did the President. That is what activism achieved. They saw the light.

Because he hasn't resiled from it, and his boasting about sexually assaulting a woman isn't the first time by a mile, and it's hardly in the same category as Clinton wanting all Americans to have equal rights to marry.

Please cite the date and time that Barack Obama gave millions of American dollars to terrorists. The amount, and when Congress approved it please. Please bear in mind that the Congress was Republican throughout the second Obama presidential term and that blocked everything he presented to them to the point of shutting down the government over healthcare.

Please research your facts before posting. The REPUBLICAN Congress approved the Palestinian funding in budget years 2015 and 2016. The funding is to be used for humanitarian aid in the West Bank and Gaza, to support political and security reforms as well as help prepare for good governance and the rule of law in a future Palestinian state.
Changed her mind for votes?
Guess this was before she found out her marriage wasn't such a 'sacred bond'....
I love sharing this clip.
This isn't beating around the bush. This is beating around the forest.
This comment section is pure gold
Not only this... but her husband signed the DOMA (Destruction of Marriage Act) that kept loving couples apart for YEARS... Some of these couples, many tens of thousands of them, lived in different countries, and were separated because of this.
yet she voted no on the bill that this speech was about, the 2004 bill to amend the Constitution to ban gay marriage.
so how did that "sacred bond" thing work out for you, Hillary?
Here come the Clinton apologists.
Wait a minute are you sure shes not Conservative? I think she joined the wrong party
Wait a minute I think she chose the wrong party
Hey its cool guys now that she could not stop gay marriage, she is all for it. Its ok if you try to do something do not succeed you can always jump on the winning side and say yeah I am with you.
