disappointed to see some of the negative comments for this video, your mindset seems spot on and very relative to where im at.
i recently built a small treadle hammer more to give my elbow a rest as i have tendinitis, dont feel quite ready to build a power hammer but building my small drop hammer has taught me a lot, im sure it will be a natural progression to move up to a larger build in the future

last week, 16 of us made 18 tire hammers. Cost, $1,400 per person. So, each hammer cost in the 1,300 range, with us providing our own labor. I make enough off of one commission to buy the hammer (and indeed, that's how I am paying for it). Clay Spencer is a special sort of man, and one of my new heroes.

The tool is also useful in unexpected condition.. Is best tool..
The tyre hammer one step ahead comparison with others..
Pheunometic is very heavy and expensive.. Not easy to change.
Tyre hammer easy to install, easy to change, more money feedback.

I want a power hammer that has variable speed and force of blows and can be used as a press as well. What you got?

I used to love this series of videos for its practical advice and succinct presentation. Lately both of these elements seem to have been forgotten. You ramble a lot, ask more questions than you answer, and often fail to reach any sort of definitive conclusion. The last dozen or so videos have left me more confused than enlightened.

I understand what you mean. The format has changed over the course of this year and I try to take in to account the responses I get from the people who watch and comment or email me. Both on what to talk about as well as how to talk about it. Some of the topics merit abstraction and I think it is a good way to approach a problem or topic from many angles. So I can't assure you that I will stay away from that sort of thing, but one thing I can assure you of is that there isn't a standard set way and I will keep working to find topics that are interesting to me and I am passionate about, then deliver that discussion as eloquently and concisely as possible. Thank you for watching and I appreciate your comment.
Also, I think we can all at least agree that the sound is definitely better now than at the beginning.

I am a bit the opposite of the opinion above. I was introduced to this series by finding this installment (Clay Spencer forwarded it to me... my interest was the power hammer.
-- I was on a road trip, and was playing your different installments (in no precise order) but mostly working backwards (this #49 was my first to listen to)... and I enjoyed several of them... as I got toward the early ones they were terribly difficult to listen to, for several reasons. The sound quality was one, your presentation style has also increased exponentially, I found the content of most of them to be very interesting

What in the hell software from 1995 are you using here? lol

It's GIMP, an open source graphic software. It's dog-ugly, but it works great and it's 100% free. Can't argue with free.

Lots of fluffy talk to sell BLUE. On the backs of the person(s) that makes there own .... as stated .... do I hear ... relate to Shade Tree Blacksmith in all the soft talk ... making and not buying ... makes the home brew blacksmith .... That's all BLUE has left. Pretty drawing ... you want to connect to Joe Shade Tree Blacksmith .... give your best how-to build drawing for free.

What a crook of shot. I thought it was about building a power hammer instead i had to listen to his home baked philosophy lecture and watch a kid have go at drawing a power hammer with e-crayons
