Aspyr is like a coin flip for Star Wars. There's good and bad coming from Aspyr.
Better odds than the name Daybreak. 😅
What's Daybreak?
@@loganfredebaugh7859if I’m write, he’s either talking about a game or the scp
Hmmmm, bad star wars game news 🤔 totally never heard of that before 💀😂
That's so relatable to every Star Wars fan.
@Logan Fredebaugh just spitting bare facts for the star wars gaming community my guy 😂
Thanks
KotOR being perpetually cursed by the universe? What else is new?
Signed, a diehard KotOR fanboy who considers KotOR 2 one of his favorite SW games 😭
Oh come on, the PC port had the TSLRCM for over a decade now.
I think this entire thing is a bit overblown. I'm pretty sure switch games proved to be moddable in the past, who says peeps won't port it on their own now? Plus, what HolyknightVader999 said - you have these things on PC for over a decade. You can play the mod, it's there. No one deleted it.
First the Kotor remake gets taken away from Aspyr now this???
Man they received a bad hand
Well, we may have dodged a bullet with the KOTOR remake, considering the state of modern Star Wars
cool name
@@marcusblackwell2372 Yeah, I heard there was going to be some kind of gender-swapping of already well established characters. If that's true, it would've been terrible, really stupid and disrespectful to the original.
Welp apparently development of the remake has resumed at Embracer Group, take that as you will however
@@Perceval777 Actually Sabre is doing the gender swap
Aspyr wanted to stay true to the original they even made the game RPG-ish
But Sony wanted a GoW style of gameplay so they took the rights away fom Aspyr and handed them over to Embracer and Sabre
I think Aspyr had the licensing for these games ripped out from under them, personally. Any chance these games were going to receive continued content and support died with their move to subsidiary of Saber Interactive. Which makes me less mad at Aspyr, which made quality ports of these games for years - and more mad at Embracer Group and Saber for sabotaging their projects. We won't be getting any new re releases of these games, and that is heartbreaking
Love your content Andrew, keeping it up even when you're sick
honestly, id have preferred for both Kotor games to be part of a duo pack for the ps4. i recently got the double packs star wars podracer/ republic commando and star wars Jedi knight Jedi academy/ outcast. I'm having a lot of fun with them and id like to play Kotor at some point. I'm a console gamer, and a port for the ps4 would be great .
I’m still annoyed that even if the KOTOR remake does see the light of day it’s a PS5 exclusive. You can do that with God of War, Spider-Man, The Last of Us, etc. but to do that with a franchise that’s widely loved by PS, Xbox, and PC players is ridiculous. Star Wars games should be on all platforms. KOTOR was on Xbox and now us players over there wouldn’t even be able to play it if that’s what they’re doing.
Money. Sony is by all accounts a main investor. Microsoft were approached but turned it down. Blame Microsoft.
I mean I agree with you but like.. that's how it works.
Kotor remake is still listed as in development by the Embracer Group as of the 24th of May this year and yeah, PS5 and PC.
Originally meant as a timed exclusive which may still be the case but we'll see what happens.
Still, it isn't like the original KOTORs are available on all platforms. Currently only on Xbox, PC and Switch.
Disney: "I have altered the deal pray I don't alter it any further".
Disney canceled culture at it's finest.
That's NOT what happened on the earnings call, I listen to it, and when asked about the KOTOR remake, he said, and I quote: "That's my favorite question . . . . (THEN HE SAID) no comment." He DID NOT sound 'exasperated.' I don't know where this story came from, but whoever wrote it clearly didn't listen to the earnings call. He sounded excited, especially when he said: "That's my favorite question."
So yeah, he DID NOT sound exasperated, and there was a whole sentence before he said 'no comment.'
Personally, I don't think Saber should've yanked the project so quickly, giving it to a different studio, (apparently Sony didn't like what they had done, but didn't give them any notes, they just told Saber to move it, that's what I've heard), but it sounds like it's moving forward, but unfortunately we have a big gap in production with all this nonsense happened with Sony.
Hopefully Aspyr find a way to release a Rogue Squadron collection. That would help them earn trust again. Maybe ports of Shadows of the Empire.
It’s almost like someone’s deliberately sabotaging the only part of Legends that is still alive
Until officially confirmed, I think that Aspyr was strong-armed into making this decision. Lucasfilm/Disney and specifically Kathleen Kennedy have always disfavored fans, especially Legends Fans. I think this decision came from on high as a passive-aggressive nudge type of order. It's no secret that Kathleen Kennedy and her Kronnies have some amount of disdain for Legends Content and The Legends Fandom. Again, until told otherwise via an official source, I believe the head of Star Wars is to blame because the leader must always take as much responsibility as those under them.
Thank you Activision/Blizzard for setting the president that it’s okay for companies to *NOT DELIVER ON WHAT THEY ADVERTISE TO THEIR CONSUMERS ANYMORE!* 🤨
Andrew you are my favourite UA-camr and just make my day thanks for all the amazing and awesome content thanks again mate
I wouldn't be surprised if this was a nintendo issue. We all know how they are with fans making mods
Hope your feeling better Andrew ❤
dont worry I'm sure we'll get restored content as soon as we get Beyond Good and Evil 2!
As much as it sucks, I'm not heartbroken about this cancelation since it's been a while since I have played kotor 2.
Damn This years has been rough for the Star wars community
The Bad Batch Season 2 and Jedi: Survivor were anything but rough for me. The only thing that was rough for me this year was The Mandalorian Season 3, which I found to be a letdown, but that hasn’t stopped me from being excited for Ahsoka.
Star Wars fans these days 😂 do you not remember the Star Wars content droughts that use to happen before Disney started pumping out new shows and movies hard. The entitlement is crazy from these fans nowadays 😂
@@cartierclips1126 Right I was chatting with someone about that earlier… like they’re not gonna consume it all lol. 😅🙄🤷🏻♂️
@@cartierclips1126 Most fans probably aren't that interested in all the garbage Star Wars content that Disney spews out together with a small amount of gems though.
@@cartierclips1126 lol yeah plus these” fans call Disney Star Wars “woke” and pushing an agenda despite the new trilogy wasn’t as political as the prequels and originals lol. George Lucas was very progressive and based the rebel alliance on the Vietcong communist party and the United States as the empire lol. If george Lucas stayed and made a new trilogy I bet Star Wars fans would literally call his trilogy leftist propaganda and woke despite Star Wars was always leftist. Lol and the values it teaches are anti facism is good. Conservatives are dumb(empire) ect.
Honestly this is still really frustrating but I'm glad I got really "lucky" I didn't get KOTOR 2 on Switch when it released like I planned, I can't even remember why now.
Now I didn't pay much attention to any information around the release so I kind of assumed the restored content would be in the game at launch, so I only found out it was DLC when I went to buy it earlier this week. I then decided to wait for the DLC to come out and get it then, looked up the release date a couple days later. The same day the cancellation was announced.
Feel bad for the people who have been essentially shafted by this though.
Maybe the fan made mod caused the problems due to it being fan made, they might not want to pay the developers or something
That would be stupid. But yeah they can't sell the mod - mods are free content.. That's most likely the issue.
Then they should've ironed out the mod and made their own version of it. How hard is it to bug-test a mod and make a better version when you're literally paid to do so?
Aspyr had long been working with the mod devs. Promoting the mod, coordinating updates to make sure the mod stays compatible, etc. The steam version even already has the mod integrated as DLC just as the Switch version was promised to.
This better not be a permentnant cancelation of the Restored content.
lolololo get a pc and you'll be fine
@@Saulbreadman yes this game runs on a shitty laptop from 2007 and its only like 2 bucks for the steam version on sites like g2a where as the switch version the physical version is fucking 80 bucks like i dont get why people get salty abbout an ancient game on outdated ass hardware that was allready outdated when it was new like i wouldnt be surprised if it was just the wii u but in a different jacket
KOTOR II isn't really that good anyway, mostly due to its bad pacing and sub-par writing. The first game is much superior on that front. The only bones I'll give KOTOR II is the dialogue can be pretty good and they added different saber styles.
@@EnnuiPilgrim
Don't you think what you said about Kotor 2 is a very shortsighted judgment? You should this Kotor's narrative foundation isn't supposed to be like Kotor 1.
You saying it isn't good for poorly undefined and untested reasons that don't have a profound bases is a very ignorant judgement.
@@thorshammer7883 No I don't think it's shortsighted; I think it's a realistic assessment of the narrative. I felt it was very rushed at times, locking you into missions or a string of missions without telling you.
I mean before I knew it I was fighting Nihilus and I just killed him with minimal effort. And he barely had screentime even though he was supposed to be the big baddie. Very underwhelming moment. I got more of a challenge when Atton was ambushed in the cantina by the Twi'lek assassins.
And the ending is so rushed it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. They obviously ran out of time and had to make deadlines so they rushed to the end. I get there was supposed to be a sequel, but this wasn't the way to finish the game. It's like they were just making it up as they went.
The first game's narrative is more simplistic, less erratic, and that's actually a good thing that plays to its strength. It doesn't convolute itself with half-finished threads of story or spontaneous plot devices. I mean they really did characters like Visas a disservice.
So yes, even though KOTOR II has some improvements and even some great moments, it is fundamentally inferior as an overall experience to KOTOR 1, which I feel is the GOAT of Star Wars games still.
Bro, you just made another video as I was watching this video😂😂
I smell a lawsuit
I love your content Andrew
Here's what happened:
1. Legal uncertainty over who owns or can be credited for parts of the restored content, there was extra voicework added in so there was probably some legal nonsense there. Since it was initially released as a mod this would have only been an issue if the rights holders did anything about it or even knew it existed. Only thing that contradicts this theory is that the mod version wasn't immediately hit with cease and desist letters on this news dropping.
2. Nintendo weren't happy with the bad press of the k2 switch port and were scrutinizing aspyr's work, they probably found something they weren't happy with or that the dlc was actually months away from working properly so decided to axe it.
3. Aspyr vastly underestimated how much work it would be to restore all of the content, remember the original restored content took almost a decade to see the light of day with only passionate modders working on it, aspyr isn't a big development house and they also have no actual experience working with this game or its engine so they wouldn't know what to do precisely. This is also somewhat confirmed by the way aspyr refused any help from the community and developers of the orginal restored content mod.
4. The switch version wasn't doing well commercially, and wasn't getting the best praise, so Nintendo or Lucasfilm or whoever calls the shots decided to end the DLC and the team to work doing something else because the executives don't care about a very small percentage of the overall star wars fan base. The only time they care about us, is when they think it is profitable to milk our nostalgia
Hey man love ur vids
It is so frustrating as I have just finished kotor 1 on switch, and I don’t feel like I should play 2 without the restored dlc as I’ve heard it is night and day difference
'who are you'
'im sio'
'sio who'
'sio later'
6:25 as well cancellation of Star Wars First Assault, cancellation of Star Wars 1313, and.. i dont remember more, so maybe cancellation of Empire at War 2.
We're just never gonna get another Kotor game. The best you're gonna get is a Revan mod for one of the fallen order games. 😭
Mannn… Well, no Dark Jedi Hanharr I guess. Just finished the game with the restoration mod and I’ve gotta say, it’s probably my favorite game choice and interactivity wise.
Lesson to remember from this. Easy, don't preorder.
I would love to see you play star wars rebellion, it is an older game for the PC. You command either the empire or the alliance and you fight for control of the galaxy
Awesome vid
Aside from PC, it seems as though Kotor2 + RCM will never be on any console in any official capacity. At least in my lifetime. And that sucks.
Thought it was saber interactive was handling it since it was taken from aspyre.
I don't understand why Disney made the force unleashed games legends just because of the starkiller dlc.
I think it more had to do with having to make Starkiller a canon character
I still own KOTOR 1 & 2 on the original XBOX. I’ve been wanting to play the extra content that KOTOR 2 had on consoles since I’m more of a console gamer.
🤯😭😭😭, like darth Vader said , nooooooooooooooooooooo
Ok, I've been watching these videos, mainly eckhartsladder ones, and asking the same question on all of them: Is KOTOR 2 worth playing without the restored content on Switch? I was one who bought the game and intended to wait until the release of the DLC to play, obviously, that isn't happening.
I've looked at the list of restorations the mods made, and I acknowledge some of them are pretty important to flesh out the story, but most of them seem like fluff. Granted this is coming for someone who's never seen playthroughs with and without the restored content.
All of the responses I've gotten on the subject say it isn't worth playing without the mod but others have also said the game is good but feels rushed toward the end. I really don't want this game to be a wasted purchase, even being as cheap as it was.
btw, I'm willing to play on PC but idk if my laptop can handle mods all that well.
4:17 I've actually only played the force unleashed and It wasn't even mine
Overwatch fans 🤝 KOTOR fans
Yep pretty much
I love Kotor I and II to this day . I can only imagine the horror that will be the reboot for a modern audience .
this guy looks like a younger house
what they should be offering is a full refund
I really hate this news. I haven't downloaded any of the KOTOR games on my Switch (been busy with other games don't hurt me) but I was waiting for the DLC before getting The Sith Lords. Now I have to play the game in its original form.
dude you must have a laptop somewhere this game can be run on a patatoe pc and then you pay 2 euros for the steam version on g2a you got ripped off if you bought the switch version
Oh no, the original form. The horror!
First world problems 😂😂😂
Honestly I was not surprised. I lost faith in aspyr ever since they didn't fix the camera in Republic commando which is so bad it makes the Switch version unplayable.
They are dropping the ball when it comes to the Star Wars games on Switch and unitl that changes, I refuse to play any Star Wars re releases they make.
I think these guys have been working on the KOTOR remake for a while. And then the Dead Space remake came out and they were in trouble. Now they have to match that quality bar and they probably didn't. It's probably a matter of reworking the majority of the project, or cancelling it. Of course, speculation.
Exactly none of it was Aspyr fault there is more to the story then people realize and that’s it at least they are giving us a free game
Never buy games based on a promise, if the game does not have the content you want do not buy it. Never pre order games and always wait for reviews. I've been burnt many times on this.
I want a released star wars battle front 2 and 1 the ones from 2005 and 2002 I think that's the correct year. I miss hearing those ewoks scream and jawas
Bro I bought the Star Wars heritage pack that had all those Star Wars games on it and knights of the old republic hoping for the dlc. I get NOTHING out of this. No free game nothing
Well, I wasn't able to finish kotor 2 because of the annoying wookiee boss fight on, Nar Shadaa? I think? I'm open for any correction.
I’m super bummed, I waited till may 4th to buy the kotor bundle. Saved me money and locked me in for the dlc…..I already own this game on Xbox and pc…..only got it on switch for dlc….
Still waiting for my key for Force Unleashed for Switch.
we knew what was going to happen from the moment disney suppressed lucas art we knew there was no hope
first off Not suprised second most dedicated Starwars fans have played this on PC with the DLC
Kotor means dirty in Indonesia
He hasn’t made a lego video in so long
Embracer group is killing gaming
Now Aspyr is getting sued!
Still waiting on my replacement key.
just refund the game if nintendo allows it for that price you can get that game on pc and then some extra games aswell
I submitted my info to Aspyr on Sunday and first thing Monday I got an email saying due to being flooded with requests it might take us awhile to complete your order. This is sad, especially since so much of this mess is out of their hands. Also what’s to stop us from adding the mod to the game ourselves without risking being sold into slavery by Nintendo?
Well 3 things:
#1: Yes the sold into slavery by Nintendo thing.
#2: We'd just be redoing this cycle of pain of fans fixing broken promises; like some sort of toxic relationship that keeps in perpetuity despite the lies and cuts.
#3: Aspyr needs to be held accountable for false advertising.
Granted nothing is stopping a bunch of passionate people from repeating what the Cut Content Mod crew did and porting the mod to switch; but it's a principal thing.
I cant find the restored dlc version on steam, someone help lol
I have that
Yeah, Jedi Survivor kind of softens the blow but it's still disappointing
I haven't played any of these star wars games☹☹
4:33
Subtitles: "Star Wars fans who wanted to play *Nazi* Republic 2"
I mean, if it's for copyright reasons, there is nothing they can do... It's not like Disney neved flipped and cancelled something
Then they shouldn't have promised it. That's why a lot of people bought it
I don't think the reason people are upset is the copyright. It seems more like an issue of the copyright being something a competent firm should have known about in advance. If it was an important factor in the buying decision, then it would be reasonable to be upset.
If a surgeon accidentally kills someone, they are not charged with murder. It would be ludicrous to claim that they should be. However, they might be charged with medical malpractice. That's because professionals in a field are expected to know that field. That's not to say that they intentionally mislead customers, but their lack of foresight is something which their customers paid the price for. Generally, that results in heavy damage to a corporate reputation. Now, that damage for incompetence is not as bad as it would be for deliberate deception.
So, yes, if it's for copyright reasons, then there is nothing they can do. However, the lack of diligence in getting reliable information before advertising the product is difficult to excuse. The basic problem is not that the content is unable to be included. The basic problem is that they announced something as a certainty when it was not certain. The damage to consumer trust is a natural result of that.
Bruh just said “the good news” bruh I actively try to avoid ads that’s why I pay for UA-cam premium so I don’t wanna hear an add for a lightsaber company I never heard from and they not even cheaper than more well known companies
Ah but here is the dig. If you want your free game, you are gonna have to link your google or apple account to their website account. So, they get your data to sell with your "free" game.
5 minutes and already over 100 likes
Thank God I never bought it for the Switch.
Same here
@@davidordaz5251 I was considering buying it for the Switch in the past. I decided not to, because the PC version has far more options.
*MR BOMBASTIC*
For me kotor 2 is the best star wars thing. The characters and world are really believable and i really like how morally gray the jedis are. The force is built up to be quite scary and mysterious and kreia is one of the most well written star wars character.
I OWN ALL THESE GAMES ALREADY.I literally PREORDED this I never do that. I just wanted to play this handheld. But I ended up buying a steam deck in the time I was waiting.
steam deck is the best handheld option yeah it costs more than a switch but atleast the games are cheaper
Take time Nintendo switch version
I mean, I payed like 8 bucks to play it on Switch, so I'm not really complaining personally. But I think it was wrong for them to falsely advertise. If you say content is coming or will be a part of the game, make sure that it is. There are no excuses for that. Otherwise don't say it.
Hewo
The fact that there trying to charge a modern day price for a game released 20ish years ago is just greed i hate companies when they make remasters or remakes since they definitely arent worth the price ill just play the original better graphics doesn't Do much for me i understand slightly for remakes but still if ive got the original game would still rather play that i prefer playing games in there original form some remasters are probably good just not worth the price for me at least ive learned playing a game as soon as it releases also is kinda of a waste especially the past couple of years since even if the game looks amazing it has low chance of succeeding and then the price drops a couple days after release
This is theft. Sue.
All of Lucasfilm is a complete cluster...
PLEASE PLAY BLADE AND SORCERY WITH THE OUTER RIM MOD!
For those that were around when it was initially released : George Lucas HIMSELF requested that certain portions of the game be pulled out. Which left the game a buggy jumbled mess. It had nothing to do with a rushed development time. Do better research, or ask someone who was around for the disappointment.
Whyyyy
I reckon that the heads who made the decision to abandon the KotOR 2 Restoration DLC and moved the KotOR remake just to put it on indefinite hiatus. Saber Interactive prioritizes multiplayer and has no skill with campaigns, if the shitty "campaign" mode of Evil Dead: The Game is anything to judge by. So, chances are that Saber Interactive has no idea how to do the KotOR remake. At this point, they should just get sell KotOR remake to Respawn... even though they'll go overboard on desexualization and make it a light side only story as they did with Fallen Order and Survivor. I reckon the romance subplot would be severely downplayed and restricted to cinematic sequences as well.
I've been waiting years for a proper port on ps4 lol....apparently Sony did not like there work on the remake that's why they were fired....its probably has to do with royalties bottom line did steam charge for dlc? Doubt it
No, this isn't right. I held off purchasing KOTOR 2 for Switch because I wanted to wait for the DLC. I've played KOTOR 2, I've played through it multiple times and I've never actually played any of the restored content. I want it on console, its original home and I was looking forward to it, waiting and hoping it would be on Switch. Then and only then would I spend money to buy KOTOR 2 yet again. And then this happened.
I expected something like this. I'm not surprised at all. And I'm not going to buy the KOTOR remake unless it really delivers something I want, not a rehashing of the same game I've already played. I'm done wasting money on broken promises.
Man star wars fans get shafted anymore. I hope it's a legal issue and they want to release it. If they release it, I'm my opinion, they should make it free dlc. I feel that'll show fans that they genuinely care about our support and really want to apologize for this blunder. It's small but it'll mean a lot
The original game is still good, but the mod makes it 100 times better. Honestly this is a dark day for Star Wars community.
Why did they do this to us? This is not ok. They better make this right! >:(
They gave a free game away costing millions I bet they aren't gonna do anything :(
@@theunknown4645 it wasn't free I still paid money for it.
Noooooooo

Sad
The old republic remake is gonna suck because it was given to saber, and hears why, Halo Anniversary…
That's... a very real possibility... I still replay both KotOR games a couple of times each year. If the remake is bad, I'll just keep playing the originals. I mean, it's not like I'm going to buy it right after it releases anyways (I want to see what sort of reviews it gets before I spend money on it; if it's poorly done, then I won't get it at all).
At this point, I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic about the remake. If that optimism is misplaced... well, I'll just keep replaying the originals...
Purposefully didn't buy it because I saw this coming a mile away.
Btw that’s not right the game was fixed by the developers the bugs were patched and issues were solved if you buy the game on pc now or on console or switch it’s perfectly playable the only thing it’s missing is the extra planet and the extra dialogue option’s which are all filler the restored content is just filler
depressing
