Yeah, absolutely. Revelations was an abomination but even that aside I couldn't see it succeeding without Weaving and Fishburne - they ARE Smith and Morpheus.
The defense of the Dock is one of my favorite sequences of the entire trilogy. Not just the sheer spectacle of it, but also the smart tactics the Machines employ. Drilling to bypass Zion's defenses; the Sentinels providing physical cover while the drills continue their work; the drill balancing on 3 legs to compensate for the loss of 1; the Machines having deployed a second drill ahead of time and at a different location; the Sentinels destroying the Hammer's antenna, then radio-ing ahead to warn the others that it might actually make it, prompting the Dock Sentinels to trash the gate controls that the Hammer would have to come through; and finally sacrificing some Sentinels to jump-start the second drill. I really appreciate it when antagonists are actually competent at what they're doing.

Maybe its after just having the dude from mind hunter play him in 4 but Hugo weaving really is amazing in this role and doesn't get brought up enough when talking about the greatest movie villians
The music, action, concept, the story the anomaly everything is top-notch for this film. And the best part is when we watch this first time we give a normal rating, but watching it, again and again, peels up of new theory and we will fall in love with the film.

I know you don't use these comments for movie picks, but the Wachowskis made another movie with anime in live action. Speed Racer. I highly recommend watching it, or at least adding it to your polls, because it is so good.
@@ryansmith-jr4gn Speed Racer? It is fantastic. A glorious bright and colorful movie with a Stoney that wears it’s heart big and bold on it’s sleeve. The races are exhilarating and exciting, and the score is to die for. Michael Giacchino is great on a normal day, but every single bit of the score, and sometimes the lack thereof, punctuates and accentuates the film’s goings on. When it was released in 2008, it was panned, a movie with too much cgi, at times very saturated colors, and at the least ones that didn’t fit. I don’t remember the reviews concerning the story, but it’s such a good, heartfelt story about family and familial bonds. It didn’t and doesn’t need to be more than that. Oh yeah, did I mention the Wachowskis are really good cinematographers? Every single scene in that film is shot in the best way to create the mood. You’ve got a big business man joining you for breakfast? Everything on the screen “points” to him, creating an uncomfortable scene even though no threatening behavior has been exhibited at all. And the transitions, the cutting back and forth between different perspectives, and on occasion, points in time; it’s stellar, it’s a good 30-40% of why I love this movie. They are seamless and fun, and keep the races kinetic and non races connected. I could probably write an hour long video essay on the subject and as such, I’m going to stop for now. Simply put, yes Speed Racer is good, it is a fantastic adaptation of an anime, and my favorite movie of all time.

Neo being rebuilt with Trinity to be batteries, because machines found out about their connection was nice to me, cause it doesnt undermine anything that was before in Matrix and actually gives more credit to Neo - Trinity relationship and its importance. It adds something to this 'universe'. You cant say the same about new star wars. New matrix wasnt great, but it wasnt really bad either. It was fine, ok, meh at worst.
I'm glad you guys reacted to these movies. It gave me an excuse to re-watch them along side the full-length to refresh my memory before matrix 4 comes out.
Ever since I watched this movie I have wanted a Superman movie with action scenes similar to this one, where punches makes these crazy shockwaves. Man of Steel was close, so was the Snydercut, but nothing have truly surpassed the feeling of just crazy power that this movie showcases. I know these movies have some flaws but I have always loved them, and never really got the hatred for the sequels. Hugo Weaving as Mr Smith is definitely my favorite part, but Ian Bliss did a really amazing job as the human version of him. He got the mannerisms so right and it is always so intimidating to watch those scenes with him. I have not seen the new movie yet and I am a bit worried as I have heard bad things about it, and I personally like the ending for this movie and I don't want that soured.

So I remember liking Revolutions after my initial watch. I also remember being confused. It wasn't till Path Of Neo. At the Neodamarung section of the game, the residual self images of the Wachowskis actually explaining the end of the 3rd film(before admitting that would be lame for a video game). After that I understood the ending much more. I always found it fascinating the ratios of Matrix Vs The Real World. There is roughly the same amount of Real World time in the first film as the Matrix time in Revolutions. I think the later films are definitely over hated (especially when you consider expectations vs reality, ik so much Vs in this comment). Other than that, revisiting this trilogy helped me appreciate what was done in Resurrections
Sad how many people didn't get that Neo is like Anakin in Return of the Jedi: because of his love (Anakin for Luke, Neo for Trinity and later, the people) they sacrificed themselves . In fact, Neo dies and has a body position akin to Jesus on the cross. That you missed this is... well, it is what it is.
You guys need to play ENTER THE MATRIX. Have two of you do two different playthroughs, one playing as Niobe and the other as Ghost so you can experience both storylines. Ghost and Sparks man, two great characters in that world and so many other elements and characters get more development and backstory.
I can never watch Matrix without thinking of "Ergo! Vis-a-vis! Concordantly!!". My biggest gripe with it is that the story - or at least the theme - is almost a bit too complex and deep for its own good (or alternatively, for my pea-sized brain to understand I guess). I'm well aware that the concept the series of movies tries to tackle isn't a simple task, but it's like they go above and beyond in some places. Everything else about the movies, I absolutely love. The score, the action, the sound effects, the attention to detail (like you mentioned during that final fight, with the air pockets, the short amount of extra rain during the impacts, etc., but also the colour grading between 'real life' and 'matrix' scenes), the cast, the acting, Hugo as Smith, I could go on but I'll spare you. They're not perfect, but man they're pretty great.
I swear, if Aaron was wearing sunglasses, he'd look identical to Agent Brown from the 1st movie. It's his hair, the way it's combed. Plus he's wearing glasses anyway.
I honestly have no idea why people like the first Matrix so much more than the others. Like there are plenty of plot holes and pretty much zero resolution to anything. I honestly think people just had way lower standards and didn’t expect movies to be coherent or complete back then. Like sure it’s a fun thought experiment, but it’s not a word problem it’s a story. I think the roundness of the resolution in the third one, despite some nonsense or the narrative complexity of the second poses much more interesting worldbuilding like all around. Like everything about Agent Smith was emergent and very interesting. In a game called Dungeon World they have a mechanic called Fronts, it’s basically when the players aren’t fixing a problem it’s reasonable to assume it’s progressing without their attention. The Matrix has the absolute best expression of that I have ever seen with Agent Smith, as a secondary antagonist that’s parried and ignored until he threatens the planet simply because he set free from his purpose. They all have flukey storytelling and narrative beats but hey so does Star Wars, and there is plenty of gold there too.
Yeah people look at the matrix as a mind boggling deep movie with a message rather than an awesome plot with a world, the sequels continue the plot and world rather than do something deep with a message again
@@booga324 except it’s not that deep. That’s the problem, it’s just kind of a vague empty point with cool cinematography until the sequels, and there’s plenty of deep vague implications in the sequels that people weren’t imaginative enough to engage with mostly.
exactly, "woah we are in a simualtion" is really only for the beginning of the movie and the rest is showing you a cool world and world building and awesome martial and guns, but people only really remember the simulation part more as deep even tho its just the base plot with cool stuff around it @@Souledex
One think I thought about when rewatching this film recently: why not use the mech-walkers to shoot the drills? They seem pretty integral to the machines plan, so why not shoot them with the mechs rather than leaving it to the people with bazookas? I reckon two mechs on a kamikaze run would do more damage than your whole infantry!
Lately, I've been feeling the urge to rewatch The Matrix trilogy to find some answers that I didn't grasp before. Like many others, I was drawn to the storyline, the concept, and the fight scenes right from the start. After rewatching the trilogy, I immersed myself in reaction videos and read a lot of comments, which led me to realize that The Matrix is all about choice, specifically the perspective of AI on human choices. In other words, it shows how machines learn and control human decision-making. We see this in the step-by-step guide provided by The Oracle to Neo (one meeting per film). Neo is faced with the choice of choosing between himself and Morpheus, and this choice lasts throughout the entire trilogy. Neo consistently chooses Morpheus, or Zion, and cypher love steak. we notice how everything The Architect said becomes true - Trinity dies, Neo reconnects to the mainframe, and the Matrix resets. However, taking a step back, we can see that there is something different compared to the previous five iterations: Neo, the one, chooses a different door from The Architect's room, and Zion is saved. As a program from the machine world, The Oracle guides the one to break the cycle of Zion always being destroyed. The Oracle's goal is to allow machines to coexist with humans, but if it's all up to The Architect, it's not possible. Here's a fun fact: the people hooked up in the Matrix are technically machine babies, since they are born, raised, and fed by the machines. Only people born in Zion are more fit to define humanity.
Revolutions is definitely my lease favorite but I still love the spectacle of the whole movie. I didn't see until I was old enough though it came out when I was like 7
Revolutions as several layers to unravel and analyze, and it seemed you guys kind of MISSED all of them due to focusing only on the CGI and action.. You missed (or edited out if your talked about it in your full Patreon version) 1) the Train Station is construct that is a hidden link between The Matrix/Power Plant and the Machine City Zero One 2) Sati is the first A.I. created by two Programs that has *no purpose* thus she was born with free will/power to choose, which most Programs are inately design with a purpose and have to learn to be more independant later one. Sati created the altered sunrise with the shining rainbow sky 3) the train station is name Mobile Ave (anagram of Limbo, the in-between) 4) Train man is a version of Charon the Ferry Man from greek myth 5) Merv is Hades thus his wife is Persephone (Greek Myth), the henchmen in Club HEL are "Vampire" exiles 6) Seraph "wingless" used to be an "angel" that worked for the Merovigian in the "Paradise" Matrix vers 1. 7) Smith is essentially an analogy for a Worm Virus (a terrible kind of computer virus that really exists 8) all the rain in the matrix is due to Smith's corrupting the entire simulation 9) Neo and Smith's fights are inspired more by AKIRA manga's psionic battle between Tetsuo and Kei, as well as the classic anime Saint Seiya, Wicked City, and Wu Xia kung fu fantasy films, it's not meant to "just look like "DBZ" per se that really diminishes the impact of the final battle, the whole analogy of "unstoppable force meets an immovable object" that is Neo versus Smith. Neo then finally understand the solution is stop fighting Smith externally by accepting that Smith is like Neo's "shadow self" into himself 10) Neo is more so representative of HINDU gods like Shiva and Vishnu (the Preserver whom can bring about the birth of a new world) and Smith is representative of Mara and Rudra (god of destruction, death and Storms) In their fight they swirl about each other forming a DNA helix pattern and a Yin & Yang pattern as the clash in the air. Life and Death in flux Also; There are Divine Hero/Savior figures from several ancient religions that pre-date Christianity, so don't always jump to "he's a Jesus figure" when Neo has more in common with the concept of Buddha/Boddisativa, Vishnu, Krishna, and Rama. Yes there is a slight parallels with Yeshua (Jesus) lore but there's a little more to it that that, such as accepting one's Dharma and one's karma and learning to ascend above it to join with the pure Buddha state of being, which is what Neo in-a-sense does 11) Oracle-Smith saying the line "everything that has a beginning has an end Neo" was meant as a hint to Neo about what to do, that everyone Smith assimilated still existed, and to let himself be assimilated by Smith to act from *inside of Smith* as he did back in that hotel hallway. Neo accessing the Source and the energy channeled from the Source allowed Neo to act as an Anti Virus and delete all the copies of Virus-Smith.... and his update code in his mind was uploaded allowing the Matrix to reboot to a far more real Matrix 7.0 and the green tint is gone 12) Neo achieved what no other human had in over 600 years, a form of truce between Humans and Machines & A.I. topped off with a great beautiful sunrise, the ending was beautiful so I don't know what more you guys would of wanted the trilogy to end like
If you think about it is Neo looking like John Wick instead of having his classic look in Resurrections the equivalent of Jack not having his classic look until closer to the end of the final season of Samurai Jack?
To this day I still think that keanu could be kenshi in the upcoming mk live action sequel, with his blind appeareance in revolutions and his iconic beard.
Lots of people like this one the least of the trilogy - many actively dislike it - but I personally prefer it over Reloaded. It is definitely a change from the previous two, with significantly less time spent in the Matrix itself, but the important parts of the story were always going to happen outside of the Matrix because that's where the real war is. I personally would've loved to see even more of the real world. The battle at the Dock is amazing and really shows just how overwhelming the machines are.
In terms of story this might be the weakest of all the Martix movies but it does have one of the best final fight scenes in all of action movie history in my opinion. The fight of Neo vs Smith is a straight up Dragonball Z fight. Like Goku vs Kid Buu.

Machines literally rebuilding Neo to examine him, to make him a battery, but they find out, he only believed he was the One, because of his love to Trinity, who told him, that she knew from Oracle that she would fall in love with the One, so he cannot die, so they rebuild her / ressurect her too, keep them close enough, but not enough for them to break out. The premise was great. The humanity thrived and wasnt at war with machines anymore, machines had civil war, learned to exist with humans. It was all cool. The beginning with meta breaking Matrix game was kind of weird to me, not too enjoyable. I would actually like another part seeing Trinity and Neo flying around the new Matrix version, getting more humans out of it.

The Oracle being the mother of the matrix taking care of the humans and giving the choices, and the architect being the Father of the matrix who want to enslave the humans.
After seeing the end for this movie. It did it occurred to me that the green tent that they have for the matrix is gone for the new movie because of what Neo did in this one

It is my personal headcanon that among the humans in the real world, there's a specific cultural norm that's like this long, drawn out inside joke that everybody knows, like when you think about The Game, or stuff like that. But in this case, it's them trying to make each other bust up laughing by leaving out a crucial word from the sentence just so that the person they're talking to will say, "What?" and then they throw that last word in. You'll never watch the movies the same ever again. DO NOT MAKE A DRINKING GAME OUT OF THIS. YOU WILL PROBABLY POISON YOURSELF.
most people disliked this movie, but this is actually my favorite one. it actually had an interesting plot. the other two movies felt more like they're mostly just done around the rule of cool.

And I recommend you watch Pitch Meeting with Ryan George, about the Matrix and a lot of other movies, that he shows and laughs at the holes in the movies in a funny and clever way, and I think that would be great for you for your channel.

A great trilogy all the movies were pretty good ... but this past movie Had some cool scenes but the 4th movie was pretty bad. i'd say a solid 4 out of 10... First matrix movie was a 9.5 out of 10 second movie was about 8 out of 10 This movie was about a 9 out of 10
It was meh at worst, but 4th one isnt totally bad. It doesnt undermine anything that came before and actually builds up on Neo and Trinity relationship and it makes sense. The meta breaking stuff in first act was the weakest and most confusing part to me, but it was still nice, especially after I felt they referenced some Animatrix stuff in the fourth one (like the One being about to fly, jump, it seemed biblical almost, there were definetely great moments in the new one).
Honestly I rate the fourth movie about the same as this one. The only memorable thing for me about the movie is the battle of Zion. The matrix and Neo parts were just plain boring. I never liked the final fight. There are literal parts copied from DBZ and it just seemed like a kid mashing 2 action figures together. I admit the CGI is great at moments but other times you can just see the contrast of the good CGI and the bad CGI. Smith also seemed more like a videogame boss in this final film. This film couldve been an hour and a half and achieved the same result.

Sad how many people didn't get that Neo is like Anakin in Return of the Jedi: because of his love (Anakin for Luke, Neo for Trinity and later, the people) they sacrificed themselves . In fact, Neo dies and has a body position akin to Jesus on the cross. That you missed this is... well, it is what it is.

You guys need to play ENTER THE MATRIX. Have two of you do two different playthroughs, one playing as Niobe and the other as Ghost so you can experience both storylines. Ghost and Sparks man, two great characters in that world and so many other elements and characters get more development and backstory.
I can never watch Matrix without thinking of "Ergo! Vis-a-vis! Concordantly!!".
My biggest gripe with it is that the story - or at least the theme - is almost a bit too complex and deep for its own good (or alternatively, for my pea-sized brain to understand I guess). I'm well aware that the concept the series of movies tries to tackle isn't a simple task, but it's like they go above and beyond in some places.
Everything else about the movies, I absolutely love. The score, the action, the sound effects, the attention to detail (like you mentioned during that final fight, with the air pockets, the short amount of extra rain during the impacts, etc., but also the colour grading between 'real life' and 'matrix' scenes), the cast, the acting, Hugo as Smith, I could go on but I'll spare you.
They're not perfect, but man they're pretty great.

I honestly have no idea why people like the first Matrix so much more than the others. Like there are plenty of plot holes and pretty much zero resolution to anything.
I honestly think people just had way lower standards and didn’t expect movies to be coherent or complete back then. Like sure it’s a fun thought experiment, but it’s not a word problem it’s a story.
I think the roundness of the resolution in the third one, despite some nonsense or the narrative complexity of the second poses much more interesting worldbuilding like all around. Like everything about Agent Smith was emergent and very interesting.
In a game called Dungeon World they have a mechanic called Fronts, it’s basically when the players aren’t fixing a problem it’s reasonable to assume it’s progressing without their attention. The Matrix has the absolute best expression of that I have ever seen with Agent Smith, as a secondary antagonist that’s parried and ignored until he threatens the planet simply because he set free from his purpose. They all have flukey storytelling and narrative beats but hey so does Star Wars, and there is plenty of gold there too.
Yeah people look at the matrix as a mind boggling deep movie with a message rather than an awesome plot with a world, the sequels continue the plot and world rather than do something deep with a message again
@@booga324 except it’s not that deep. That’s the problem, it’s just kind of a vague empty point with cool cinematography until the sequels, and there’s plenty of deep vague implications in the sequels that people weren’t imaginative enough to engage with mostly.
exactly, "woah we are in a simualtion" is really only for the beginning of the movie and the rest is showing you a cool world and world building and awesome martial and guns, but people only really remember the simulation part more as deep even tho its just the base plot with cool stuff around it @@Souledex
@Blind Wave The Machine City being in Saudi Arabia was a nod to the rumor of the Garden of Eden being there.
One think I thought about when rewatching this film recently: why not use the mech-walkers to shoot the drills? They seem pretty integral to the machines plan, so why not shoot them with the mechs rather than leaving it to the people with bazookas? I reckon two mechs on a kamikaze run would do more damage than your whole infantry!
If you haven't seen all of the Riddick series I would recommend it. Pitch Black is great and Chronicles has great lore.
Lately, I've been feeling the urge to rewatch The Matrix trilogy to find some answers that I didn't grasp before. Like many others, I was drawn to the storyline, the concept, and the fight scenes right from the start.
After rewatching the trilogy, I immersed myself in reaction videos and read a lot of comments, which led me to realize that The Matrix is all about choice, specifically the perspective of AI on human choices. In other words, it shows how machines learn and control human decision-making. We see this in the step-by-step guide provided by The Oracle to Neo (one meeting per film).
Neo is faced with the choice of choosing between himself and Morpheus, and this choice lasts throughout the entire trilogy. Neo consistently chooses Morpheus, or Zion, and cypher love steak. we notice how everything The Architect said becomes true - Trinity dies, Neo reconnects to the mainframe, and the Matrix resets. However, taking a step back, we can see that there is something different compared to the previous five iterations: Neo, the one, chooses a different door from The Architect's room, and Zion is saved.
As a program from the machine world, The Oracle guides the one to break the cycle of Zion always being destroyed. The Oracle's goal is to allow machines to coexist with humans, but if it's all up to The Architect, it's not possible.
Here's a fun fact: the people hooked up in the Matrix are technically machine babies, since they are born, raised, and fed by the machines. Only people born in Zion are more fit to define humanity.

Revolutions as several layers to unravel and analyze, and it seemed you guys kind of MISSED all of them due to focusing only on the CGI and action.. You missed (or edited out if your talked about it in your full Patreon version)
1) the Train Station is construct that is a hidden link between The Matrix/Power Plant and the Machine City Zero One
2) Sati is the first A.I. created by two Programs that has *no purpose* thus she was born with free will/power to choose, which most Programs are inately design with a purpose and have to learn to be more independant later one. Sati created the altered sunrise with the shining rainbow sky
3) the train station is name Mobile Ave (anagram of Limbo, the in-between)
4) Train man is a version of Charon the Ferry Man from greek myth
5) Merv is Hades thus his wife is Persephone (Greek Myth), the henchmen in Club HEL are "Vampire" exiles
6) Seraph "wingless" used to be an "angel" that worked for the Merovigian in the "Paradise" Matrix vers 1.
7) Smith is essentially an analogy for a Worm Virus (a terrible kind of computer virus that really exists
8) all the rain in the matrix is due to Smith's corrupting the entire simulation
9) Neo and Smith's fights are inspired more by AKIRA manga's psionic battle between Tetsuo and Kei, as well as the classic anime Saint Seiya, Wicked City, and Wu Xia kung fu fantasy films, it's not meant to "just look like "DBZ" per se that really diminishes the impact of the final battle, the whole analogy of "unstoppable force meets an immovable object" that is Neo versus Smith.
Neo then finally understand the solution is stop fighting Smith externally by accepting that Smith is like Neo's "shadow self" into himself
10) Neo is more so representative of HINDU gods like Shiva and Vishnu (the Preserver whom can bring about the birth of a new world) and Smith is representative of Mara and Rudra (god of destruction, death and Storms)
In their fight they swirl about each other forming a DNA helix pattern and a Yin & Yang pattern as the clash in the air. Life and Death in flux
Also; There are Divine Hero/Savior figures from several ancient religions that pre-date Christianity, so don't always jump to "he's a Jesus figure" when Neo has more in common with the concept of Buddha/Boddisativa, Vishnu, Krishna, and Rama. Yes there is a slight parallels with Yeshua (Jesus) lore but there's a little more to it that that, such as accepting one's Dharma and one's karma and learning to ascend above it to join with the pure Buddha state of being, which is what Neo in-a-sense does
11) Oracle-Smith saying the line "everything that has a beginning has an end Neo" was meant as a hint to Neo about what to do, that everyone Smith assimilated still existed, and to let himself be assimilated by Smith to act from *inside of Smith* as he did back in that hotel hallway. Neo accessing the Source and the energy channeled from the Source allowed Neo to act as an Anti Virus and delete all the copies of Virus-Smith....
and his update code in his mind was uploaded allowing the Matrix to reboot to a far more real Matrix 7.0 and the green tint is gone
12) Neo achieved what no other human had in over 600 years, a form of truce between Humans and Machines & A.I. topped off with a great beautiful sunrise, the ending was beautiful so I don't know what more you guys would of wanted the trilogy to end like

IMO the Neo and Agent Smith fight is closer to DB than DB Evolution was. Even my older father said this after we watched the live action DB.
Half bummed that there is no Gravity Falls today, but also happy because I am reminded that Matrix exists and get to watch it along with you guys.
To this day I still think that keanu could be kenshi in the upcoming mk live action sequel, with his blind appeareance in revolutions and his iconic beard.
Haven't seen this movie since highschool.
Lots of people like this one the least of the trilogy - many actively dislike it - but I personally prefer it over Reloaded. It is definitely a change from the previous two, with significantly less time spent in the Matrix itself, but the important parts of the story were always going to happen outside of the Matrix because that's where the real war is. I personally would've loved to see even more of the real world. The battle at the Dock is amazing and really shows just how overwhelming the machines are.
In terms of story this might be the weakest of all the Martix movies but it does have one of the best final fight scenes in all of action movie history in my opinion. The fight of Neo vs Smith is a straight up Dragonball Z fight. Like Goku vs Kid Buu.

Machines literally rebuilding Neo to examine him, to make him a battery, but they find out, he only believed he was the One, because of his love to Trinity, who told him, that she knew from Oracle that she would fall in love with the One, so he cannot die, so they rebuild her / ressurect her too, keep them close enough, but not enough for them to break out. The premise was great. The humanity thrived and wasnt at war with machines anymore, machines had civil war, learned to exist with humans. It was all cool. The beginning with meta breaking Matrix game was kind of weird to me, not too enjoyable. I would actually like another part seeing Trinity and Neo flying around the new Matrix version, getting more humans out of it.

The Oracle being the mother of the matrix taking care of the humans and giving the choices, and the architect being the Father of the matrix who want to enslave the humans.
The outlier programs were conscious beings who had purpose b4 they were replaced but, like us, they still desired to live and have purpose
After seeing the end for this movie. It did it occurred to me that the green tent that they have for the matrix is gone for the new movie because of what Neo did in this one

It is my personal headcanon that among the humans in the real world, there's a specific cultural norm that's like this long, drawn out inside joke that everybody knows, like when you think about The Game, or stuff like that. But in this case, it's them trying to make each other bust up laughing by leaving out a crucial word from the sentence just so that the person they're talking to will say, "What?" and then they throw that last word in.

A great trilogy all the movies were pretty good ... but this past movie Had some cool scenes but the 4th movie was pretty bad. i'd say a solid 4 out of 10... First matrix movie was a 9.5 out of 10 second movie was about 8 out of 10 This movie was about a 9 out of 10
It was meh at worst, but 4th one isnt totally bad. It doesnt undermine anything that came before and actually builds up on Neo and Trinity relationship and it makes sense. The meta breaking stuff in first act was the weakest and most confusing part to me, but it was still nice, especially after I felt they referenced some Animatrix stuff in the fourth one (like the One being about to fly, jump, it seemed biblical almost, there were definetely great moments in the new one).
Matrix 3 is bad
Honestly I rate the fourth movie about the same as this one. The only memorable thing for me about the movie is the battle of Zion. The matrix and Neo parts were just plain boring. I never liked the final fight. There are literal parts copied from DBZ and it just seemed like a kid mashing 2 action figures together. I admit the CGI is great at moments but other times you can just see the contrast of the good CGI and the bad CGI. Smith also seemed more like a videogame boss in this final film. This film couldve been an hour and a half and achieved the same result.
Watch this Movie if you have insomnia,, it would give you a good sleep..
