@@TheLifeEvents I can relate Dennis, the place really does make a lasting impression and then some! Hopefully my wee video brought a little bit of that back 😊 Thanks for watching!
I would visit Scotland regularly on my motorcycle traveling from Northern Ireland. I would get the ferry from Greenock to Hunters Quay and then a 25 mile run up to Inveraray which is absolutely stunning... Inveraray has fantastic views, lovely restaurants and wonderful walks. Dont forget to check out the Vital Spark in the harbour.. Scotland the brave.. Scotland the beautiful..
Cheers Stuart! Walking into a painting like that is something I've spent a good few years developing, just takes ages to do haha. I'm pleased you enjoyed it though and thanks very much for the lovely comment! Best, Derek
Ah cheers Dennis! That's incredible that little has changed in all that time, great to know that it still looks the same now as it did then. I've got another video of the nearby Dun na Cuaiche walk nearby on this channel if you're interested 😊 Thanks for watching! Best, Derek
Sounds beautiful! Yes it is one of my favourite Scottish towns and I have made more than a few videos there. Can't wait to go back myself! Many thanks for the lovely comment 😊 Best, Derek
Many thanks Ken! I agree it's a beautiful walk regardless of the weather with a fantastic view at the top 😊 Thank you for the lovely comment! Best, Derek
Aw great to hear Jonathan! It's such a great wee town and you'll love it I'm sure! So happy you enjoyed the video and thank you for the lovely comment 😊 Have a great trip!
Just found you! Subscribed of course since I can only and crave the “live” experience through your heart for a country I love. My GGG ancestors from Duisky on Loch Eil in 1837 now in Western Australia. A few connections to Inveraray of GGGG ancestors! Beautiful ❤
Aww thank you so much Lorrai! That's incredible that you have ancestral roots all the way over here 😊 So interesting to hear! Thank you so much for commenting and welcome to the channel! I'm so happy to have you here :) Best wishes, Derek
I spent a few days in Inveraray back in 1996. Fell in love with the place (love the Highlands and have climbed all the Munros). However, the B&B landlady reproved me and said the place should be pronounced just Inveray, not Inveraray To this day I do not know if she was right. Wonderful shots of the country, thank you so much for posting, and clearly by your painting you have much affection for the place too.
Malcolm, I suspect your memory of the landlady's advice is suspect! The correct local pronunciation is "Inverara" -- the last syllable changes from -ay to -ah.
Hi Stefania! I don't offer guided tours as such but would be happy to give you some advice as well as perhaps film a wee video of your trip for you! Please send me an email if you're interested and I'll do my best to help you however I can 😊 dhshieldsvideo@gmail.com Best, Derek
Cheers Patrick! I use screen capture software to record my painting process and After Effects / Photoshop for the animation 😊 Pleased you enjoyed the video and thanks for the comment! Best, Derek

Brings back memories of my younger days. Little has changed on the outside from 1979 when I visited.

@@DHShields Thanks, Derek. My identical twin (Who lives in Boston MA.) is called Derek! I will certainly take a look.
I traveled through there in March. Had lunch at Brambles, ate crab Brioche, delicious. Beautiful town. All be well!
