Dr Dray I know this is an older video, but i’m still hoping you see this reply as i am wondering about a topic you might know a fair amount about (although it is not in your expertise).. you seem to shower everyday after working out. have you had any dryness residing in your hair/scalp region? i have fairly oily hair and find the need to shower at an every other day minimum.. would you recommend i keep it that way? or do you think it would be alright to start washing my hair everyday? thanks a lot :)

Dr. Dray I just started to follow you this Jan2021 and this is the first video I see you in your office! I just want to say thank you for sharing your knowledge. I’ve learned so much from you this past 4 months. Thank you again.
I have bumps on the back of my arm and I’ve been wondering for years and years and years what is cause from and she just helped me so so so much. I was using expensive soaps that said that they could clear it up ( never did ) and now I know why thanks Dr. Dray!!

I knew I loved you, and then you said you loved Oprah. I didn't know my heart had this much love haha! Thank you Dr. Dray for sharing your knowledge and experience with us!
Just watching this video! Yes, I love Oprah! She is very charismatic and she has a genuine interest in people. And, in my opinion, one of the (many!) reasons she is so successful is because she is relatable. She doesn't try to come across as someone who is doing everything perfectly. She lets people see her flaws and she's very endearing. Loved this video! That looked like a HUGE candle you were burning but maybe I was seeing things. LOL
Dr Dray, would you ever consider making a podcast on Spotify or Apple Music? I listen to a lot of doctors on Spotify because 1. I'm more of an auditory learner and 2. I'm always in the car & commuting for work. Love your vids!
I gave up soap for bathing 20 years ago. I had painful, itchy, patchy dry skin that was unbearable in the wintertime. I had my ah-ha moment when I thought about commercials that say soap is drying for skin and stopped using it for most of my body. What a difference that made.
I love what you said about Oprah, I agree she is such a natural when talking to people. I also loved to watch her when I came home from work. Take care Vicki
Love your vlogs Dr. Dray! I've watched quite a few of them and noticed you cook with a ton of veggies. Quick tip for you, once you're done cutting up veggies put the ends and left over pieces that you would normally throw away into a ziplock bag and freeze it. Continue to add to this bag overtime and once it's full put it in the crockpot and add water and seasoning and you can make your own broth. It's the best veggie broth ever! Plus it's less waste. I keep everything from carrot shavings, onion peels, tops of peppers etc. I came across this method from Jen from "How Jen Dows it". I think you'd enjoy her channel!
Wow that is brilliant Jill! Thanks for sharing! I will have to try this some time. Love "how jen does it"! So glad you are enjoying the vlogs and I am really happy to have you here! Thanks so much for your sweet comments and I hope you are having a fab night! xoxo
Hi Dr Dray my favorite yankee candle is anything green like the balsamic cedar or the pine especially on Christmas we're these pine scent come more for sale just love the sent of pine ones 💚
Hi, Dr. Dray! This popped up on my feed and I loved it! Loved your comment about Oprah and how you changed your interview style with patients. They were very fortunate to have you! Love your channel!!
Catching up on & enjoying your older videos. I don't burn candles at all. I develop a scratchy throat, congestion, & I swear my lips swell! Not the person to take to Yankee Candle!
I was banned by my Asthma and allergists specialist to stop using primarily any plugins and candles but they suggested that if I was going to still pursue my habit to at least pay attention to the side effects right when I lighten up a candle or plug a flower wall, then soon I discover those flower walls where making me coughing and sneezing til I get nosebleeds, and if I use citrus or fresh scents on candles I won't get sickened by them. However my Doctor says pursuing this habits could cause pulmonary damages.
Welcome! So happy to have you here and glad you are enjoying the vlogs! Look forward to interacting with you in the comments and hope you are having a great day!
It was fun to see you in your lab coat. You were talking about candles & fragrances. I'm always drawn to ones that mention rain or the ocean in the name....& they're usually aqua or a color similar. Aqua is one of my favorite colors. Dear woman, you pay it forward all the time by so sweetly, thoughtfully, compassionately sharing your vast knowledge w/all of us. And here's another thought.....I know this video was done early on when you had just started doing videos on YT....but....what if this particular woman in Subway saw you YT channel , recognized you & wanted to pay it forward because of what she'd learned from you?
That was nice of the lady. One time I was ordering coffee and I was going to pay with my card then I realized I didn’t have enough money so I changed my mind and told the cashier I was gonna pay cash. So the girl behind me in line laughs at me and says “oh haha you realized you didn’t have enough money so you changed your mind.” People are just weird, being nice is easier, much better, makes life better. Plus I didn’t care, but someone else who does struggle with money would feel ashamed.

The only type of bar soap I use is natural African Black Soap (not the brand names with other stuff in them). I buy a chunk & cut off pieces. It’s very soft & melts easily, so don’t leave it sitting in water. I’ve used it for about 6 years. I’m 61.
please talk more about how you interview/listen to your patients!!! that sounds really interesting... we don't have the Oprah Show in my country!!! so I really haven't seen much of her in my life...
I am very fickle with candle scents. Try to to never buy a large one. Actually, I’ve been using wax melts in a warmer. That way if I get tired of the scent there’s no waste because they’re so tiny. Yankee Candle has a huge collection of high throw wax melts and they’re only $2 each.
I see that you like the Lavender essential oil body spray. If you like candles, why don't you try getting into essential oils in mist diffusers, that way you can change the scent as often as you like and you get all the health benefits of the EO's?
Hi Kelly! Thank you for your helfpul comment! Great idea, I should definitely try a mist diffuser. I really like the glow of the candle too though. Hope you are having a fab night/day!
I love candles too but there is something really special about the essential oils. If you ever have a chance give them a try🙃 thanks so much for your awesome vlogs, I really enjoy them.
I can't use any kind of soap or face wash on my face, my skin is super sensitive and dries out really easily when I use the wrong products. Avene super gentle cleanser is about the only cleanser I've found that doesn't irritate skin
Thanks Amy! Glad you are enjoying the videos. True bar soap (like ivory for example) is pretty drying. However, there are "non-soap" bars out there (like dove or cetaphil bars) that have a lower pH and are less drying. The nice thing about a body wash, which is an emulsion system that allows a "non-soap" synthetic detergent cleansing combined with enhanced skin moisturization and emolliency. One point though is that they are generally applied with a puff, which can breed bacteria and actually be problematic for eczema prone skin if not changed frequently. Hope this helps!
Dr Dray with regards to body soap, how do you feel about soap made from goat milk? Would this be a better option than regular body soaps? I’ve used Beekman. Thx!
I’m new to your videos and I have been told I have dermatitis. Well on my face it doesn’t seem to get any better? Even after the cream they prescribed me. I’ve used so many different products and when I apply any makeup it’s still flaky and looks disgusting.
I think my husband has a melanoma on his scalp but i can't get a referral to have it looked at 😔😟 can you do a video on melanomas and what to look out for?
When you were talking about moisturizing right after the shower, can hypoallergenic baby oil help too? Or is that to irritating because of fragrances added? Love your videos! 💜 I basically changed my whole skin care routine because of you! Can’t wait to try it out! 😁
Hey Dr. Dray! Were you in school while living in NYC? I currently live in NYC and have been looking at schools to become a dermatology PA. Are there any schools you recommend? Thanks!
Aww, thanks Rain! So glad you are enjoying the vlogs and happy to have you here! Thanks for your nice comments and I hope you are having a great night!
Dr D you need to personalise your office you deserve more than a windowless cell to be in, you pay it forward doing what you do here and in your clinic I bet. You will have an opportunity presented to you so don’t worry too much.
I appreciate all your videos, I love your honesty and openness besides your knowledge. I have a medical question for you. Can a person get a biopsy too early on a suspicious melanoma spot? I was diagnosed with melanoma insitu, had surgery with a skin graft and lab results came back as no cancer. I researched and read sometimes when a lesion is biopsied too soon, the lab results are sometimes false. Your thoughts please. TYIA

I’m wondering if it’s possible that using soap to wash your face every day can cause rosacea? I never used to have rosacea and only developed it after I used bar soap on my face for a long period of time?
Hello Dr. Dray! Just found your blog. I was looking for a video on why you chose Dermatology and I noticed you had PhD on your white coat. Could you talk about that? I'm shadowing a Dermatologist on Monday. I'm considering the specialty myself. I'm a year 1 med student 😀
Dr Dray Hi, That’s very cool and inspiring! I was wondering if you could make a video about why you chose Dermatology, any study tips for students who want to go into this competitive field, especially when it came to step ‘n what was your day to day was like as an MD/PhD student ( if u were in a combined program). I asked for a lot, but I’m excited to see this bc a lot of dermatologists on on the media don’t go into this side of their life....I love your vids. Keep them up! Thanks a lot!
It's weird that Dove is so mild because I wad told by a dermatologist that there's something in it that is irritating. I went in with a weird rash and he couldn't identify it, called someone in who also couldn't idenify it and ended up telling me to not use Dove.
I know this is an old video but I'm new to this channel....i guess I should sub. Anyway...i have found that if I use salt scrub in the shower my skin stays super soft and hydrated. Its probably the high glycerin content. But I get mine from Ross or Marshalls for like 6 dollars and I've found the ones that say they are made in Isreal work the best. Maybe they have more glycerin. But I was wondering if you had ever tried a salt scrub or if you think it's just basically irritating the skin with the salt and then locking in the moisture with the glycerin? Idk but it got rid of the little bumps I used to have on the backs of my legs right above the knee.
Thank you so much for the reply! I wouldn't put it on my face. But for the legs and trunk it's surprisingly effective. Thank you again. Have a good night!
Does your white coat say you're an MD-PhD? My husband did his MD-PhD at UNC but now works for Epic. I just go back through your old videos when I can during the day from our family business (which is a private medical practice, so I'm Med-minded). I came by trying to learn the medical science behind my skin issues and find you really easy to connect with unlike those purely medical-heavy channels that give you no real reason to subscribe and continue learning past the one issue you're researching at the moment.
Hi Dr Dray-concerning bathing,no wonder years ago my skin always felt so dry after using Ivory,in their commercial I remember they used a baby,do not use Ivory today ,any way wouldn't a person also wash feet, ears &of course head(shampoo). Enjoyed.......Bye..
It sure can! I find that I can eliminate this problem by by putting it on wet skin and allowing it to air dry. Try it out sometime and let me know if it works for you too :)
Dr Dray thank you. I do this all of the time, but it doesn't seem to help. I use the Cerave moisturizing lotion (the one in the jar) after the Cerave foaming cleanser.
I tell everyone that all I used for over 20 years, Dove soap (sensitive skin) and gel moisturizer (clinque). I'm 43 now, and no one believes that number. Only now am I starting to see sun damage and a few wrinkles under my eyes.

Thanks!
cornell has a good pa progam

Aww, thanks Rain! So glad you are enjoying the vlogs and happy to have you here! Thanks for your nice comments and I hope you are having a great night!
I like candles that smell like the beach
I am so hooked on you!
thanks for watching!
TYIA
I always get a glycerine bar soap or castile soap on my skin. I do not use cocoate or tallowate
Can you make a video about apartment hunting
What moisturizer do you recommend in or after the shower?
see my "How to moisturize the body Q&A"
Dr. Dray, what body lotion do you suggest to put on after the shower to prevent moisture loss?
i have a video on this: ua-cam.com/video/2xlRlhXit80/v-deo.html

I’m wondering if it’s possible that using soap to wash your face every day can cause rosacea? I never used to have rosacea and only developed it after I used bar soap on my face for a long period of time?
not cause, but definitely definitely worsen
Hello Dr. Dray! Just found your blog. I was looking for a video on why you chose Dermatology and I noticed you had PhD on your white coat. Could you talk about that? I'm shadowing a Dermatologist on Monday. I'm considering the specialty myself. I'm a year 1 med student 😀
study hard
yes i have an md and a phd
Idk but it got rid of the little bumps I used to have on the backs of my legs right above the knee.
i am not a fan of the salt scrubs on the face
Thank you so much for the reply! I wouldn't put it on my face. But for the legs and trunk it's surprisingly effective. Thank you again. Have a good night!
You like nice in the marathon shirt and your hair in a ponytail.
Thanks Ms Larissa :) Glad you are here
Is coconut oil good for your shin?
I love it for my skin and hair
Love the hair short - youthful facial features and perfect skin - I'm totally jealous 🤓
Where do I know u from????
Hi Dr Dray-concerning bathing,no wonder years ago my skin always felt so dry after using Ivory,in their commercial I remember they used a baby,do not use Ivory today ,any way wouldn't a person also wash feet, ears &of course head(shampoo). Enjoyed.......Bye..
yeah no need to use soap
My skin never liked ivory or dove.
Why does my face feel sticky/tacky after applying moisturizer?
It sure can! I find that I can eliminate this problem by by putting it on wet skin and allowing it to air dry. Try it out sometime and let me know if it works for you too :)
Dr Dray thank you. I do this all of the time, but it doesn't seem to help. I use the Cerave moisturizing lotion (the one in the jar) after the Cerave foaming cleanser.
Woow beautiful skin and eyes i likee uuuuu
Thanks!
When you said you were dating yourself i totally was thinking dating like boyfriend and girlfriend dating haha blonde moment
I tell everyone that all I used for over 20 years, Dove soap (sensitive skin) and gel moisturizer (clinque). I'm 43 now, and no one believes that number. Only now am I starting to see sun damage and a few wrinkles under my eyes.
thanks for sharing
