    Useful standard utility module. Has more use as a control voltage processor, rather than for audio (which it doesn't do much for). Good vid for showing the design process.

    It's funny, I find this video just after looking back at Forrest Mims old Radio Shack pamphlet/book, "Timer, Op Amp, and Optoelectronic Circuits & Projects" - that exactly describes building these (individual) circuits. Nice video, thanks! (I kept wanting to HEAR what the waves sound like, so you've inspired me to just go make these myself....)

    This module idea is an AWESOME concept!!! Brilliant work Markus! If I had an Euro rack system or any kind of modular gear/system this module you're making would definitely be my favorite/dream "synth gizmo" for sure. Can't you make blueprints for an stereo tabletop/pedal version of this marvelous piece of engineering? :D
    PS: Don't forget to add CV input for LFO's / sample and hold generators.

    Hey Markus great idea! Really love your videos. I think it would be great if you could do a video series on like audio circuit 101. I would love to learn why a certain resistor is needed versus another one or why this part of the circuit goes to ground etc.. Maybe it could even be a patreon thing where you upload like monthly build homework and we can make a simple preamp or eq.

      Adamski A. Hi Adamski. its not too technical as you will know its just playing with op-amps. I have been making the second part today and it does not work too well with audio but cv seems to be interesting. how are you getting on with your breadboard synth ?. I have been following your progress and its becoming a seriously great synthesizer.

    • @AdamTheAd-vanc3d
      @AdamTheAd-vanc3d 5 років тому

      @@markusfuller Ok kool maybe do an update video at some point if you decide to go further with it. Perhaps it response better to a dc signal as a pose to ac. Cv control sounds very intresting.
      The prototype is pretty much done . Im just trying to get my head around KiCad to finalise the schematics thou i think i will struggle with designing pcbs. Do you know of any companies or people who could actually do this task in the u.k ?

    • @markusfuller
      @markusfuller  5 років тому +1

      Adamski A. I do not know of any companies that would do this. Im pretty oldschool when making circuit boards. however there is a free program called fritzing where you can copy your breadboard and then make a circuit board from that. its a bit of messing around but looks useful for translating breadboard projects.

    • @AdamTheAd-vanc3d
      @AdamTheAd-vanc3d 5 років тому

      @@markusfuller Thank you very much for the reply and the info Markus. Fritzing sounds like a very ideal solution for a proto/perm pcb for me at this stage , i will check it out 😎

    Great video Markus! I was looking for schematics for attenuverters recently and this is perfect to find. I wonder what kind of circuit would be needed to add control voltage inputs for the bias and inversion potentiometer positions? I'm still a newbie at DIY synth stuff but eager to learn all I can.

    I'm another person who would love to hear what the output sounds like at audio rates. When Markus started talking about "sum and difference" I thought - is this going to be a strange reimagining of the Ring Modulator !? (Nope). Ring mod is a frequency multiplication I think, and so quite dissonant and metallic as the frequencies curve up and away from the harmonic source. These waves though should sound more musical. Those mutating waveshapes would sound great when slowly morphed by an LFO, but perhaps that's for version 2 eh?

  • @nicholasroos3627
    @nicholasroos3627 5 років тому

    Sum the outputs (both sum and diff amp circuits) and take a listen! Looks like some interesting in and out phasing happening at a very controlled manner. More of a way to patch the module. Not suggesting the use of another opamp ;)
