- Not sure how to use Darkroom Booth 3?
Check out this full overview of how I set up for an event each and every time! The program is extremely user-friendly once you understand the fundamentals for each setting.
I always start with the Output setting and get myself organized by creating a new event. Next, I adjust my print template design.
From there I move on to the live view setting and make sure my camera is in focus (TIP: make sure to keep your camera body set to manual otherwise if you leave it on autofocus the camera and the countdown timing will have a hard time getting focused while people are moving around).
Once that is adjusted I head over to the camera settings and adjust only the TV and ISO depending on if there is a lot of light in my environment. Read below for the camera settings rule of thumb.
*Make sure to set the image quality size to Jpeg small fine1... This way your image files will not take up a lot of space on your computer.

I was trying to make up my mind between darkroom or social media booth. it looks like I will be buying darkroom. thanks for the video.
Awesome! I’ve never used that other program but Darkroom works good
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I feel better now 😊.
I'm so glad this helped! You're welcome!
Note,...if the boxes in the Template are the same size,...once Photo 1 has been Resized to the 1st box in the Template,...just Copy 'n Paste 2 times,....move the copied photos to position #2 and #3,...and Double-Click the copied Photos and change from Photo1 to Photo2,...and do the same for the third image to get "Photo3". This will save you valuable time in sizing up Photos for a particular multiple image photo template! Also,...you can use the Left/Right - Up/Down arrows to 'nudge' the Photo to the perfect position! Also,...it's tons fast to just hit the Delete Key once an item in the template is selected! This is wayyyyy faster than going through the Menu to delete elements within a Template/Graphics setup.
Dude you are awesome. Thank you so much for this. Keep up the great work. Would like to have a convo with you sometime. Thanks again.
Glad this has been helpful! Email me richard@rdnz.design
Nice!
Hi Richard, Thanks for your videos but can you tell me why my images are are displaying side-ways on the monitor mirror photo booth?
Glad to know the videos have been helpful! Seems like maybe the computer orientation is not in portrait mode. Do you have the camera turned sideways? If so, there’s a setting in Darkroom (think it’s the liveview setting or output) which you can set how the camera is turned.
@@RDNZ_Media it worked thanks. I'm not really technical but I want to know how 4x6 portriat with one picture and have the customer pick how many pic they want, and how to preview before accepting the pic or retake the pic
You would want to set up the 4x6 template with 1 picture (grey numbered box) and as for the certain amount of prints this would depend on how you have things set up for your mirror booth.
- If you are using the animations, offering multiple copies is a little tricky but in the "control setting" there's keyboard triggers that you can press to offer more prints. Also, at the bottom of that setting there's an option for face detection for more prints depending on how many people are in the picture which you can set a maximum amount.
- If you're just using a normal screen template with a liveview box then you can just create a button and set the command for more prints so when they press the button it will ask for how many copies.
The bottom of the "text setting" there's the option to review print, not too sure about the retake option.
Is photoshop the only system you use to make your templates , or do you have any recommendations?
Photoshop is my popular choice but I’ve made videos showing how to use other software like Canva and Photopea.
Photopea is just like photoshop but free!
Hello sir, I’m just wondering what software do you prefer (DSLR Booth) Or (DarkRoom)?
Good question! I haven't spent much time using DSLR Booth but I feel like it's user friendly with a modern up to date look with more features than Darkroom. The Darkroom software has been looking a little outdated. I'd say DSLR Booth is a better option to learn and use, I'll see if I can do a comparison video of both softwares.
Do I download this software onto the internal PBI photobooth computer, or, do I download the software onto my personal laptop... and export the settings somehow to the photo booth?
You’re going to want to download and activate the software on the primary computer for the photo booth. You can download the software on a separate computer as just the trial if you’d like to work on the templates separately and then export to upload on the main photo booth computer.
Does this features are included in the software purchase??
Yes the only difference on the trial is it will leave a watermark on the prints but will go away once you activate the software with the license code.
Does the live view typically run slow or laggy?
Yes it can but I think this might be due to the software itself or possibly the type of camera. I do notice a lag in the liveview but I don't pay too much attention to it as long as guest are visible within the box the final picture comes out fine.
Hi - can you do bigger prints? Like an 8x10 with this software?
Yes, there’s lots of print sizes available for the program just depends on your printer capabilities
Does this software works well with mirror photo booth?
Yes, check out my other video on my tutorial playlist to learn how to add animation videos to the settings
Greetings Richard are you still active using DR?
Yes, was there something specific about Darkroom you needed help?
@@RDNZ_Media I was having trouble with the software but I good now. Thanks
Hey, i'm having some trouble getting my Canon 6D to read under darkroom photobooth 3, any suggestions?
much appreciated
Have you tried changing the camera usb cord? Could be a faulty cord
@@RDNZ_Media thanks for the response. This is a problem with a few of the cameras in my studio, in this case I'm using a converter HDMI cable but I believe it works with different cameras
I see, I’m used to using the Canon T6 model it’s the only one I’ve tried with Darkroom Booth 3. I plan on trying out my Nikon D7200 soon
Make sure wifi is in disable mode.
I've heard that could cause an issue if you don't disable the wifi
Can I use Canva to do the same thing as photoshop?
Not really, Photoshop has specific editing tools that Canva doesn't provide. Here's an article that points out the key differences. www.coralnodes.com/canva-vs-photoshop/#h2_4
Thank you
my software keeps saying "one" nothing else
Are you referring to the countdown?
Do you still use Darkroom
Yes, how can I help?
I just started using the software. How do I print single 2x6 pictures
@@rebeccajean9757 this all depends on the printer you are using, if using the DNP RX1 then single 2x6 prints are not possible. From what I know the DNP 620A can do single 2x6 prints, double check with the manufacture.
@@RDNZ_Media the printer I have is a sinofia
@@rebeccajean9638 not too sure on that brand, contact the printer manufacturer on what they recommend or possibly Darkroom support
