Best chicken/duck channel ever. It’s wonderful to see people caring so well for their animals and showing others the ‘right’ way to care for livestock. Not only that, the information you’re providing is invaluable. 🇨🇦
Lol, they really love the greens. I was surprised there was no calling of the hens by a rooster. That tidbitting sound they make. The ducks hanging together and laughing 😂😂❤
One more thing … have you seen the great ‘chicken print’ overalls from Duluth Trading U.S. I have 2 pair of the solid color ones … best overalls on the market, lots of pockets, strong fabric and stretchy too. Be aware though … if you order … they are made quite large. I’m 5’2”, 120 and XS is still roomy. Just a thought. 🇨🇦 Brenda
Hi Kelly I love your rooster freckles wow what bread is he love to get one but not shere. An love the boots I need me a pare to do my chicken chores to love watching your videos thanks for sharing I thought about duck but it gets freezing here we’re I live an I no that ducks need water to swim
Thank you! Freckles is a Mille Fleur D’uccle, little bantam bred full of personality. And the boots can be found on the link in the description in this video. I truly do like these boots myself very much!
@@BockBockBouquet we’re could I purchase a rooster like freckles ? An thank you for the link on the boots. I would love to show you a picture off my rooster Einstein but not sure how to. Thank you have a wonderful chicken day💕🎄
I showed my hubby your grazing boxes and yesterday he built me two! Thank you for the wonderful idea! Love you both. I do have a question about what you can plant in them. I put grass seed in the hoed up dirt and it's just laying there after 3 days. Am I dong something wrong in the way I seeded it? Ws I supposed to put hay or something over it? Hlp please. Thank you in advance.
So glad you have some now! It should take longer than 3 days to sprout, keep watering and done give up. We also plant microgreen seeds like broccoli, alfalfa and clover in there for them as well
You guys are the best !! I am stating a second coop/ run just for my pet chickens, how many roosters ( different breeds) can be together? My set up will hold about 15 birds 7:40
Haha yes they are! Adding construction grade sand to the run has helped keep the mud away as it’s very well draining. We are having to constantly clean the waters now as they gross them up and I don’t want the chickens to drink from dirty water. The ducks are still worth all the effort somehow as we love them 😂
Yes we can do that next time we raise ducklings, the easiest way to tell in young ducklings is the male and females voice differ. The males rasp and the females quack. When they are young and voice hasn’t developed if you have the right ear for it you can sort of tell by the way they peep. Also once older the males will get a tail curl but at that point it’s usually obvious with male feather coloring. But the soonest way to tell is by their voice
Our little blue coop is a 5x6ft hen house and we currently have 19 chickens inside but most of them are bantams. Big enough for 15-20 birds that roost in there at night and lay eggs. We have 2 flocks, the other chickens that we have free ranging in our back yards setup is much different
Yes if you follow us on Instagram we post lots of egg photos. Our large breed ducks we eat and sell their eggs and they are delicious and more nutritious than chicken eggs. Some say great for baking. These ducks shown here are bantam call ducks and lay very tiny eggs, we usually try to hatch them as we have breeding pairs and if you can believe it the drakes only mate their other (how do they know! Lol) they are also very rare. The black ducks are East Indies and very hard to come upon, our girl is still very young and not laying yet but we cannot wait for her to lay her first eggs and start trying to hatch her ducklings.
You mentioned you are in So. Cal. In one of your videos. I am a newbie to chickens and bought 10 chicks and one is a rooster. Blue Lace Wyandotte and I can’t keep him where I live. He’s 8 weeks old. Would you like to have him for free. He’s a pet.
Thank you we love them, we have a video of when we got them a new pool, check it out here with this link Call Ducks get a New Pool - Pet Call Ducks Swimming ua-cam.com/video/Yj7c-E8-1No/v-deo.html
We keep our chickens into retirement, as they are pets. Even our oldest chicken at the moment that’s 10 years old still lays actually. She’s a sex link hen
@@beatrixkiddo1578 they are great chickens and very friendly. Just not the best to free range as they can’t see well and are susceptible to aerial attacks. We have ours in enclosed run separate from our free range flock (we have 2 flocks)
Thank you! We have trees/ roofing pannels / plywood. We try to angle our coop so the walls are facing where our wind blows from. Usually we get winds from southwest

Don’t worry it is, everything chickens should have aside from their feed is a treat and in moderation. They get layer feed as their main diet as they are all of egg laying age. Broccoli is an excellent healthy choice for a treat to feed chickens, full of good nutrients, vitamins, and minerals to keep their immune system strong
