When it comes to other religion, Zambia being a Christian state is not a binding law to be imposed on everyone. A provision in the constitution states that everyone has the right to conscious. They have the right to the religion of their linking.
I'm from Zimbabwe and I love our Zambian neighbors although our presidents are currently in a fresh feud 😂😂😂 I think it's over the Victoria falls. We have so much in common and have been very supportive of each other during our economic crisis, Zambia hosted our liberation freedom fighters and current President of Zimbabwe grew up in Zambia
Correction: Kalusha Bwalya didn't die in the plane crash because he was not with the team. In fact, he was head of the Football Association of Zambia in 2012 when the team won the African Cup in Gabon, the country where we lost our team in 1993
Perhaps review an episode or two of the Unapologetic Nomads in Zambia to get more of an on the ground type feel. Or Kino Yves who is currently still cycling through Zambia en route to South Africa. Also Traveltainment Zambia for a more localized experience
Zambia🇿🇲is the most welcoming nation in Africa, the diversity in race is on another level, the warmth of the land is great and when it comes to religion, everyone is free to practice and take part in their religious practices and the food is delicious 👊🌟
Zambia was a hub for liberation movements ie South Africa Nambis, Zimbabwe, Mozambique etc. Housed many African forefathers. They helped many countries gain independence.
I am from the Chewa tribe. He's not lying when he says our tribe is full of Phiri/Banda surnames. You can stand in the middle of the road and scream "good morning Mr Banda/Phiri!" Majority will answer
Yayyy my country, thanks guys!❤ Where to start, I believe because Zambia is landlocked we don't not use many spices in our cooking (that is changing with the new generation), we many have missed out on the ships bringing spices lol but our food is great, especially our snacks like sashilad (ifisashi) sweet potatoes and sample (dried maize) with milk and butter. I have heard you say people have told you Americans over spice your food, I would say Zambia is the opposite, it gave me the ability to enjoy the natural flavours and combinations of food. Which is harder because the food has to speak for itself! Simple but delicious. We are not adventurous with our meat dishes we mainly make stews but we have so many good vegetable dishes. And our fruits! we have soo many unique and tasty fruits. BTW they forgot to mention female boxing in Zambia, I grew up watching so many matches with my family. You asked about religion, the only thing publicly frowned upon, although practiced, is witchcraft. I had a teacher who was a Muslim in high school he used to pray in his classroom, there was no hate just like oh I have never met a Muslim. To me it is rare to meet someone who is not a Christian although that may be different now. I went to school with some Indians and once a Japanese student, no one brought up religion. Zambia is a very peaceful country, I would recommend visiting, especially livingstone it's my favourite place ( and I am from Lusaka).
Am nsenga a sub tribe/language of the chewa people. When it comes to non Christians, we Zambians have been very accepting of other religions and we get along by showing mutual trust and respect.
So we have 2 of the most expensive female players in the world playing in the United States women’s soccer league. These are Barbara Banda (Orlando Pride) and Rachael Kundananji (Bay FC). Please check them out, they are so talented
I love love love my country Zambia, it's a peaceful nation and one of the welcoming country.... So my tribes are Bamba and Tonga, so my dad is Tonga and my mom is a full Bemba, meaning both of her parents are Bemba😊
@@Petals234-w2s The NRC doesn't include ethnic group, only, village, Chief, district and the likes but yeah! He gets his father's name so he's Bemba in that sense🙂 tho he can still claim his ngoni side that's what I meant to say
@Bell-Power190 Yes, he is part Ngoni, and your village, district, and cheif points to your ethnicity. You can know someone's ethnic background by knowing his village, district, and chief. The fact is you are what your father is. It's not me it's the culture 🤷🏾♀️
I’m Zambian and Swaka/Tonga by tribe. We have so many languages I can only speak English, Tonga, Bemba and Nyanja. Just a correction Kalusha Bwalya didn’t die in the plane crush he wasn’t with the team as he was playing abroad.
On soccer and the plane clash that happened in 1993, correction kalusha Bwalya wasn't in the plan and he is still alive. Otherwise, there is more to learn about my country Zambia.
Am a proud Zambia and can tell you what we mean by Christian Nation, the way they views the Middle East countries as Islam, in a similar Zambia maintains the values and nobs of Christianity ✝️ 🇿🇲
It's a christian nation in the sense that it is ruled/governed by christian principles (this is not the same as saying everybody must be a christian.) This is a result of the fact that the zambian majority have chosen to identify themselves as a "God fearing" people. The declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation under God was first made by the second republican president of Zambia, Fredrick Titus Chiluba, and the idea that zambia will be ruled under the spirit of the 10 commandmments found in the bible was reinforced by the 5th president of Zambia, Michael Chilufya Sata. Religious freedom is very much a part of the Zambian constitution. You'll find mosques, Hindu temples and even zambian traditional shrines in Zambia freely open to the public. People are free to practice any religion of their choice openly without rebuke.
Within the families more often than not you find that the wife and children might be believers but the husband not a believer..Same thing with the ìmmediate families. Its why we co exist .very peacefully 😊
Most people are Christians, but other Religions practice freely. Some of my own family is Muslim we have lots of mosques and Hindu temple. Am Tonga by the way....
As much as Zambia is declared a Christian nation, We do have people who practice other religions, like Islam even atheists, though the population doesn't like it when other nations try to politically impose their belief systems on them. The last American Ambassador had to be asked to kindly leave and be replaced due to this
The Christian Nation is a preamble and not in the constitution, everyone has a right to choose his/her own religion. But much of us are Christians, the good part about Zambians is that, as long as you are peaceful and Loving we will show you care as taught by our founding father Dr. David Kenneth Kaunda, our motto is One Zambia One Nation, we don't discriminate. Peace!!🤗

Its actually over governance. Zambia feels that Munangagwa is not democratic and rigged elections

Fun fact , Zambian Player Babra Banda is actually the top scorer and best player in the NWSL women's league in the USA.
