I use flangers in my productions and mixes. It's the best time-based effect
As one of the four people, I appreciate this.
Flanger on guitar pick scratching. HI hats can be fun too. Like the singing in the opening, how 'bout Bohemian Rhapsody next time, ha! thanks for the vid
Yep a big fan of flanging here. I use it in music mixing on occasion but my day job is sound effect design for film and games where flanging is great for creating movement. There aren’t many really good ones that I’ve found so I’ll have to give this a look. I’m more interested in the modulation and delay parts of this suite TBH.
This was the funniest episode so far.......Tip: I would love to see a thorough flanger shootout.
This is what i call an intro ... 👍👍
flanging on EDM in combination with a white noise riser/deriser is really good
Already own the UA tape machine plugins. All I need. If I need a flanger I will plug one in. I already own a couple. Cannot say there is a lot of demand for it. Same for chorus. I already have plenty of tape delays and another just creates option paralysis. As a fan of tape period I sure wouldn’t spend more money on one that sounds shite when using the tape machine emulation. Never heard of it so learned something else not to waste time on. Thanks gentlemen.
I literally left after this for the studio and started flanging a vocal in protest. Eventide Instant Flanger if you must know..
I use the flanger as an old-fashioned psychedelic effect!
I have only used phaser and flanger on one song ever. The drummer specifically requested one for his toms and the other for his snare, during a drum solo.
Never before, never since
I am right there with u on these, I liked the three u liked enough to buy it, but I think I still prefer ik space echo to the uvi, but I am not sure yet. I think the tape effect is supposed to be more of a video game style effect not sure.
I got the Tape Suite on discount with vouchers from UVI...they are fine. I use them more for sound design than mixing anything. uHe Satin is still king of the tape emulators.
Always liked a subtle flange effect on doubled guitars, my 5 cents :)
I luvs a bit of French Flange I does ... 🙄
I usually look to BLEASS for it. 😉
Nothin against UVI - Falcon is brilliant,
I used flanges in my mixes. As a recording guitar player I prefer to add all these kinds of FX later in the mix so I have full control over them, rather than baking anything into the recording. Not all flanges are created equal. Just coz Dan doesn't use them doesn't mean they don't get used and aren't valuable. It's not something I am reaching for all the time, but there are times when I want it.
As someone with nil experience in studios full of analog gear, I don’t have a good grasp of what tape really ought to sound like. Unless we’re talking cassette tape 👍 So I appreciate your take on the Color plugin, Sean. UVI usually make really great stuff - their Falcon sampler is absolutely king and there are tons more worthwhile UVI plugins. I just don’t need more chorus, delay and flanging. Not tape emulation either, for that matter. A bit shit.
Deal breaker if the actual tape sound is bad.
I use flangers on melodies but it’s very rare
Correct me if I'm wrong but Dan was done with this plugin before Sean even started...lol. UVI's Opal is amazing but this one seems half-baked. Oversampling should make it sound better.
Oh I wonder how that compares to UHE SATIN - thats my tape fx of choice for a while now :)
Im sure Satin beats this hands down as it’s one of the best tape emulations out there.
Satin is better for mixing into...the Tape Suite has more options for sound design.
IK Multimedia's emulation of the TEAC 6100 MKII does analog tape simulation lovely. Baby Audio's TAIP comes a close 2nd. I will pass on this one.
UPDATE: I will also add to use AberrantDSP's Sketch Cassette II for those tape effects that are in this UVI Tape Suite already.
No, you don't.
@@BukanIbuMu 😂
Stoped the video.. No Flang. If i go back to my mixes for the 90s when i did use glanger i was man thats shit. PS. im tired as heel im leaing all my typos in this post. I hope this triggers you after last weeks Is it Shit!!! i cant get the Child Catcher out of my head... LOL Good Show man..
@@TheMixClub 😂
Yes, you do.
never a flange
Good show like always. But I'm just as disgusted as Dan. What's the point of this? Bollocks. If you need a serious tape emulation with tape delay, flanger, compander circuit with different noise reduction encodings use UHE Satin. This thing can do pretty much everything you need. If you need it. It's a brilliant piece of software.

The download was probably 1.99gb hence why color sounded like shit.
pass.
this one really is shit. no hemming and hawing necessary
