- Builds can get crazy sometimes!! But it doesn’t get more excited than building the Legendary Chevrolet LS1 V8 motor into a Iconic Toyota Hilux right here in the mother land of South Africa !!! In this video we take a look at this crazy engine swop build by Get In Gear Engine & gearbox Importers
The sound of a V8 has always been mesmerising to listen to, the pure roar from the inside out has always been a great feeling. But to get it from a Toyota Hilux is even more special because it is soo unexpected.
As a company that deals in selling engines and gearboxes they should have given a general estimate of the price they retail the LS1 engines and similar engines so the people watching can have a general idea of the costs compared to say a UZ build or JZ build

Depends on your budget, the lower the budget, the more reliant on favours, the more time to complete the build. Money talks, higher budgets make all stages of the swap a priority for all the stakeholders, and if parts are needed, you would be able to get them express shipped or fabricated in a timely fashion. But in general with a modest budget and excellent planning, expect a 2 month build, with general planning expect a 6-12 month build, a low budget and bad planning will earn you a lifelong project that even once built will constantly need tweaking and will be in and out of the garage...
I would definitely build a 2jz hilux or a rotary motor from a mazda Rx7❤
