    Thanks for the video. Very informative. Didn’t miss a step. I’m gonna install one in a week and appreciate your detail.

      Thank you for the kind comment. I just installed the same radio in my Highlander but was too lazy to video. Glad you found the F150 version helpful.

    Joe if you recall, the ground wire you mention at the 42:10 mark, was it a part of the T-harness? My instructions from Crutchfield for the same radio HU, to my '16 F150 (not retaining Sync), do not mention a ground wire being tied to chassis ground. Also, did you do anything with the light green wire for the e-brake?

    • @FloridaJoe3
      @FloridaJoe3  8 місяців тому

      It looks like it was part of the T-harness or something that came from Crutchfield because it had a "GROUND" label on it. You might look at the cabling schematic and see if it's mentioned. I don't remember an e-brake wire, so I guess I didn't do anything with it. Good luck to you with your install.

    So what happens if you skip all the fancy module stuff? No steering wheel controls?

    • @FloridaJoe3
      @FloridaJoe3  Місяць тому

      I didn't skip it on either of my cars but I believe you do have to do it to get steering wheel controls.

    Holy cow that's alot of crap to do to install a radio. I think I'll have a shop do this for my truck. Thanks for the video

      I actually enjoyed this bit of truck work since it didn't involved any grease or grime. 🤓

    Just ordered one getting best buy to install it I dont like that my truck looks nice n all that but ford makes u get higher trim levels for better radio with big screen n what not

      I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do. The old 3.5" screen was just about worthless for my old eyes.

    Joe - really well done. Do you have the list of parts anywhere to post? Why recreate the wheel I say!! If I were Crutchfield I would hire you.

      @@dawndavid1670 Yes, Crutchfield kind of makes sure you order all that you need. You can order all the extras as a package with your head unit and it saves a little money. Good luck with yours.

      Hmm...I don't remember running into that kind of trouble. A typical IT guy would ask if you tried rebooting. I hope you were able to get it. I have these radios in both my cars now and love them.

    I would of put gps inside of dash. Otherwise looks good, great job

    • @FloridaJoe3
      @FloridaJoe3  10 місяців тому

      That is an excellent idea. I didn't realize it at the time but I'm never using that GPS. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think my phone GPS is doing all my Google maps work. I put the GPS inside the dash when I installed the same Pioneer unit in my Highlander and it works just fine. So, yes, hide the GPS receiver. On a similar, note, I hid the microphone inside the dash under the steering column and that has not been good. My wife said she could barely hear me the other day when I called. I need to move it somewhere else.

      @James-dp4ye 10 місяців тому

      @@FloridaJoe3 run the microphone cable under dash and out along door piller. It will hook on top of the plastic housing of door piller/windshield piller. You can hide cord in ruber molding going up around door. If that makes sense to ya

    Looks like we have the same configuration factory radio which is the 4.3 inch screen and a sync 3.
    I just completed my installation based on your video and it went perfectly. I could not retain the factory USB down below to charge my phone. I think it has to do with that little micro USB that we disconnected and could not connect anywhere else. Also I noticed two places to connect the antenna one that was in the sync and one that was in the factory radio. Finally I lost my moving lines in the backup camera when I turn the steering wheel. Are you also experiencing this?

    • @FloridaJoe3
      @FloridaJoe3  2 роки тому

      Thank you for commenting Mohamed. I'm glad it went well for you. I believe the moving lines on backup may be configurable. Check the settings on your radio head unit and let us know what you find.

    • @MohamedANegm
      @MohamedANegm 2 роки тому

      @@FloridaJoe3 you’re right the lines did come back after I messed around in the settings, also the factory USB is down but I replaced it with the other USB from the head unit and it works like a charm all in all $1,100 was way better than the $2,500 I was quoted from car toys.

      @@MohamedANegm Fantastic. So glad you got everything working. I love my new head unit. We just took a trip to Florida and having the google maps right on my dashboard was so nice. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Thank you for the view and comments.

      If you go the Maestro+FTR1 route the factory USB down below should be retained and allows you to play media files (.mp3 files). According to crutchfield's list of retained features. The factory USB is connected to Ford Sync, while the new USB and HDMI ports on FTR1 bezel is plugged into Pioneer's back panel.

      You can do it! You just have to CAREFULLY follow the instructions. But I certainly see your point, installing a radio ain't what it used to be. (sigh)
