How do you set you slings/chokers up if your attached to the ball with your lanyard. I normally stay tied in to the crane till after I set my chokers. of course there no this how I do it 100% the time every tree/job is different but a lot of time I use 3 attachment points so the piece is balanced staying tied into the crane makes it a lot easier to get the line/ball centered on your pick plus you can’t move the line easier being tied to it if your slightly short on a hooking up a choker. After I hooked up chokers then il go to where I’m going to cut an retie into the tree unhooking from the crane. But basically I’m just wondering do you do that an just use landyard for the ride up or do you tie into the tree before setting your chokers. I understand being tied in twice is better but if your goin to unhook the landyard line an be on only climb line once your at the top why bother using the landyard on The way up. I normally just use the climb line is that not proper? I’m asking cause I don’t now in most likely I’m goin do what I do away iv done a ton of crane work an im kinda set In my ways lol but I like to no other ppl thoughts maybe I’m missing something an it easier I’m stuck in my ways till it makes my life easier lol
“Designed for vertical restraint” you’re using a unicender for your lanyard! Wouldn’t it make more sense to use the zig zag for the lanyard since the unicender is for mrs and srs.
Yeah, there's the stupid OSHA, which tries to control everyone's life while making work more time consuming, more expensive, and in many cases, more dangerous. Thankfully they don't enforce against business owners for the risks they personally take as long as their employees follow all the rules. ANSI by the way, unlike OSHA, is a private organization whose rules are voluntary unless adopted by OSHA.
I miss the old days of just clipping into the ball, one crane company i use occasionally will still let me
Interested in how he attaches those braces to his harness (saddle)
Is that crane sling available for purchase?

$400 rope grab. Thompson Tree Tools makes a mini version of the unicender specially for lanyards. “Hipster” I believe.

If you're worried about it disconnecting you probably should put some work on the ball before taking pics
it looks like one of his steel carabiners is not properly closed.. well thats what redundancy is for, i guess.
Choppers!
Isn’t it illegal to tie in above the Becket?

No
Thats not a becket and side loading a carabiner is not acceptible period. The load is not a factor.
Then the crane falls over.
