The heavy carry obstacles usually don't make people do burpees. Unless you're doing the Palmerton Spartan. They had so many people quit during the sand bag carry, they ran out of bags.
Rules have changed in the last few years. But Spartan had the option of burpees in Lee of tire flips and Carrie’s if it was too much. The main point is that they are not so challenging that they should be a concern. So focus your training on what challenges you the most.
Spartan Super at Big Bear in May - I wouldnt have chosen that one as my first one but somehow my cousin, who does these every year believes I can do it...so...uuuuh...we will see, lol. 🙃
Hi James, i've discovered your channel now. I'm 37yo and i've stopped working out in 2016. now after 8 years i've started in march 2024 to workout again and i've discovered crossfit which i love. i always asked myself how people like you reach those levels. it incredible to think that you guys was beginners too at some point. next year i'll do some spartan and hyrox races. do you have any advice for me? i know that i'm a little bit too old to start now, but better now than never i guess
You’re never too old to start. My number 1 suggestion would be to start easy and progress a little each month . Don’t do too much too quickly, the best results come from consistent efforts over an extended period of time. Run easy 3-4 times a week, hit the weights once or twice a week, and try to do one pretty intense effort every week. Do this and you’ll be crushing OCR and HYROX courses before you know it. Thanks for watching and let us know how you progress.
@@RunningwithJames thank you for the advices. Between family with 2 kids and work it's hard to do a lot of workout and with crossfit i already do high intensity training 3/4 times per weeke. I guess i have to start to add running too. Anyway thank you again for the reply and your support, i hope to achieve something I can be proud of in 2025
My favorite shoe for trails and OCR is the Speedland SLPDX . The shoe literally can do it all and is super customizable. Check out the full review. ua-cam.com/video/n5zhVJAU12g/v-deo.html
Not sure I understand your comment. Are you saying I didn't provide tips for OCR? Or that the thumbnail has a strong , good looking guy that entices people to click on the video?
Signed up for Spartan Sprint, Tough Mudder and Wolf Run next year. Depending how I get on, going to attempt the Spartan Trifecta for 2024.
