I was so lucky to see the older Gene in concert not long b4 he passed & oh boy wasn't I glad I did coz I had no idea he would leave us at only 66 which is way too early really. He was wonderful too by the way, a great concert & he sang all his big hits sounding exactly the same. Thanks to UA-cam we can continue to watch him as well as hear him. He is sadly missed 😔.
I was a senior in high school, couldn't wait for my parents to go somewhere so I could play my records, was so in love with Gene and this song. I'm 71 now, I blinked and time just flew by. But this song still does it for me.
I FIRST HEARD GENE PITNEY WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL. LUVED HIM. I CANT BELIEVE I ONLY DISCOVERED THE SONG "WALK" ABOUT A MONTH AGO. BEEN LISTENING TO IT ABOUT 30 TIMES A DAY. GOD BLESS YOUR BEAUTIFUL SOUL GENE
tree top a really great song. He didn’t get nearly half the credit he deserved. His voice was a one-of-a-kind instrument. I have loved him forever. RIP
@@jenniferkay4038 I saw him in person in Toronto Ontario many years ago, it was a great show. I would suggest to you to an album Gene did with Country singer George Jones, in the 60's, it is an amazing album, I'll admit at the time I was perplexed with that possible duo, but being a fan of both I gave it a listen and liked every song on it.
@@barrygioportmorien1 Barry I had almost all UK releases, including this. I particularly remember the the chilling one about the crash on the highway... (but I didn't hear nobody pray). But two completely different voices worked for that one album. How great that all these years later, Gene's music is bringing people together from all over the world - he'd have loved that.
God, what a pleasure to hear again. Despite growing up to some of his lesser-known songs (as well as the well-known classics), I had forgotten this one. I've had a couple of Gene's greatest hits compilations sitting in my CD rack for about 10 years, gathering dust. This song got me to take another look at those disks and rediscover other "lost" gems like "Who Needs It?", "Lips Are Redder on You," "Yesterday's Hero" and "Shady Lady." Despite at one time having a 3 1/2-octave range, I could never sing all the way through his stuff because it was too high for me, even as a kid. I think I know what my next project is. Thanks for uploading this one, and for making sure no one forgets how gifted a person he really was.
I have never heard this song before, but will now add it to my favourite Gene Pitney song list. Stillness and sadness fill my heart even today whenever one of his songs is played.
I remember this one! Gene Pitney was one of the best. I was so, so lucky to have a big sister and aunts who loved to listen to pop music and rock 'n roll. Thanks to them and to my parents I've been happily listening to all sorts of music since I was 4-years-old.
New song to me and I've been a fan since 1960s so thank you for this. Gene had perfect intonation, every word in every song is so clear. A sadly missed talent but he left a legacy of recordings that will delight fans for years, thank you so much for posting this on UA-cam xxx
cj - I could only find that this song was on his "It Hurts to Be in love" LP in 1964. No release on a 45 at least in the U.S. Does anyone know if it was released in other countries as a single?
What a. Great Gene Pitney song. With all the great songs in his collection, I have to add this one for sure. Great songs but often Forgotten, true words...I promise to remember this one in the future...MK 2020
I used to listen to Gene Pitney during my teens and never heard this one. Great song. Maybe I was too busy buying Roy Orbison's new songs that came out almost every second month. Now that I've been listening to Gene these past few days, I now realized that he was just as good as Roy.
My feelings exactly, suzyq. Have you listened to Gene's version of "Crying"? Excellent version . . . Gene seems to be able to hold the high notes a bit longer than Roy BUT this is still one of Roy's signature songs along with "Pretty Woman". They are both my favorite male artists of all-time!
Edie Gorme Blame it on the boss nova sound a like. Great putting never heard before. He did no bad sounds. Was Mr 60s and sound did not transfer to later decades
I remember this from the sixties., was it on the I must be seeing things album that you first showed on your upload. ? Thank you very much, I had quite forgotten it !
Making my Saturday night …. Gene you were sooooo handsome and what a beautiful voice …. Left us too soon … jealous how you will be serenading the angels …. But your right beside me tonight !!! 👏👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰🎶🎶🎶🏴 I’m a teenager again !!! thank you.. hate tho how the records were so short way back then …😊
THE ONLY CASSETTE I OWNED AS A CHILD WAS GENES GREATEST HITS...PEOPLE LAUGHED A LOT..I STILL HAVE IT OVER 25 YEARS LATER IT WILL BREAK BEFORE IT EVER GETS OLD
