Your playing skills, sound designing abilities along with your infectious personality are a recipe for magic. Absolute magic. Keep the videos coming. Respect
As someone who does a lot of remakes I've never thought of looping a tiny segment of a song in order to help match the exact voicing of a chord! Nice, I'm going to use this trick from now on
Man… when you do your “magic” i’m totally enchanted. You know everything from where is originally from… and then how it’s carved out to the actual sound! It’s “sound design” perform Art just before the final result! You are a beast Man!
Near the end of the song during the last chorus ("put your pinky rings up to the..") there's a little descending chromatic bass line played in octaves. My band members and I always fight about which direction the octaves go: high to low or low to high. Bass players seem to prefer the high note first but the keyboard players play the low note first (which I believe is correct.) If you walk that bass line down the keys, your thumb will land on "moon" perfectly.
If Bruno Mars would be so kind to drop his Doctor Mix face mask and reveal his identity. 🙂 Always a pleasure watching real musicians doing their magic. Kudos Claudio!
Damn! that funky bassline and fat lead take me back to a better time. 80's funk and dance rules!! Kudos to both Bruno and you Doctor Mix, for sharing the nostalgic love.
Amazing Claudio, you are incredibly talented. I love how you break songs down and show exactly how they can be replicated. The amount of experience you must have under your belt to be able to assess the foundation of a professionally engineered song is something magical to watch.
You said it right Claudio: Bruno MARS is one of the best of todays music! MJ is forever first, but B. Mars is on the Top 5!!! I love the song "Finesse"!
13:28 That's the DYNACORD ADD-one "Advanced Digital Drums" rack module from around 1986. It's some sort of drum sampler with trigger input jacks for drum pads. It's usually complemented by the DYNACORD ADD-drive "Advanced Sampler and Disk Drive" to unfold its full potential.
19:49 --> If I'm not mistaken they used a Juno 106 for the synth stabs. How frikkin' cool is that? A multi-million dollar triple platina hit and they used a ''humble'' Juno 106 from 1984 for a hit song in 2016. Just love it 😍
Claudio, this was amazing. Just seeing how you recreate the sounds was like watching a kid play and a pro work at the same time, in harmony. That improvisation at the end was the cherry on the top. Just wow...
It amazes me how these old disco sounds still sound fresh to this day and how your body will involutarily move to it... Something in the sound has to trigger this involuntary movement
I am a big fan o Doctor Mix. One suggestion that I would make is to recreate the instrumental by just listening to the original song itself instead of the tracks of the song, just like you did with Around the World by Daft Punk. You are so talented that it is much more interesting watching you being able to identify every instrument on the song just by listening to it. That is why Around the World went viral, in my opinion. Seeing you recreate the song just by using your ears, being able to single out each instrument and make a beautiful song a the end is a magical experience. Keep up with the amazing work!!! 😀
Hi ! I'm Brazilian and Music Producer !! Congratulations for the tutorial!! Very nice of you to unveil the timbres used in this beautiful song by Bruno Mars !! Hope to see more videos like this!!
Claudio -you sir are EXTREMELY talented. I can't imagine the thousands of hours you have put into your craft. You deserve all the success you are achieving! Kudos!
@ghost mall Ah yeah, that was a peach too.. watching it again now!! I loved the sound palette in this one... all my favourite machines in one jam!! Linn, DMX, Juno, Moog... You really can't go wrong!!
The way you deconstructed that chord with the open chord guitar, and looping the original audio to identify better the harmonics of the chord used....colour me impressed
how have you not hit like 10 million subscribers yet? it's beyond me...so talented. been following for years and the videos just keep getting better lol how!?
I guess when you play synth keyboard as much as Dr. Mix these sounds must become very familiar, that was really neat how you made the bass. Great cover of the original. I recreated Van Halen Jump with your preset from the AX but i still cannot get that guitar solo perfect haha. I might never get it.
You make music look so fun again, which it is. The joy of finding that one sound, super inspiring. If i’d have a suggestion for a recreation it would have to be “Electric Feel” by MGMT!
Doctor Mix - this video makes me so happy! You made my whole week stuck at my computer seem all worth it to think one day soon I might be able to get to one-tenth your level of funky geek awesomeness. Never stop never stopping!
Dr Mix always manages to delve into the heart of a song, deconstruct it and achieve a faithful reproduction time after time complete with authentic 'dialled in' sounds, effects the whole lot. The songs' Producer Jeff Bhasker would really rate this for sure.. Absolutely amazing😎.
I thought to myself... 'Lets give this a quick watch.... and before I knew it... I was HOOKED!!' Absolutely FANTASTIC! Bravo!!! And thank you so much for reigniting my enthusiasm!! 🤘
@@Doctormix I'm trying to survive this heatwave in Greece !! 😂 I also hope you are well, I keep watching your videos and try to become a producer. Still a long way to go but I love the process ❤ Sending positive energy and wish you the best! 😊 Get to 1M subs soon!!
This is just AMAZING, Claudio you’re not human J’adore le solo à la fin sur le Rhodes, don’t stop making these videos please, definitely looking forward to playing with you
That cover is spot on! Now I finally know what that flexatone instrument is. I’d never seen it before, didn’t really know what kind of instrument it was.
But... excuse me, @Doctor Mix, for this Bruno Mars style guitar-synth layering you may also use (or purchase one, if you don’t have it) a Roland GR-20 to control the synth directly from the guitar, if you like that sound layering!
Fantastic recreation. Experience really pays off. Love the celebrations when you nail it! I'd love to see more of these but they clearly take a lot of effort. Thank you anyway!
Golden ears and Big Heart, thé right combo, man! I love then your impro moods on thé Rhodes, you are just too maaaddd!!! Thank you Brother for your work and your precious sharings!
Whole album is amazing! “Versace on the Floor” is pure production ear-candy in the choruses
But what did you think of Dr. mix’s work here? 🙄
@@chezchezchezchez Great! Nexxxxxxt
Everything Bruno does is magic.
It was uncanny how quickly you were able to dial in that bass line on that ancient Minimoog! You definitely know your way around that thing!
Ancient?!? It's one of the best pieces of gear in the whole studio
Your playing skills, sound designing abilities along with your infectious personality are a recipe for magic. Absolute magic. Keep the videos coming. Respect
For sure! Don’t forget the filming/editing/production side!
As someone who does a lot of remakes I've never thought of looping a tiny segment of a song in order to help match the exact voicing of a chord! Nice, I'm going to use this trick from now on
As a software dev, I instantly thought of a neat little Fourier transformation to reveal the secrets ☺
Man… when you do your “magic” i’m totally enchanted. You know everything from where is originally from… and then how it’s carved out to the actual sound! It’s “sound design” perform Art just before the final result! You are a beast Man!
no pun intended

Fair play, that's some serious talent you've got there. Not just picking out a sample, but actually moulding a sound from scratch. Amazing.

loved the improv at the end!

This is masterful Dr. Mix! 24K is an amazing cut (the whole production). Your ear never ceases to amaze me! ;)

It's a combination of different drums. It's a DMX, Linndrum, and live instruments
Arguably the best one so far!!! 10 / 10

I'm so glad i found you on the net....you easily represent one of the most accomplished content on UA-cam :)
it´s more than "Earth Wind and Fire" but great new stuff
but the BASS...speechless...LOVE IT....and nothing without a "Rhode-Session"....
how have you not hit like 10 million subscribers yet? it's beyond me...so talented. been following for years and the videos just keep getting better lol how!?
You make things were easy but they are not. Great job man!
and the trick with looping the short note... GENIUS!!! Definitely going to use that!
We're all here for that funky sound!
wow! a real Moog and jupiter! I love the warm sounds.
The final solo is perfect 😌👌🏻
I enjoy it so much to see this guy having so much fun doing what he loves. Awesome!

here for the Moog bassline - friggin NAILED IT
Pretty damn good. I'd say one difference I hear is the panning of bruno's mix on the arpeggio going down and it's panning right ear to left ear.
The lil' jam at the end is just amazing 😍😍
