  • I lay out the two main styles of ring I make, one using only a single piece of wire and one using two pieces, one thick for the frame and one thin to hold the stone or stones tight and secure.
    Beginning wire wrapping tools:
    Basic Pliers Set - amzn.to/3mm4Rgp
    20 gauge silver plated wire - amzn.to/3vP4EFu
    20 gauge antique copper wire - amzn.to/3BncsQa
    18 gauge wire - amzn.to/3Bge3qU
    Earring hooks - amzn.to/2XVgYaW
    Necklace cords - amzn.to/3Gt2Oiu
    I may receive a small reward if you purchase with these links.

    You just gave me a really good idea - After watching your "Chunky Funky Rings" Video, I started working on them. There are a few that I am less-than-satisfied with. Now that you mention taking another piece of wire and improving them, it makes a lot of sense. I have one Labradorite ring that I'm very happy with, so I can use that as a source of embellishment for the others. There are some other pieces that I want to re-do, pendants in particular. Thanks, as always!!

    Hi Matt!! Awesome tutorial!! I learned so much from you. I always forget about my german style wire. I even have it in patterns. I have a rotating vise that clamps to my table which I use to hold my ring mandrel when making rings. It makes it so much easier. Thanks so much for sharing your tips and tricks! 🖒🖒🖒👏👏💜💜 much love and hugs to you!! Melissa Doucette from Florida

    ruzy is the glittering effect of tiny crystals over top a colorful mineral. It is beautiful when used in making jewelry. One of the perks to druzy stones is that they are not as expensive as big faceted gemstones and they have sparkle and great color and it can be cut into various shapes with ease.

    Since I am from Germany originally, my favorite part was when you used the German silver wire. Where do you purchase it, what brand is it and do you drill the holes in stones you use yourself? Lots of questions today. Love your work!

    • @MattsCrazyArt
      @MattsCrazyArt  5 років тому +6

      Thanks Car- men, I don't know the origin of the name German silver. I just know the company that supplies my wire told me it was a mixture of 3 metals and was non-tarnish like stainless steel so it never needs to be polished and will never turn other colors.

      Leopard1inSC, everywhere. Strands of stones or beads are at almost every art or craft store and if you prder online, make sure the picture shows a hole or a string going through the stone. Adding the word "bead" in your description usually ensures there's a hole. "Caboshons" typically do NOT have holes.

    Matt, couldn't you drill a larger hole in the pre-drilled stone?

    • @MattsCrazyArt
      @MattsCrazyArt  5 років тому +3

      Theoretically, but drilling through stone is very tricky. You could break the stone or ruin your bit if you don't do it right.
