I have three Coleman lanterns an light them the same way .It cuts down on soot build up on burner, glass globe an ventilator cap.I’ve seen where some collectors are obsessed with doing a complete tear down when it is not really necessary yet. If it lights up fairly well an stabilizes 2or4mins then turn into a constant brightness you are good to go .If it’s not broke don’t fix it!!! Part of the fun owning these vintage lanterns are learning each ones lighting characters!!!
ive got one just like it i did a video on it i got it from my wifes father he was a retired marine and brought home after the war i havent lit it up yet wasnt sure what kind of fuel to put in it what kind did you use i may fire it up thanks for sharing
Thank you, I got em on ebay, I have 2 now. The speaker I got of some online site, shipped from Britain. Some custom made speaker. I have a video somewhere on my UA-cam showing it.
I broke the fuel valve stem online as it was froze and apparently and I didn't realize how much pressure I was putting on it. I'm not sure how to fix this. You have any advice?
AFTER U HEAR THE GURGLE TURN IT OFF AND PUT FIRE UP AND DOWN THE GENERATOR STEM IT SHOULD CATCH... EVEN WHEN ITS TURNED OFF BECAUSE U PUT FUEL IN IT WHEN U TURNED IT ON 1/4" IT SHOULD JUST GLOW WITH NO FIRE, THEN U CAN TURN IT BACK ON.

That looks to be a swapped in burner frame and globe. Military lanterns have a 4 piece globe, still a nice lantern...
This video helped me with my lantern. Again, thank you.
Very cool. Thank you for posting.
When in doubt, you can't go wrong with Coleman fuel.

led8541 use naphthalene (aka Coleman fuel)
These will also run on unleaded just fine
Where did you get your Geiger counter? that looks like a nice one and I like the side speaker

What is the "fuel valve stem" ? I have fixed as of tonight over 100 Coleman lanterns and might be able to help you
