- In today's video, I net inside the green slime ponds at the abandoned fish store, and I was SHOCKED at what I caught! We ended up finding some CRAZY fish living inside these ponds, like electric blue African cichlids, blue crawfish, albino tilapia, redtail catfish, AND MORE! 10,000 likes and ill go back and buy all of the cichlids!

@@rorschachgotnicemask9449 Exactly. There are plants in all of the ponds, producing oxygen. The fish all look really healthy. Cleaning the ponds would do more harm than good.

As someone who worked as a fish/reptile manager at a pet store, let me tell you how cool it was to see the assortment of guppies in that pond. Platinums, Blue Neons, Tuxedos, Emeralds, all species I could never get ordered in because during covid and whatnot, people basically stopped international shipping. I am SO jelly hahaha

Why do pet stores throw out live animals in the dumpster? Mainly fish, reptiles and smaller rodents. That’s soo unfair. At least if they are not worthy of being sold because it’s sick or injured or whatever the reason. Give them to someone, I guarantee there are people that will take them and try to help them. If it’s no hope it’s going to die anyways, like any living thing it deserves respect in its last moments and to not be disposed of while still alive

@@iCazZiStronZi I can only speak from my own experience. The petstore I worked at kept all bodies of any animals that passed while in our care (yes, including the fish). They were documented and at the end of every month, the bodies were taken to a vet clinic we were partnered with so they could dispose of the remains properly. I don't know about all pet stores, but that's how petland handles in-store passing. As per anything that was sick, the same vet clinic took care of the animals and if necessary, they would he euthanized in worst case. But a lot of animals if they'd gotten sick, could be taken care of by the staff. I fostered a hedgehog once 😊
I can only hope my 3 year old son maintains his love of fish the way you do. It simply adorable how excited you and Dakota get with discovery fish 🐠. Keep the adventures spirit alive. It’s truly a pleasant thing to watch.
Honestly I think you should help them out! They’ve got a lot of great fish and other animals, and that place could be a really amazing store with some care. The guys working there seem very determined to get this up and running again, and seem like genuine good people.

@@jasonhollis5916 exactly. The 'weeds' are aquatic plants and the 'algae' is helping filter the water. This might not be the best place, but they're breeders. The fish aren't abandoned.

That makes 2 of us. He said 10k likes on last vid and he would save them. He got the likes and today he ignored them. Bobby needs to get back and help those poor fishes.

Are you sure it's abandoned if they are buying new fishes and if there is workers?
At this rate you will own every single fish in the place, but bigger issue can you handle that many and not have them die from over crowding.

My theory is because the water is so dark and murky that the fish make themselves brighter in color

Try not to act too excited (especially about the fish u really like). The guys will pick up on it and raise the price (I mean as compared to ones u kinda like.. even though they're super pretty oh my gosh!)

Apparently theyre unaware cause they recently bought the place so they dont know what the past owers were selling

They bought the place that used to be a pet store to turn it into a zoo! So they didnt put the fish in there or sell those fish, the past owners did.

Cichlids and crawfish are Beautiful but would be nice if the owner would do water changes on the ponds kind of feel sorry for the fishies living conditions
Hey, just saw your vid on saving fish in the mud and I wanted to suggest some gum boots (ideally knee high) for your next trip. They aren't expensive and will save you from ants and are completely waterproof so you can walk into the water without worrying about getting muddy.

I love how the owner in the first video said, that they want to get rid of all and would rather sell them, but then asap goes and buys Japanese koi....

I got the impression most of the fish were leftovers from the previous owners, with the new owners wanting to focus on larger pond fish, which would explain why they don't seem to know what's in the ponds, and why they wanted to get rid of the small aquarium species, but wanted to keep the big catfish and are getting more koi.
I had a tank of electric yellow f1 and f2 cichlids. The tank was 150 gallons and they were constantly breeding. We has horn snails in the tank and only had to do water changes twice a year, the water was crystal clear. The snails ate any waste fron the fish and the fish ate the snails and kept them under control. It was a perfect balance.

im guessing that the single celled algae is eating up all the nitrates and oxygenating the water. also it provides shelter for the fish so they can hide and not be stressed out all the time.
Exactly. My guess is this is a breeding facility. The ponds aren't there for people to watch the fish. They aren't slim filled and the fish aren't abandoned. The place may not be the best but it's a bit harsh to paint it as if they've abandoned the fish in disgusting water.

If there was something big and aggressive in there, the amount of fish fry seen in this video simply wouldn't exist...
The fact that there is a catfish in there is testament to the pond being its own closed ecosystem where there is a good balance. Either there are tonnes of places for the fry to hide in there or the catfish is doing a pretty good job at rationing its food. some how, some way, all these fish are co-existing even if 99% of the fish are basically food for the catfish. Its probably the only predator in there.
Comeback in a year or two's time and check the pond again. Either the catfish has eaten everything, grown to silly proportions and starved to death or everything would be exactly the same as you left it (except the catfish being bigger)
I think the fish produce enough fry to keep the catfish fed and the circle of life going. Adding another predator in there will highly likely ruin the balance.

I dont know where this place is and i dont know how long the place has been left untouched/abandoned or if the fish were thrown in a few hours ago just to make it look like the boys came across something epic (i hope not, but there are plenty of people on UA-cam that will set videos up like these for the views)*
Not trying to throw shade. But I fish primarily for perch and pike and I know these things will chase lures if given the opportunity because i have seen it with my own eyes.
