Anything is possible if you train but believing in your training is more important. I started running at age 60 and overweight by 60 pounds. Got myself in better shape, ran some 5ks, then 10’ks then half marathons. Didn’t do a marathon till 2 years after starting and completed 6, but I wanted more, so I trained for a 50k which had 4,000 feet of elevation which I completed in 6 hours 34 minutes. I was hooked. I’ve now done 12 complete 50ks, 2 complete 50 milers and one 100K to date and now I’m 69…not stopping now.
Great message. Do you post any videos. I'm 76. On 8/1/19I weighed 216. I always walked for exercise but decided to build up to two hours a day. Diet wise I just watch the fat. The goal for 2021 was 2021 miles. I accomplished that the monday after thanksgiving. No surprise the goal for this year is 2022 miles which I'm on target to complete well before the end of the year. I now weigh 136. So far so good. I'd like to see some videos from guys more my age. I might try jogging again. Anyway. Great post.
AMAZING! I will run an Ultra during this lifetime! I’m training for my 1st Half Marathon coming up in September! One step at a time 😊 Thank you for the Inspiration!
I feel you Benjamin! I’m currently chasing completing a full ironman. As a doc filmmaker, I’m always inspired by stories of overcoming adversity. This year I’ll be making a film about running the Chicago Marathon 🙏🏼
His support system is so beautiful to watch. Hard to imagine how some people are blessed to have such wonderful people supporting them. Beautiful indeed.
Watching you accomplish this goal was extremely inspiring. I am currently training for my very first 26.2! Hopefully in 15 weeks I can come back here and tell you that I completed my first marathon. Thank you for posting this awesome journey and I wish you the best in the future.
The moment you make the decision that you are either finishing, or leaving on a stretcher, when the decision is really made, it is still hard. But it becomes simple. Take another step. If you don't fall over, take another. If you fall over and can get up. Take. Another. Step. It's hard. Also very simple.
This was awesome. My mom is my crew at all my races and the part with your parents crewing made me smile. Hugging my mom at the end of my first 100 was one of the greatest moments of my life.
All the feels. I couldn't agree with you more. You definitely aren't the only one making sacrifices to toe the line at these events so having family there makes the moment that much sweeter.
Hey, I know so many people in this doc! I'm a fellow Grand Slammer (2019) and I think the GF (who crewed my slam) and I will have to give this a full watch later. Wonderful to see this great sport getting the exposure it deserves!
I love it! Ultra is still such a new sport & there really hasn’t been a lot of media exposure for it. That was one of the many goals of this documentary. Thanks for commenting & I hope you enjoy the film!
I paced my buddy at Leadville last year and will be again this year. What an awesome and absolutely driven group of people. Congratulations on the journey!!!!
Pacing is seriously SO fulfilling! So great to share those experiences with people in your life who are chasing big things. Thank you for committing yourself to it and for watching!
You did a great job putting it together. I was all trained and ready to do the last leg and he missed the new more strict cutoff on the way back up Hope’s Pass. So I’m hoping he has a redemption story this year.
@@tjmarlettw1497 Oh man! Such a bummer. We ultra runners sure can be stubborn haha. Hopefully he doesn't see that as a failure and is able to use that as fuel for this year. Being brave enough to even sign up for events like Leadville, and to put in the work to reach that start line should never be lost on anyone. Best wishes to you and your runner in this years journey!
This was so inspiring! LOVE how you had so much support and how it brought you all closer together. I’m about to run my first long race.. it’s a 9 hour 1.5 mile loop but about to run further than I have before and after watching this feeling pumped! I appreciate you sharing your journey ~Rachel
So incredibly inspiring and awesome. Running my first marathon this Sunday in preparation for my first 50-miler at the end of July. All in preparation for a goal of running my first 100-miler in 2023. Thanks for the inspiration!
Def amazing. David Goggins did something similar to this. I just completed my first marathon yesterday and I’m hooked. Just signed up for my next one in a couple months. Time to drop weight and improve my time. Hats off to you buddy. Your a warrior.
An amazing documentary and an even incredible achievement. Thanks to all involved 🙌 As someone who has been struggling with my motivation for ultra training recently (albeit just getting it back after a decent race) this is exactly the type of stuff that helps drive you on. Thanks so much!
Beyond honored to offer you some motivation. Events are the snapshot. Enjoy the process and journey it takes to get you to the start line. Never lose sight of how brave you are just to sign up, head out your door, and seek fulfillment. Let that courage and the people you surround yourself with give you wings. Cheers
Incredible feat and dedication , I can’t imagine pushing my body like this , I think we all it in is it’s just where do you start to get to this point. I mean this is a life style , you have to be obsessed sociopathic and a masachist to put your mind body and soul thru that type of torture. If you love what you do why don’t you put your heart into it . I’m a cinematographer and I have put thousands of hours obsessed with my craft so I guess I can relate to this , putting my body through hell so that 13,000-25,000 people can experience a concert, that they’ll never forget . Building the stage, lighting , setting up screens and projectors , l.e.d walls, running cables , setting up cams , white balancing them , and working 18 hr shifts 4 days a week , is in my mind similar to having this amount of dedication and passion. You sacrifice relationships, family time and everything for your craft .. question is why? What’s the point ? Idk maybe too feel important or distract you from your demons . ❤ never give up !
I have developed an obsession with ultra running and what it takes. I have recently completed my first half marathon and have decided I want to sign up to complete a 50km next year with the end goal being 100 miles eventually. One step at a time. Thanks for the content I have found it really useful and inspiring. I want to know how far my feet can take me..
So happy to hear you have found inspiration from our project. Congratulations on your running achievements up til now, and best wishes on your adventures to come. Happy Trails
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to wish me well. Since then I have signed up for my first ultra, it's going to be 100km. As I was going to sign up for a 50km, they were doing a 100km at the same event and I just felt I am either in or out (potentially unwise, I know). So here we are, June 24th 2023, it's happening and I'll be back to let you know how it goes!
this is always such a team effort. I believe the runner alone could not accomplish this, it's always strong (mentaly and physicaly) runners with amazing people around them.
Truly inspirational to the grit and perseverance you displayed… A big shout out to the whole support team and wishing you many more miles under your feet…
Beginning to train for my first 50 miler with only having a couple 50k’s under my belt. Very inspiring to see the footage from during the race and true you do have major grit!
Congratulations to you on being brave enough to sign up for your first 50 miler! So exciting! Thank you for your kind words. Enjoy the process and journey of preparing for your first 50 miler
Thank you for sharing this awesome documentary of your Grand Slam, such beautiful Iconic Ultra races. Well Done to all involved, to Jeremy Miller for such great filming, your family and friends for crewing and all that support these events and allow us to do what we do. This is very Inspiring, I have what's known as the 'Canalslam' here in the UK starting in a couple of months, almost zero elevation, due to being ran alongside water canals, some say its what makes it hard, so much flatness haha. 3 events, one each month from June to August, all over 100 miles, GUCR (Grand Union Canal Race) 145 miles, KACR ( Kennet Avon Canal Race ) 145 miles & last LLCR (Leeds to Liverpool Canal Race) 130 miles.
Thank you for your kind words. This was a big passion project for everyone involved and to see and hear that it's resonating with so many is a dream come true. The ability we have to be able to do the things we love, with the people who got us there is never lost on me. I truly wish you the best in your "Canalslam." That sounds like a wonderful journey towards fulfillment. Enjoy and Happy Trails
@@ianthevegantattooedultraru1113 I'll be headed to Texas very soon for a last runner standing event. Then in June I'll be back for my beloved Bighorn 100

Just mind blown by this man the legacy, determination, ambition, and putting in the work is just beautiful. Great job Jeremy on filming this brotha also amazing work on your side as well 🔥🔥🔥
I just finished with the opening scene. So I haven’t yet heard your account of the Leadville 100. All I know is that is a brutal race. Going over hope peak.
Nutrition in endurance events is a constant moving target. The best advice I can offer is to test/try different sources of nutrition, time intervals in your training.
Good one. I also hate when a trail running race turns out to have lots of pavement. I did this 28k race.. And almost, if not a bit over, 50% was on payment or hard concrete path
Looking back, I definitely didn't hate that there was so much pavement and packed gravel. Admittedly, the description left some want and it's not what I had planned for. At that time, that was just the biggest challenge of that event for me. I loved OD 100. The organizers and volunteers were awesome.
Seriously though... I did watch every minute (well multitasking at work) and enjoyed it all! Gives me inspiration for some of the things that I might accomplish and share on my channel one day.
@@SeeChadRun to have our story inspiring others to chase big things in their own life is a dream come true, and affirmation that we did this the way it was meant to be.
@@vtrmcs thanks for asking! Sadly wasn't able to finish. At 84km it felt like if I were to continue (which I really really really wanted to) I would start doing permanent damage to my legs. So I had to stop, but as I don't like being beaten by challenges, I'll try again next year. I learned a lot, so I'm confident I'll finish then!
This was an amazing video to watch. Mainly, you sound/seem as though you are a good human. Your thoughts, feelings, emotions towards your crew, family, friends, and the sport had me feeling emotional behind words. Congrats on your grand-slam. Amazing accomplishment.
I am really impressed with the way you put things together. I found you by your work with Nick bare. Keep it up! Love the content and the passion you clearly have for this.
Great video. What is the brand of your bandanna that you put ice in? Is it just a normal bandanna? I am running an ultra soon in high heat and it looks very effective. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! It is just a normal bandana. Folded in half and then sewn. There are some you can buy that are already done, where the pocket to put the ice is at a corner. On mine, I cut the pocket in the middle because I find it easier to put more ice in.
Such an awesome film, the amount of time you dedicated and put into this is inspiring as a filmmaker. Justin is a rockstar, thank you for capturing this story and sharing with the world. Can't wait for that 100 miler Jeremy Miller vlog eventually coming down the pipeline ;)
Dude thank you so much!!! This wouldn’t have been possible without you capturing that audio for the beginning & end of the film. Huge thanks man. As far as 100 mile vlog… we’ll see 😂😂
Did anyone in the comments allready said this was inspiring? 😆 Congrats on your achievements. What a great support team and community. Great montage and story telling. It felt like you took us with you.
Thank you SO much. Jeremy truly left no stone unturned in capturing our journey and it's a blessing to know him. Wasatch definitely holds a special place in my heart
This is just wonderful in every possible way. Thank you, Justin and Jeremy, from the bottom of my heart. I needed this to motivate me to keep going and meet my goals. 🔥
Thank you, Justin. I was 20 when I finished my first Ultra 90 km. After that, I've never really taken any sports beyond gym and martial arts. Last week I was on a Trail (light 7km, but mostly 'lovely' rocky hills - Pag Island, Croatia), 50 pounds overweight (245 pounds atm) - with my 3-year-old Junior (30 pounds) in a backpack (backpack is 10 pounds only). I wasn't even at a gym for more than a year. But I did it, finished the race. Since then, I have fallen in love with adventure again, and this video made me order my new Garmin Epix. Monday is coming, and I don't have any excuse to skip training. I am 46 now but feel like born again.
All we are as human beings is energy occupying a biological masterpiece, I think we push the boundaries to see how close we can go to separating the energy( us) from our physical self on that journey 🙂

The 200 mile distance is for sure on the radar.
Justin has some BIG plans for the future 😎😎 gonna be doing some amazing things. Thank you for watching!
Awesome film! His family and support system is incredible and inspiring!
Thank you Josh! And yes!!! It quickly occurred to me that his family is his “why”
Yes, yes they are! Thank you!
I loved every minute (mile) of this film! Thanks for sharing this story and journey with us!!!
We love to hear it!! Thanks for watching Chad 🙌
Thank you for taking the time to watch🙏
Seriously though... I did watch every minute (well multitasking at work) and enjoyed it all! Gives me inspiration for some of the things that I might accomplish and share on my channel one day.
@@SeeChadRun to have our story inspiring others to chase big things in their own life is a dream come true, and affirmation that we did this the way it was meant to be.
Later today I'm gonna be hiking a 110km (68mile) hike in 24 hours, my first serious challenge like this. I'm so excited, and this is great motivation!
How did you get on dude?
@@vtrmcs thanks for asking! Sadly wasn't able to finish. At 84km it felt like if I were to continue (which I really really really wanted to) I would start doing permanent damage to my legs. So I had to stop, but as I don't like being beaten by challenges, I'll try again next year. I learned a lot, so I'm confident I'll finish then!
I really enjoyed this! Good photography, good editing, way better achievement! Congradulations.
Thanks for taking the time to watch it, and for your kind words!
This was an amazing video to watch. Mainly, you sound/seem as though you are a good human. Your thoughts, feelings, emotions towards your crew, family, friends, and the sport had me feeling emotional behind words. Congrats on your grand-slam. Amazing accomplishment.
Thank you for your kind words. Appreciate you taking the time to watch!
“Hard is not the opposite of good, it is the necessity of good"
I love this. Are you the one who said it, or was that Justin?
Justin says this!
I say this and try my darndest to live by it as well
such awesome and supportive parents...wish I had that..anyways you just motivated a retire cross country runner...keep going you are amazing!
I am endlessly blessed in that regard! Keep going!!
I am really impressed with the way you put things together. I found you by your work with Nick bare. Keep it up! Love the content and the passion you clearly have for this.

Must be so awesome to have your parents waiting for you at must IDS station. You very inspirational.
Yes, I'm very Blessed! Thanks for watching!
Respect. Shout out to mom pops and big brother. The real heroes!! #team ❤
100%
As far as 100 mile vlog… we’ll see 😂😂
Thank you SO much for playing a part in our story and for sharing in the night that wouldn't have been possible without you! Cheers
Nice to see a fellow UW alum and ultra runner!

Fantastic content! I’m running my first ultra in Bighorn this year. This gives me motivation to just do better.
So awesome! Justin will be running the BH 100 and I’ll be running the BH 52 this year. See you out there!
Awesome! My brother in law and I are both running the 52!! Just a couple of months to go. See you there for sure.
Love Bighorn! Was my first and holds a very special place in my heart. Enjoy your last couple months of training and hope to see you out there!
This is just wonderful in every possible way. Thank you, Justin and Jeremy, from the bottom of my heart. I needed this to motivate me to keep going and meet my goals. 🔥
Comments like yours honestly give me chills. Thrilled beyond words to offer you some motivation 🙏
Amazing accomplishment, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
Completely epic and inspiring documentary. Jeremy is headed places! Very well done!
Yes, he is!!
Thank you Terry! Wouldn’t have been possible with Justin doing this incredible feat to begin with 💪
All we are as human beings is energy occupying a biological masterpiece, I think we push the boundaries to see how close we can go to separating the energy( us) from our physical self on that journey 🙂
This was such an enjoyable documentary to watch!!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! To new adventures!
Thank you for watching!
Nothing but respect! And very well documented! Loved every second of it 🙏
